27th August 2017 at 5:29 pm #4267Gary Neville, “Karius keeps walking into the same glass door.” That really tickled me.

27th August 2017 at 6:13 pm #4270Liverpool are going to do this to the top sides all season. I still think Liverpool will struggle to put away the weaker sides though. With that said, I actually think that puts them in a strong position to go far in the CL.
Put it this way, I think Utd have a better chance of winning the league but, because I don’t think our squad is built to outplay the top sides, I think Liverpool are better placed than Utd to go far in the CL. Their only handicap is their squad depth which is nowhere near the levels of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea, even if the first XI is probably every bit as strong.

27th August 2017 at 6:41 pm #4273Completely agree 999. United started well last season and I seem to remember Chelsea struggling a little at the start of last season too, until their change of formation. 3 games in is just far too early to write anyone in our out of the title race, especially in this league. Your boys looked very good today. Not bad for a team in “crisis” just a couple of weeks ago ?

27th August 2017 at 8:19 pm #4279Ed, Chelsea still short of Hazard,Cahill and Bakayoko is not yet match fit once Chelsea get all their players back and up and running one to eleven there as good as anyone in the PL and better than most.
I’m really looking forward to seeing a front three of Hazard, Morata and Pedro with Bakayoko driving through from behind them.
Truthfully 8 or 9 nil today wouldn’t haven’t flattered Liverpool they were that good going forwards and Arsenal were that had all over the pitch.
Having said all that I still think the title is going to Manchester.
Liverpool’s front three are awesome and will be even better with Coutinho behind them if he stays and can get his head straight again and 4 nil today flatters Arsenal because without taking anything away from Liverpool Arsenal were absolutely abysmal today.
Arsenal’s problems all start with the Arsenal Board they should have bittenn the bullet and fired Wenger, Wenger should not be hanging on to players that don’t want to be there, Monreal shouldn’t be playing centre back and Bellerin shouldn’t be playing left back Arsenal are in turmoil now because you can add to this that the match going Arsenal fans will turn on Wenger again.
Sad for Wenger because he is souring his own heritage now.

27th August 2017 at 9:00 pm #4284Most of Arsenal`s players should not be playing their trade in the EPL period.Hans beens like Cech,Monreal,Mertesacker,Cazorla,Giroud, will never win you the title.I read S.McManaman wrote a piece recently about how the EPL teams are getting rid of their players too quickly, and that is the reason why the EPL teams are failing in the CL.Well in Arsenal case I would say it is the reason why they are failing everywhere.Even Wenger himslf should have gone long time ago.Koscielny,Walcott,Ramsey, and Ox have been for far too long @ the club.Arsenal badly needs a new manager and a complete rebuild.

27th August 2017 at 9:06 pm #4286Sadly 9, I can only see it all ending in tears down at the Emirates. He could (& should) have left this summer with his head held high after lifting the FA Cup. The power he seemingly has over his own destiny is crippling that club and will be their downfall

27th August 2017 at 9:09 pm #4287I wonder what the odds are of Sterling being the only played to be booked for stepping 2yds over the touch line this season. Pretty long I expect.

27th August 2017 at 9:31 pm #4288Great performance from Liverpool there, flattered Arsenal to be fair. I’m interested to see how Manu go against a top team but it doesn’t look like they’ll be playing any, did they pay to have an easy start to the season :>)).
Out of all the teams I think Liverpool will actually struggle the most against Manu, they will be typical jose & give us no space & will hit long balls into fellani & lukaku, which we will struggle with. Sadly they look very balanced this season & I think will be the team to beat._____________________________

28th August 2017 at 6:11 am #4299Jim, welcome to the site! Look forward to reading a City fan’s perspective.
Did you see Shearer’s reaction to the Sterling sending off? He was going mad on MOTD about it. I still fear City this season despite an indifferent start. I had them down as my winners for the league and I think, once they click, they will be a real force. I think you’ll completely outplay Utd anyway in the Derby. City, like Liverpool, will excel against the bigger sides I feel.

28th August 2017 at 9:24 am #4305Hi Ed, thank you for the welcome. Most pundits I have read and listened to have slated Dean for his second yellow against Sterling. None more so than Garth Crooks in his BBC team of the week, he even talks about it being cancelled but I can’t see that happening it would be a precedent and the powers that be always back the refs to the hilt regardless of how bad they are. To my mind City are not clicking yet. We still look a bit shaky at the back and need to to take our chances. I know a few fans who are not comfortable with Peps one style of play, ie passing the ball into the net. We have no plan B against a team that sits deep and defends in numbers. No target man and wide high crosses to Jesus or Aguero are not going to work. On the plus side, Mendy and Bernardo Silva look impressive. And if we can keep Vinny fit we will be close in the run in. Liverpool next, a real bogey team for us so a win at the Etihad will give the team plenty of confidence. Will be a good game for the neutral. Jim
