Lucky..what we know from this forums conversations is the fans do not want it or it to be politically or financially exploited but we are all powerless to do anything about it but register our views. This MAY, or may not make them think of future events although I doubt it. Like you I am cynical about the whole organisation of football and I fear what they are proposing for British football at the moment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our structure, OK, it could do with better management at times but it has stood the test of time better than most sports. We have now to contend with GREED

30th September 2022 at 1:08 pm #199275Brian,I don’t think there’s anyone on here who thinks it’s a good idea to be holding the World Cup in Qatar and in November too.
But we are where we are and I can’t see any of the suggested protests on here having any meaningful impact.
“I fear what they are proposing for British football at the moment” I’m not aware of what is being proposed for British football can you elaborate?

30th September 2022 at 3:00 pm #199276Red Nev turned up at the Labour Party Conference and whether you like or dislike his politics he spoke very well on all the current issues on the stage alongside Keir Starmer.

30th September 2022 at 8:05 pm #199277Nine…I think it is on the lines of American football, where you have about 6 teams guaranteed to keep there place….others are based on crowd capacity potential and other aspects…I did not read it all, had seen enough but apparently it is being discussed.
More like Financial modelling to me…where has the game of football gone? maybe somebody can explain better than me_____________________________

1st October 2022 at 8:58 am #199281Brian, any changes to the PL requires a majority of 14 and Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas that aside realistically the top 6 are pretty much guaranteed to keep their places in the PL anyway.

1st October 2022 at 11:27 am #199285Another thing which is annoying, with all this financial crisis and pressure on family budgets there is not one word of doing anything to ease Fans plight with ever increasing fixtures crowded into a short period. They have no thoughts of the fans plight they are only interested in filling slots in there calendars. At the same time, inflation does not bother those that get free seats and all the trimmings and smile down on the populist ..oh..and do not forget to buy your shirt!!!!! Thank you Fifa/UEFA/FA

1st October 2022 at 11:31 am #199286Nine…as you know, I am more cynical on these things, if they are talking about it, then, to me, it is logical to think they know a way of doing it!!! I hope not but that’s life in football now

1st October 2022 at 12:06 pm #199287Brian. you’ve got me at a disadvantage because I’ve not really seen anything on this but nothing will change in the PL without a majority of 14 Clubs agree to it.

1st October 2022 at 9:24 pm #199356Football should be a place where people take a break from all things political and feel united. I’d just ban everything as Ed said. I think social media has exacerbated things.

2nd October 2022 at 10:16 am #199362I believe as far as this message board/site is concerned, we’ve all been fantastic in raising other subjects outside football. In unique a family which is a testament to all of us, so shouldn’t really be a problem even if we disagree.
I was going to start another thread re the financial crisis; so I’m personally struggling to understand since the budget a week last friday how it all spiraled out of control.
It’s just crazy considering too the extra raise in energy bills which households already have been struggling with.

2nd October 2022 at 11:50 am #199370Definitely no religion from my side. That can stay where it is. We have far too much going on in the world and it needs to be brought to peace than war.

8th October 2022 at 9:58 am #199567Wow, just came across one of the main headline articles from the DM. This really is causing a stir. At this point, they’re likely to lose fans than gain interest.
