The Minimum Wage Life’s Man, The Working Class Man, The Man From The Street Essentially is distanced from Today’s Money Making Machine.
Greed too far down in Players Wages. I have seen just Big Fat and Ugly Black Cars Parked on the ‘designated area’ of the King Power to leave me with enough of an impression. Never any remote of any Jealously as such in one’s wealth, especially in this particular line of business.

4th April 2019 at 5:35 am #36812“but it will be interesting to see what the season average was between City and Liverpool .”
Not really, the figures will not be a true reflection on the actual attendance as season ticket holders are counted whether they go or not. And not just City, all teams do it that I think, or at least Arsenal do when people questioned their empty seats. So when they say the stadium was 98% full but my eyes tell me probably around 60% I know which to believe!
Not having a dig at City, more of a dig at the way football has become.

4th April 2019 at 6:44 am #36813there was an article not that long ago that said about half the PL teams could have empty grounds EVERY game and still remain profitable, thats whats happened to football, on that basis you would hope that at least those clubs would try and give back my lowering prices for tickets and food and drink inside!

4th April 2019 at 7:48 am #36814Brian – I understand what you’re saying about the prices, but that doesn’t alter the fact that City have, if not the cheapest, then very nearly the cheapest ticket prices in the Prem ( and credit to Mansour for that by the way ), and there’s still empty seats. You just don’t see empty seats at Anfield now, except maybe in the odd cup game. It’s not always been like that – I remember being in a crowd of 14000 at Anfield in the 80’s for a League Cup game!! And threeps is right, average attendance is bullshit – we can see that from Arsenal.
Mak, the atmosphere at Anfield isn’t as good as it was back in the 70’s and 80’s, sure, but I tell you, it’s a damn sight better than the Etihad. It was good the other day, Klopp even commented on it.
Anyway, I don’t want to get in to a ‘My Dad’s bigger than your Dad’ argument with the City lads on here, whom I have a lot of respect for (where has big Jim gone bttw?), I was just shocked last night watching it on TV that I felt I had to comment.

4th April 2019 at 7:56 am #36815Hightown, would it be true to state that the atmosphere in general at Anfield has improved since Klopp came?
He’s nearly always commenting on how good the crowd is.
As for city they show absolutely no sign of dropping points
I think we will drop some Friday. I was very confident v Fulham and spurs but something about Friday has me quite nervous.
Good wins for Chelsea and spurs.
City rest 7 players yet still field a top class side.
They have the squad for the quadruple and I really don’t think anything is going to stop them

4th April 2019 at 9:02 am #36816The atmosphere at Anfield comes across to me as very good particularly on big CL nights and the Anfield crown are understandably driven by their desire to win the PL title. I thought they almost sucked that winning goal into the net v Spurs.?
The crowd make Anfield a very tough place to go for opposition teams.

4th April 2019 at 9:09 am #36817Hightown…no winners in this….I also remember being in croeds of 82000 at Maine Rd, prooves nothing only that Cit attendances went down. I believe, City , as a club has 40K loyal supporters and 15K fair weather fans. It has been like that as longas I cam remember. I even questioned the wisdom of building a third tier, however, any good business man will look to the future. The second third tier is a long way off in my opinion. What does this say? City do have a good set of fans, never as boisterous as some but we can only sit and admire what is being served up to day, the last few seasons have been a joy to watch.
Also, City are just returning about 2000 tickets for the Semi, they have sold 25K, these are the higher priced ones £120+ City have 3 games in London now, Saturday we K.O at 17.30 , last train from Euston 21.24…good planning by FA and TV and again expense plus the Spurs and crystal palace within days of each other. It was a Utd Official, not sure which one, who stated they would still be profitable without fans. Indicating, they do not need them, financialy. Makes a mockery of how the game has changed I would not go that far but the expense of watching football now is forever increasing. If you take say £40 for a seat, say £10 travelling and £10 on food/drink £60 a game…that is a lot of money out of a family budget, some can afford it obviously and twice a week. I am a fortunate one I have a Seasoncard and is affordable to me but I am makeing a case for the thousands who find it hard supporting there team. I do not see the prices coming down and by default I think attendances will also drop at any ground, football will no longer be value for money_____________________________

4th April 2019 at 9:29 am #36818I agree with you Brian, i knew a City lad from manchester for a good few years back in your torrid days with no expectations, feeding the goat etc…..
United have had 20 odd years of success with no challengers in your neck of the woods so many “new Fans” will have become red as will many around the country….what City are building now and will likely continue to do for a good few years yet will start to mirror that and many new “fans” will start being Blue and their popularity via winning and how they win will continue to grow but it will take time, add that to the costs involved and it wont happen over night no matter how much moeny is spent….but it will happen and if City continue on the current path and dominate for a good while they will be right up there, its the nature of sport
If a small 2nd Div club got a billionaire and won everything they wouldnt suddenly get tens of thousands of “new fans” at every game, it doesnt work like that

4th April 2019 at 11:53 am #36823True story: I noticed on a washing line once in the early 90s a Manchester City Shirt with the then Brother Sponsorship Logo. It belonged to a bloke and he was a family man. He moved out late 90s and recently, I seen him in my neck of the woods and still a lovely decent bloke.
He was the only Man City fan I knew in my neck of the woods.
I don’t what it is, but on a tangent, I don’t these days hardly see even kids and teens wear football shirts compared to my generation in the 90s.
There are notably and naturally are more Leicester City supporters than there will be of say Liverpool and Manchester United, but I suspect geographically across the country, this is how it’s likely to be populated.
Maybe the people attending Ethiad are more likely from the community or just people from all over, and that would include, Europe and Worldwide.

4th April 2019 at 11:56 am #36824The subject of 100 points, I have previously pointed out goes back to Conte and Chelsea winning the League circa 2017.
Pep in his first season sussed out the Premier League, made the signings he needed and literally blasted away relentlessly to achieve what he did.
Klopp in fairness to him this season has had to really raise the standards of Liverpool, and up to this point to stay in tact with Man City, I believe we’ve done exceptionally well.

4th April 2019 at 1:18 pm #36828Nil, Conte guided Chelsea to the PL title in 2016/17 with 30 wins 3 defeats and 93 points, Jose guided Chelsea to the PL title in 2004/05 with 28 wins 1 defeat and 95 points. Ancelotti guided Chelsea to the Double in 2009/10 scoring 103 goals in the PL.

4th April 2019 at 1:32 pm #36829Silly-Willy-Nilly, wait until you see next years turnover figures… one report that I read was claiming over half a billion… not including any CL money… which (if we stay in the CL) puts us in the “YooUtd” level of turnover… off course, we do have a stadium to pay for and all that, but we’re going to be pissing all over FFP rules (which don’t exist anyway!).

4th April 2019 at 1:49 pm #36832Nine, good call. Those facts/stats raised were exceptional and the Chelsea one circa 2005 was NEEDED purely to overcome Man United, with them being the then dominant force.
I think City’s first title in 2012 was actually settled on GD as I’m led to believe the points total was the same.
This year I think it’ll be literally down to the last game.
