Can’t say it’s surprising

2nd April 2023 at 8:18 pm #205817Literally fresh news; that’s 2 managers today gone!
Why is the timing of managers going everytime their next fixture is Liverpool?! Now they’ll be up for this on Tuesday. I wonder who takes charge.

2nd April 2023 at 8:25 pm #205818I am surprised to be honest. So much for long term thinking at Chelsea. Back to the chopping and changing we saw under Roman at the first sign of trouble. A very successful model under Roman, it has to be said.
Wonder if there’ll be a temporary appointment like Terry/Lampard then assess in the summer. It’s either that or they’ve already talked to the likes of Nagelsmann/Poch. Can’t see De Zerbi leaving until the summer.

2nd April 2023 at 8:29 pm #205820This is bad news for Spurs though, who will now have to contend with Chelsea for the top managers.

2nd April 2023 at 8:29 pm #205821If boehly sacks the next manager he needs to stand down himself

2nd April 2023 at 8:30 pm #205822Ed if we go for de zerbi we are too fooking stupid to be believed. Would be a ridiculous appointment to follow on from Potter.

2nd April 2023 at 8:33 pm #205824Brighton are a much, much better side under De Zerbi than they ever were under Potter imo Lucky. It’s early days with him but I don’t think you can simply put Brighton’s progress under him to the circumstances being right. He’s taken them to new heights.

2nd April 2023 at 8:36 pm #205825No Ed you are making the same mistake. Brighton went to new heights under Potter too 🤣 they continued to progress until he left and the progression continued. It wouldn’t have continued if de zerbi wasn’t just as good if not better than Potter, but ultimately its the infrastructure of the club and recruitment that is most fundamental to the continual progression we have seen.

2nd April 2023 at 9:01 pm #205827When a manager praises the players attitudes but keeps having poor results it’s never usually long before they’re gone. I think it was too idealist thinking from Boehly who I think changed too many things too quickly.
There’ll no doubt be a reaction now on Tuesday so Chelsea big favourites now.

2nd April 2023 at 9:05 pm #205829Luis Enrique not a bad bet at around 10/1.

2nd April 2023 at 9:15 pm #205830Nagelsman is slight odds on favourite but I would imagine he would have some reservations if his reputation means anything to him

2nd April 2023 at 9:25 pm #205831Lucky, I would think Boehly would now want someone with quite a bit of big club and big player experience and Luis Enrique very much fits that bill, though maybe there’ll be an interim until summer and Enrique could then takeover.

3rd April 2023 at 7:11 am #205834“You’re a unemployed statistic, Harry!”…. 🙂
Makes our search for a manager a little bit more complicated, don’t it?
Logic would suggest all the top-draw managers will be waiting for the Madrid first, probably the Jammy Dodgers job second, and us Cocks will be waiting to see who’s leftover for us…

3rd April 2023 at 7:31 am #205836We might as well go for Brent now… at least it will be entertaining if not productive!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

3rd April 2023 at 7:58 am #205837Crazy season so far
3 managers gone in a week and Chelsea have to be a much bigger joke currently than the spuds! Mental
Usually by now at least one team would be relegated but it really could be any of 8 or so teams
Top 4 and European places all over the shop
After the years of irrelevance from my team I must say it does feel good from where I’m sitting for a change even if we do end up blowing it 🤣_____________________________

3rd April 2023 at 8:14 am #205838As I said at the time Potter was a risk but imo the philosophy at the time was right.
Football is a results busines even Pep would be under pressure if he was regularly losing games.
No managerial appointments are without risk but as Mikus said “Boehly would now want someone with quite a bit of big club and big player experience” I doubt there will be another Potter type appointment and experience will strongly count this time around.
