4th August 2022 at 3:24 pm #197247Very bold Sean…I would not be far away if I could get anywhere of my predictions of the past anywhere near5% correct…just shows you what I know about football!!
Very interesting about Sterling..I do think he will have a nice honeymoon!!
Vierra…I know nothing about him
Kane. He may struggle this season because teams are strengthening the back more I think_____________________________

4th August 2022 at 4:00 pm #197248Yeh Chelsea reportedly considering Aubameyang. Lots could still happen between now and 1st September.
Chelsea are now considering Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as potential new striker. Discussions have already started on player side, still no bid to Barcelona. 🚨🔵 #CFC
He’s one of the names in Chelsea list after meeting for Sesko and other targets. #FCB pic.twitter.com/hvsqIGpYMJ

4th August 2022 at 6:00 pm #197249Top 4
1. City
2. Liverpool
3. Spurs
4. Chelsea1 and 2 could easily be the other way around and will be tight, as with my 3 and 4 I think.
Relegation
Leeds
Everton
BournemouthSigning of the season : Sterling is a good shout Sean. Will take a gamble on Scamacca at West Ham. Reckon Lingard will do very well at Forest too.
Flop of the season: Would love to say Haaland or Nunez, for obvious reasons, but I just can’t see it. Those two rarely get signings wrong these days. Richarlison at Spurs is my shout.
Surprise team: Villa have made some interesting signings so they should really be up there challenging with West Ham, Newcastle etc for those Europa spots with the squad they have.
Surpise prediction: I think Leicester will get pulled into the relegation fight. They’re losing a lot of top players and not really making any stand out signings. Schmeichel has gone. Potential exits for Maddison, Vardy, Fofana, Tielemans.
1st sacking: Lampard at Everton
Golden boot winner: Kane. Tempted to go with Nunez or Haaland purely because those two sides create so many chances but I think Kane edges it if he stays clear of injuries.

4th August 2022 at 6:08 pm #197250I think there’s just a few poorer teams that will stop Everton from being relegated Ed but they are in for a very tough season
I don’t see were Richardlson fits in at spurs . He will probs play behind Kane with son.
I don’t get the Philips signing at city. He’s not going to play instead of Rodri unless pep has a new role for him or they change formation???

4th August 2022 at 6:28 pm #197251No that’s it re Philips Sean. A lot of money for a backup player. A good player but I’d be a bit concerned about my World Cup place if I was him.
Yeah you may be right about Everton. They had some shocking results in preseason though.
I wonder which jobs becoming available would be deemed big enough to tempt Poch back. Newcastle? Leicester? Wouldn’t be all that shocked if Tuchel goes mid season going by some of his comments about his squad in preseason. He could go there. He’d also be the obvious choice if Ten Hag has an absolute shocker of a start. If Ronaldo stays, that wouldn’t surprise me (that Ten Hag has a really bad start and the media start talking about Poch). You can also never write offa Conte team implosion, though I do fancy them to do very well this season, asmany others do.

4th August 2022 at 7:31 pm #197252Difficult one this season. A lot of unknowns and things in flux with some transfer business still to be done, but as things stand:
Top 6
1) City
2) Spurs
3) Liverpool – These 3 teams could be in flux over the season but expect them to finish top 4.
4) Chelsea5) Arsenal
6) Man UtdI think City have strengthened an already formidable side. They are a bit undercooked with not much pre season, but that hasn’t affected them before being a slower starter. Haaland will naturally be a big success but watch out for Alvarez who has gone under the radar. I think and I expect City to win by a greater margin this time. I think Liverpool could start well but have a big problem with an aging midfield which hasn’t really been addressed and I think it will cost them as the season goes on – Carvalho could help up top but it’s asking a lot for a youngster and it’ll probably take time for Klopp to bed him in. Nunez potentially quite raw too. (I do wonder if the CL loss impacted on Tchouaméni’s decision to choose Real Madrid ahead of Liverpool which may have been pretty costly). I also think Liverpool have to be at full tilt every game to compete with City which again is asking a lot over the season. So I do think Spurs could potentially overtake them under Conte and they look like they’re in the ascendency and have made some good signings, though could do with a few more. I wouldn’t write Chelsea off but they definitely need more established quality up top – something they look like they’re currently trying to address. If they do, they could do better. These 3 following teams could constantly be in flux around positions 2, 3 & 4. Chelsea may get better players in, but Conte is a formidable manager.
Relegation
Southampton
Fulham
BournemouthThink time may finally be up for Southampton.
Signings of the season: Hard to see it not being Haaland, though Alvarez & Carvalho could prove great value for money. I’ve also been impressed by Chukwuemeka whenever he played at Villa and never understood why he didn’t play more. You’d expect Koulibaly to settle well at Chelsea.
Flop of the season: Wouldn’t maybe call flop, but not completely convinced by Richarlison at Spurs for that money, though I think he is quite rugged and will still offer something.
Surpise prediction/team: I think Forest will probably perform the strongest out the promoted sides and may even do a Brentford. I also think Lampard may limp on at Everton for longer than thought as he’s just not got much resources and I think the fans have really galvanized behind him.
Sackings: I’d look out for Gerrard, Rodgers, Viera, Hasenhuttl, Parker. I haven’t particularly rated Gerrard’s time at Villa even if it was his first season and not all his players. I think a problem with great players not being great managers is because they get too frustrated they can’t coach their own natural ability. As for Arteta, I don’t particularly rate him but Arsenal have invested in him for the long term.

