26th October 2019 at 11:54 am #50968This is indeed the modern problem managers have. Whilst of course good managers can always eek more out of a team, regardless of the manager, a team should have a minimum standard that theyβll always play for pride no matter what. But now the manager is effectively responsible for instilling all the fight a team has whilst subsequently bearing all the responsibility. This is why top managers now also need to be very charismatic ones.

26th October 2019 at 12:08 pm #50969AnonymousNil, the quality of investment has drastically improved since Klopp has joined. Edwards wasn’t a director of football back then. They had a early attempt at a transfer panel, remember? They sold Suarez on him and told him that he could only have Balotelli. He said he didnt want him initially but that was probably before he realised that his options were extremely limited.
What would Klopp get out of Balotelli? Nothing. Lovren is no amazing player, neither is Origi. They are good squad players but Klopp doesn’t start either of them anymore and that’s because he has better now. Rodgers didn’t have the possibility to sign Mane, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Salah even Matip. Gomez was too young. Firmino was a player that you yourself have wanted to replace time and time again over the years, so I don’t think he’s a good example of how Rodgers failed. It took Klopp awhile to get the best out of him too. Then there is Sturridge getting injured all the time….
Rodgers got a raw deal man. Look at him now. He has a better GD than us with a much cheaper team. It’s up to you if you want to dislike him, that’s your deal but since this is a forum, if you state things that I can offer evidence against then I’ll do it of course.
“His arrogance insisting on attacking football when a draw was enough at Anfield against Chelsea. ”
It wasn’t arrogance at all, not one bit but so many fans bring this revisionism up.
Liverpool at the time were blowing teams away with attacking football. It was the style of football that the players were best at, it was what got us into a position to challenge for the title. So, we brought Chelsea to Anfield and you and other fans NOW want us to have sat back and played for a draw? How many of you lads were saying that before kick off… I would suggest absolutely none. Rodgers made the correct choice in sticking to the working plan but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
“I donβt think he is the βTop Managerβ some people are making him out to be.”
It’s pretty clear what you think mate but the table doesn’t lie. They sold their best defender in the summer and if anything, they are better defensively now. At what stage will you give Rodgers some credit? Do we have to go most of the way through the season and for him to be in the top 4 before you’ll admit that you’re a LITTLE biased against him and Leicester? π JUST A TAD haha

26th October 2019 at 12:18 pm #50971AnonymousAdlab, I would be a bit nervous if I were you also. I mean, I think you guys will win and it might be by some margin but with the injuries and the dropped points as a result of them, combined with Leicester taking 2nd place… I mean, I wouldn’t worry too much but this is the PL and even Man City have got to give it everything they’ve got to secure the 3 points.
I wish the Liverpool V Spurs game was today. Now, am I nervous about that? I’m still pretty confident TBH.

26th October 2019 at 12:20 pm #50972Mikus. I think you are right. Nobody doubts the charisma of Pep and Klopp and this transmits to the players. Perhaps we might agree that this is something lacking at this time with OGS?
There are so few with that messianic charisma but you know it when you see it. Its there in all walks of life.
For City, Vincent Kompany had it…a leader. In days gone by Utd had it with, not my favourite person, Roy Keane. Chelsea with John Terry…and so on.
The Southampton manager, whose name escapes me, doesnt have it._____________________________

26th October 2019 at 12:27 pm #50974If that was a great performance by Leicester last night England’s performance in beating NZ and reaching the World Cup Final was fantastic NZ are the best team in the world and England controlled them. Eddie Jones what a Coach he created one England team who won every game and then dismantled it to build another one to try and win the World Cup.
Hopefully England remember that despite beating the best team in the World it’s not won yet and that they go on and win it for themselves, Eddie Jones and the country.

26th October 2019 at 1:18 pm #50981Good defensive performance by Villa in the first half 9 man behind the ball at times has made it very difficult for City.

26th October 2019 at 1:18 pm #50982AnonymousNo way Villa will get through another 45 mins here. They’ve got to show some.more quality on thr break and get the first goal, or this will be a win for city.

Too many missed chances.
Poor ref …yet again, although v slippery conditions. We should be ahead but we arent!
Perhaps one day we might just get a VAR decision. Definite handball not given.
But too many appeals for VAR and too much surrounding the ref for it. Not good.
Villa are playing well and this will be a tough one to win._____________________________

26th October 2019 at 1:20 pm #50984AnonymousCity are quite nervy for whatever reason but you can see the pure class in flashes. I thinkits only a matter of time before KDB or Silva destroys.
