I do think the ref was really poor today but not for that.
I’ll add that i think Villa were extremely disappointing, technically. From what I’ve seen today, I’d wonder if they will stay up. They have a few players who know where the back of the net is and maybe that’ll be enough for them to keep getting the odd win here and there or maybe they will begin to go flat soon.

26th October 2019 at 2:36 pm #51010Pressure right on Liverpool against Spurs now. A must win game to maintain their lead. A loss and it’s back to only 3 points and City a better differential of goals.

26th October 2019 at 2:44 pm #51012AnonymousIt is indeed 1967! you know what, I love it. Don’t ask me if I’m still loving it if Spurs go ahead at some stage tomorrow, of course but it’s great to have this kind of pressure so early in a season. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this phenomenon before. That is all thanks to Pep though, for raising the bar to 100 or so points. We’re blessed that we’ve 2 utter lunatics who are capable or such high returns.
Looking at Leicester and Chelsea then, 2 teams in an exciting phase. The PL is the best league in the world by a long shot.

26th October 2019 at 2:46 pm #51013It Will be interesting to see who the goal goes down to, if they do give it to Silva then theyβve undermined VAR, so can only see it going down to KDB….Pagan

26th October 2019 at 2:55 pm #51014Ref could and should have juet given a foul imo it didn’t need a 2nd yellow card and Fernandinho being sent off for it. Just my opinion mate.
Poor Ref all round imo.
Fortunately for City they can use the Red card up in midweek v Southampton in the League Cup allowing Fernandinho to be available for the Southampton PL game on Saturday.

26th October 2019 at 3:01 pm #51015AnonymousPagan, it was given to KDB, otherwise it’s not a goal (I think). If Silva touches that, Sterling is offside and interfering with the keepers line of sight.
Nine, NP man I was just interested in discussing it a bit. I’m not 100% sure but it seemed like a yellow to me. At least it doesnt really matter. I mean if they were playing us next then it would be a larger debate.

26th October 2019 at 3:47 pm #51016Really want you lads to win it though Mak after last season. 97 points to only get 2nd was outrageous.

26th October 2019 at 3:55 pm #51017“I mean if they were playing us next then it would be a larger debate.” It would indeed Mak.
When City get all their players back and if they can then stay pretty much free of further injuries it will make it an interesting second half of the season across all competitions.
The problem for City in the PL though might well be the gap between Liverpool and City by then.

26th October 2019 at 4:18 pm #51018AnonymousNine, I dunno man. They do look nervy at times but they are back to bringing home the bacon. There is too much quality therr for them to fall too far behind. Dont forget that we’re a good spurs performance away from a 3 point gap with games leveled.
By the time city get everyone back, they could be leading the PL.

26th October 2019 at 4:34 pm #51019Mak, If City can keep within 6 or 7 points of Liverpool going into the second half of the season with a full squad and then remain reasonably injury free it would make for an interesting title race but can they?

26th October 2019 at 5:04 pm #51020Mak, according to the BBC, the goal has been given to Silva, so another VAR decision thatβs wrong….Pagan

Cesar Azpilicueta
Kurt Zouma
Fikayo Tomori
Marcos AlonsoMason Mount
Jorginho
Mateo KovacicChristian Pulisic
Willian
Tammy AbrahamNot sure how accurate it is. but that is the line up that is in Livescore. and it looks like 4-3-3. and Pulisic starts while Hudson Odoi drops to the bench. it’s a sensible decision. given the injury that Hudson Odoi has suffered playing 3 games in a week is a bit too much.

26th October 2019 at 5:12 pm #51022I think Sterling was interfering with play but every week VAR gets a kicking on here though if you analyse it VAR gets the majority of the decisions right nothings perfect arguably the TMO got one of two decisions wrong today in the England v NZ WC semi final nothings 100% perfect!

26th October 2019 at 5:15 pm #510239, VAR gets a kicking because itβs not good enough, you continually defend it, but you criticise a ref that only gets one look at things….Pagan

26th October 2019 at 5:15 pm #51024That’s the team CM. I think Pulisic deserves a start and like you say giving Hudson Odoi a rest seems sensible. Chelsea need to defend the set pieces well todwy.

26th October 2019 at 5:20 pm #51025A bit like City injuries are really pushing Chelsea hard currently. Hopefully Chelsea will get everyone back soon and go pretty much injury free for a while it could be the difference between getting a CL place or not.

26th October 2019 at 5:24 pm #51026Nine. Dead right about the TMO today. The second was wrong.
10 mins to kick off at Burnley. Its a Chelsea win for me 3-1.
Listening to the radio on the way back from mucking out our horses (great way to spend Saturday….not) it looks like Everton also suffered a bad VAR decision. Havent seen it though.
Has anybody.I never thought it would be so contraversial,

26th October 2019 at 5:32 pm #51027To be honest Adlab, I thought the only problem we would see was the length of time to get to a decision, and that the decisions it would correct would be the clear and obvious ones that you saw for the second time and knew the officials had made a howler, unfortunately thatβs not whatβs happened, itβs not being used to correct the clear and obvious in some instances, itβs nit picking beyond its capabilities in regards to offside and getting those events it does look at right. Weβre stuck with it now so they need to go back to the drawing board and lay down the rules on how and when it will be used in a realistic and consistent way….Pagan

26th October 2019 at 5:35 pm #51028Pagan as I said nothing is perfect and VAR gets a lot more right than it does wrong and as I said I think the second goal should have been ruled out because Sterling was interfering with play imo.
As for the Ref I think it was a tad harsh to give Fernandinho a second yellow and that he didn’t have his best game that’s all.
I rarely if ever criticise the Ref but……?

26th October 2019 at 5:47 pm #51030The referees got a lot more right than wrong also, 999. Just let them make decisions like they always did. They’ll get some wrong, but hey…so is VAR, at least with the way it is affecting the games and the methods of reffing them ie not making decisions because of VAR. I haven’t seen today’s controversies yet, but it’s happening every sodding week
