City and Liverpool are miles ahead of everyone else. I’d be surprised if the gap was less than 15 between 2nd and 3rd. They are the two best teams in the World and probably Bayern a distant 3rd.

6th August 2022 at 11:20 am #197300No way Brian that 6/8 teams will be competing for the title. I can’t remember that ever happening. The World Cup has the potential to upset a good run of form and to deny competing Clubs of their best players due to injuries suffered during the World Cup.

6th August 2022 at 12:19 pm #197304Only really follow my Spuds inside out, and based on last season, when we had a pigs ear of a start, a major wobble around Janury, a long term injury to Romero who missed about a third of the season, and a half arsed Harry who only scored one goal before Christmas, chucked in a Conte pre-season, 6 signings that all improved the squad in area’s that needed improving in, an interested Harry, and hopefully a bit of luch with injuries, and the way we finished the season in the last 8-10 games, I’m very confident in thinking we’ll be at least 12, maybe 15 points better off than last year, giving my Spuds around the 83-86 points range.
Won’t be enough to catch MoneyBags, but it will be enough to keep the Micky Mousers honest with one eye over their shoulder…
Of course, the 5-sub rule and a World in the middle of the season didn’t exist last year either… but think we’ve got a pretty decent bench now… and I do think this World Cup will be the most boring in memory, still to bloody hot for the players and just about every time will be playing for peno’s when the knock-out starts…
My typical 11 and bench (with anticapting future sales/incomings!)
GK HUGO
BACK 3: ROMERO, DIER, LENGLAT (although and outside chance of another top draw CB showing up for the left!)
RWB: Donkey CM: Bentacur, Hodge-Podge LWB Perisic
Up Top: Ginger Ninja, Harry, SonnyBench: Forster, Sanchez, Davies, Bissuoma, Skipp, Blondie, Moura, Sessengon, Spence.
And this isn’t including the possible AM that might be showing up…

6th August 2022 at 2:51 pm #197323Ed and Nine…well all I can say is to the teams who you think of no chance…why bother…think positive. I’m sure Messrs Tuchel, Arteta, Ten Haag conte etc are or should not be thinking we are also rans and if the players think that, why are they picking up a pay packet? We have a difference of opinion here on how to view the season ahead but to me, there are more teams in the chase for the title, City are only one of them. What happened in recent years is History and we start again, that is the same for every team, that is what I am sticking to. History has no value next game

7th August 2022 at 9:06 am #197348Brian, Conte says he’s dreaming of winning the PL and there’s nothing wrong with that.
They’ll always be the odd shock results at the beginning of the season last season Spurs beat City in the first game but City still went on to win the PL. Liverpool will put the Fulham game behind them very quickly.
I would love you to be right and that we see half a dozen teams competing for the title but when push comes to shove unfortunately I’m pretty sure we’ll see the same 2 teams fighting it out for the PL title.
There’s a reasons why City are odds on favourites for the title and Liverpool are 5-2 with Spurs the closest challenger at 12-1 but please keep on talking up a circa 6 way challenge we would all like to see that no matter how unlikely.😊 Cheers 9’s

7th August 2022 at 10:15 am #197349If Moneybags don’t finish 1st, that means LiVARberoOol finished 1st and Moneybags finished 2nd.
Everything you can speculate on… 🙂

7th August 2022 at 10:42 am #197351Tottenham definitely for a CL place but that’s if on majority they can avoid injuries.

10th August 2022 at 7:28 pm #197472Nil..Same applies for any team re injuries. I do think City are chancing a lot with smaller squad unless they are fully confident Academy players can step up

14th August 2022 at 7:10 am #197612Looks like this season a couple of real big teams may get relegated, the only small pedigree teams in the EPL are Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford, all the others are big clubs

29th May 2023 at 1:38 pm #207106Lets see how we all did then. Unsurprisingly we pretty much all got City right, but the rest of the top 4, not so much. Knew we’d have an off season, just not that much of an off season. Got all my sackings right though 😆.

30th May 2023 at 6:03 am #207114Yeah always good to look back at these threads. I was way off about Lingard doing well Sean 😁. I thought we’d see the West Ham Lingard bit he’s been rubbish. Scamacca another one I got badly wrong. Whilst I didn’t actually predict Leicester would go down,I did have them as my surprise team to struggle this season and potentially get pulled into the relegation scrap.
It seems Arsenal, Utd and Newcastle were the overachievers and Liverpool and Chelsea the ones to underdeliver based on our expectations. As you say Sean, Chelsea have been an absolute shambles. Poor decision after poor decision. I read somewhere that someone suggested they couldn’t decide who was the worst team of the season between Lampard’s Everton or Lampard’s Chelsea 😄.

21st June 2023 at 5:50 pm #207480Already sense, City will be pushed hard to defend their Title. Other teams really would have strengthened. I’m not adding my lot at this moment in time 🙂
