Blaze, I never said VAR hasn’t once over-ruled the ref but in the vast majority of cases, it doesn’t. To say “it has over-ruled the ref” is essentially a political position, a technicality.

27th October 2019 at 8:26 am #51081AnonymousAgreed Pagan, that tag line has to go, iut’s basically an excuse for them to just do whatever they want,
VAR should simply be : If this is against the rules, we give it. If the ref has a problem with it, too bad, he’s over-ruled.

27th October 2019 at 8:46 am #51082This one is simple. There is nothing wrong with VAR per se. In this case I think whoever was operating the VAR in this case got it wrong. It was interesting that on MOD they intimated that the VAR did not have all the necessary camera angles.
With 20/20 hindsight it probably wasnt a goal but we are again talking millimeters. Did it touch Silva? Just, I think.
No goal. But was that a CLEAR and OBVIOUS error?
Drives me potty!

27th October 2019 at 8:53 am #51083AnonymousThere was nothing obvious about that particular incident. That was a pretty crazy scenario. Other incidents are much more simple but they will not over-rule the ref.. anyway like the others, Im gonna leave this one for now.

27th October 2019 at 9:54 am #51088I still want VAR to work and I want to maintain trust into it.
Lately though, decision wise it seems to have gotten worse. I personally couldn’t be bothered with watching the highlights and on catch-up TV.
From that point of view aside your own team you support, people will just be put off.
When this season finishes, they really need to evaluate all the critique and make the necessary adjustments to promote accuracy and consistency.

27th October 2019 at 9:55 am #51089Well, Diwali Day Today π
Hope Liverpool can claim all 3 points when they face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
By no means will this be easy. I do hope the OX plays, and Keita too.
Salah should be back too, so plenty of Firepower and hopefully goals and a great performance from the Redmen π

27th October 2019 at 10:01 am #51090Nil, can’t see Ox and Keita both starting, the team was far too open in midweek and that was against Genk, Spurs is a different challenge entirely. Maybe one will start as we are at Anfield, probably Ox as he was taken off maybe with an eye on this game. Klopp certainly has a few choices to make and hopefully means we are a bit more flexible when facing different opposition.

27th October 2019 at 10:23 am #510933ps, agree on the point of being flexible. We can think outside the box on who we choose which means utilising the depth of our squad.
Using other players and even just the odd tweak freshens up the first 11.
Our 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 (if played), means players coming in are in like for like positions and no square pegs-round holes.
I’m liking Lovren playing his part too. It’s purely so players from our depth get the opportunity to play and maintain their experience and own form, plus those who are regulars can have recovery.
Cheers

27th October 2019 at 11:31 am #51094AnonymousYa Threeps. As I said the other day, I would pick : Oxlade – Fabinho – Wijnaldum
I’d say that’s also what Klopp is likely to go with but you never know, he may see a rested Hendo as the better option. Any word on Trent?

27th October 2019 at 1:45 pm #51099Well, i have to say if both Liverpool and Spurs get their team selection and fully fit squad 100%. then we will have an entertaining game for the neutrals. both teams are capable of pressing and both have good forwardline and both has good defence. but i think Liverpool will edge out because of form issues.

27th October 2019 at 3:36 pm #51101AnonymousNot exactly our strongest 11. I guess Klopp will bring Oxlade on as an impact sub, perhaps Lallana too if required. What’s going on with Gomez that he can’t convince Klopp to start him ahead of Lovren?

27th October 2019 at 3:44 pm #51103Iβm not surprised in the slightest that Klopp has gone with that midfield. If you listened to him the other night after the Genk game, he was still rather critical of Ox and others regardless of the goals because they werenβt doing what Klopp wanted them to do. So, unsurprisingly, heβs opted for his safe and reliable midfield of Wijnaldum, Fabinho & Henderson, with obvious options on the bench.

27th October 2019 at 3:55 pm #51104Klopp’s selection I’d have to believe would go by opposition and maturity, plus the ilk of players he has.
3 years ago, this wouldn’t have happened, but our football was merely gung-ho.
From that perspective, he’s conservative for a reason. We can’t take Tottenham lightly.

27th October 2019 at 4:03 pm #51105Hey guys, relax that team is very strong. Henderson will give Liverpool assurance in midfield. Pochettino is playing both Eriksen, Son and Alli on top of Harry Kane which means they could be too much on Fabinho alone. Klopp is not stupid enough to play open. when he knows his front 3 will have their moments. but keep their attackers also at bay.

27th October 2019 at 4:39 pm #51107Sissoko just tore through our midfield there. So much for the reliable midfield.
