“Tottenham are considering Jose Mourinho as new manager, after sacking Pochettino,” Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted. “And Jose would be open to start a discussion with Spurs.”
According to Romano, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is open to bringing in the Portuguese to replace the former Southampton chief and is set to make a decision on appointing him in a matter of hours.
He added: “Daniel Levy will decide on next hours. #THFC #Tottenham #Spurs #Pochettino.”
Romano, however, was quick to insist a decision hasn’t been made, though he’s adamant Levy’s decision on the club’s new manager is imminent.” Daily Express.

19th November 2019 at 9:07 pm #53212To me, there just seems more of a dearth in high quality Man-Manager and Coaches on the circuit with a Pedigree a long with very little new blood emerging.
Of course, the better ones are spoken for, but each of these guys have their own shelf-life.
More notably to point of in Managers being ‘Recycled’. How Many Prem Clubs for example will Rafa go through?
I also don’t think we’ve seen the last of Poch. I think Silva will gone, possibly Unai Emery too.

19th November 2019 at 9:10 pm #53213I think Howe more likely than Mourinho. Anyhow he would cost less!

19th November 2019 at 9:18 pm #53215Personally I think Eddie Howe is the best fit for Spurs without Spurs sell their big stars there won’t be massive funds to spend given the need to pay for the Stadium.
Whether Howe would be prepared to move to such a high profile role is open to conjecture.
Clearly Jose would.

19th November 2019 at 9:22 pm #53216Definitely makes sense re Howe – step up Career move, location and to be fair, he’s done a really good job at Bournemouth.

19th November 2019 at 9:23 pm #53217I agree Nine.
He would go from Bournemouth. You get few chances in life and fewer in football._____________________________

19th November 2019 at 9:36 pm #53218Well, I’m going to bed so I can wake up tomorrow and discover Kloop has taken over as he wants to live somewhere with a bit of culture and better fish and chips… (I’m completely pissed off so I might as well piss off a few other people! 🙂 )

19th November 2019 at 9:54 pm #53222I’m not convinced by Howe. He’s too comfortable at Bournemouth, there’s no big expectations on him, even if he does get them playing nice football. Is he good enough tactically too? He’s been there for 7 years, why has he stayed so long if he is an ambitious manager?
If there’s going to be some money there, I’d go for José. Don’t get all the hate towards him, yes he can be childish, but Guardiola was hardly full of class towards the referees the other week. Had that been José, it would still be being talked about.

19th November 2019 at 10:00 pm #53223Couldn’t agree more Mikus. As a Utd fan, I certainly hope they’ll go for Howe. I’d be very worried about Spurs as a threat for the next 2-3yrs if Jose went there, and it’s a while since I’ve been worried about Spurs.
Football is crazy though. With all the talk of Utd getting Poch to replace Jose, the opposite is now looking very likely.

19th November 2019 at 10:07 pm #53224All good points Mikus but I can’t see Levy coming up with lots of money for transfers he didn’t for Poch and there’s a lot to put right at Spurs now.
That’s why I think Howe would be a better bet because he could work well on a smaller budget but you’re right it would be difficult to prise him out of Bournemouth where he’s comfortable and not under the sort of limelight he would be under at Spurs.
But Jose looks the most likely candidate and Levy went for him the first time he left Chelsea.

19th November 2019 at 10:15 pm #53225Nine, I suspect Levy is already consulting a thesaurus to fudge his language and say something like that there will be the “required” investment at the club if he goes for Jose. But what would the definition of “required” investment be in that case? Though as Ed alluded to some time ago, I’m not convinced José needs a blank cheque book to succeed.

19th November 2019 at 10:17 pm #53226I said this a month ago on one of the weekly threads and completely stand by it still
I wish Ole’s career could “take a different turn” then ala Mourinho! He might not have done as well as previously but he’s continued to win wherever he’s been. All this about “he wouldn’t go to Spurs because they don’t have the money” is pointless when you consider he’s already done all the relevant money clubs. There is nowhere left for him to go with a huge budget. He’s won the biggest trophy of them all with worse squads than Spurs and Levy knows this. He’s also won loads at clubs where he’s spent less than Poch has spent at Spurs so it’s far too easy to go down the route of “well Spurs don’t have the budget he needs”.

19th November 2019 at 10:32 pm #53228Spurs haven’t won an away league game since, what, January? Spurs will potentially have a new manager in place by their next away PL game after this weekend.
Who are Spurs playing away in that game?
Man Utd!