5th August 2022 at 6:58 am #197253Figured you numpties would have one of these going, and after what has been the best transfer window for my Spuds for decades, I’m going to tell you all how it is…
Top 6:
1) Man City… again… sold some, bought some who are even better, still setting the bar… and, just to keep the peace, I won’t mention what a bunch of scumbags their owners are or their pathetic attempts at “sportswashing”… 🙂2) LiVARberool… but only just. Don’t think they’re going to hit the same heights as last year, they’re going to miss Mane’s industry up top and their injury and aging midfield will fade the longer the season goes on. They’re one injury away to either Dic Van Dyck and Salah to losing 2nd place.
3) Spuds… brillinat transfer window, and with a Conte pre-season, Harry in the mood all season this year, and Romero (in the TOP 3 CB’s in the league!) hopefully fit all season, I reckon we could easily get 15 more points than last year, which puts us dangerously close to the Micky Mousers!
4) Chelski (need to think of a new name for them!)… lost a few players, bought a few players, but have they really “improved” that much? Maybe, maybe not, but I don’t think they’ve improved as much as my Spuds have. Comfortablly 4th….
5) Goonies… probably should have had CL footy this year, strengthened a bit, but not enough to catch the 1st and 2nd best teams in London. Still better than West Ham though, so all is not lost!
6) YooUtd… another transitional year for them… bit of an unkown really but should still have enough to secure Conference League football in the worst case scenerio.
Signing of the season: I think Perisic was an inspired signing, and if we’re going for a VFM element here, would be my signing of the season, been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the trophies to prove it… but I think Haaland is going to be a star and probably signing of the season overall.
Flop of the season: Nunez… (now watch him bang in 30!)… 85 million for a one season wonder from Portugal? The pressure is on!
And I’ll be back full-time when Buffy and Nepolean show-up… (come on lads, you know it makes sense!)

5th August 2022 at 8:08 am #197254Reason I’ve gone for spurs for 3rd is because of conte. I think Richardlson be a flop. Spence is a risk but has all the attributes to be a very good wing back. Persic is getting on. You could just see spurs players giving that bit extra for conte towards end of last season.
I still think Chelsea I’ll be competing on all fronts. Crucrella is over priced but a good player . Rumour is they will pay over 70m for fofana aswell.

5th August 2022 at 9:07 am #197255As well as them (Chelsea) now looking to gazump Utd for De Jong, Sean. Chelsea certainly not messing about in the market this season. Guessing them and Arsenal will be the biggest spenders this summer. Arteta has spent loads at Arsenal and really needs to deliver now.

5th August 2022 at 9:12 am #197256I don’t get the fdj to Chelsea rumour Ed. Chelsea don’t need him in there.
Ye Chelsea spending like Romans first few years if these deals go through.
Areta is under severe pressure. He’s had been given plenty of time and money. Huge test this evening

5th August 2022 at 9:22 am #197257I have a suspicion that the new Chelsea owner wants a marquee signing after the PR disaster of seeing them lose the likes of Rudiger and Christensen as well as seeing the Raphinha and Kounde deals hijacked at the last minute.
Going and getting someone like De Jong, who clearly wants CL football, goes some way to clawing back some credit amongst the fans with the new owners eager to get off on a good footing in their first transfer window.

5th August 2022 at 9:59 am #197258Still a bit difficult to predict with still a month of the transfer window to go but here’s how I see it.
I think it’s going to be nip and tuck again between City and Liverpool, I think Spurs have had a good window and under Conte they could improve further and maybe win a domestic Cup if Chelsea can continue to strengthen between now and September 1st they should make the top 4.🤞😊
Relegation wise I think Bournemouth and Fulham will do well to survive and it’s a toss up between Leeds and Southampton for the third relegation slot.
1)City
2)Liverpool
3)Spurs
4)ChelseaAll top 4 places are reversible ie 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th imo.
Relegation
Leeds
Bournemouth

5th August 2022 at 10:21 am #197260Ah once Barca coming calling Ed then there’s only one winner so I don’t really blame Chelsea on missing out on those players.
I think sterling is a marquee signing. Chelsea sign fdj then Kanye or kovacic drop out? I can still see Chelsea spending much more money and they need a centre forward

5th August 2022 at 10:37 am #197261Right you ice creams!
1. Pool
2. City
3. Arsenal
4. Dirty spuds
5. Chelsea
6. West Ham
7. UnitedI agree Arteta needs to deliver but you all talk of big money spent but look a bit deeper. Who needed replacing (snd many still do) and the fact our £150m was on 5/6 players not one or two like the big boys who can do that each window building from a position of strength
Still it’s a wedge of cash now fully his squad snd team so he needs to show what the fuss is about (still not convinced by him)
Dirty spuds … bought really well and very unspudsey! Top manager already to attach and now real danger mores the pity … but still the spuds so will still mess it up somehow 😁
City I’m not sure about this year… think it may drop off and pool will take advantage
Both bought well after losing some big players
Chelsea a strange one and think unless a few decent surprises snd goals bought in will struggle
United another summer of chasing one player and no bank up
Really surprised not brought more in to be fair think Haag is on a hiding to nothingCan’t wait for tonight and a today victory to see us top of the table 😁

5th August 2022 at 11:44 am #197264One down, one to go… 🙂
And considering the end to last season, I think it needs to be changed to Arsey… (still can’t decide which game I enjoyed more, the Spuds 3-0 or the Bone Saw Boys 2-0!)
