I think the changes Watford made made it more difficult for City there was no space for City to play due to hoe Watford set up whilst had Watforc chosen their first eleven they would have played a more open game and City would have probably won more comfortably.

9th March 2019 at 11:16 pm #35312Just watched MOD. A classic case of the need for VAR. City first goal shouldnt have been given nor Newcastle winner and Pickford red card.
I know I go on about it but you get mostly correct decisions._____________________________

10th March 2019 at 1:30 am #35317Anonymous“Mak, city would win that game all day long every day even if watford played their proper 1st 11.”
I don’t agree. i mean, I kinda do but it’s a case of having a small chance and throwing that small chance away, you know? Ok they have an FA Cup game coming but they’ve thrown a PL match to go for it.
Liverpool have a small chance of winning the PL now.. would you say that it wouldn’t matter if they just started experimental teams with next seasons tactics in mind? No because there is a small chance.
It’s not a good analogy but look at the games City have dropped point sin this season. Would you say those teams had a chance before the games started? City all day in most of them but they started with their strongest teams and they made the best of what they had.
Watford were one of the few teams left that had a chance of beating City and they tossed them the points. I’m not bitter about it because I know that we’re responsible for our loss of the title but it’s just that this doesnt help. it’s within their rights but it’s not very sporting.

10th March 2019 at 1:37 am #35318Anonymous“Lol, told you so; these teams are ‘Anti Liverpool’ and only raise their performances towards Liverpool. ”
This is just paranoia. I’m unhappy with what Watford did but you’re suggesting that they threw the game in order to help City? … You’re back to where you used to be man. You want borders between supporters, you get upset if LFC fans arent super positive after a devastating result and the conspiracy rubbish now too.
It’s bad enough that we’ve thrown awya our best chance in decades but to listen to this nonsense on top of it…

10th March 2019 at 1:46 am #35319AnonymousBrian, hope yer not too sick lad. I mean, you’re right, the team that finishes top deserves it. I say this as long as rules arent broken of course but I only mention that because it;s been brought up.. Im not looking for excuse and I honestly see all the fault in what Liverpool have done. there is so much of it.
I kinda worry that we wont be anywhere near ye come the last match and that will kinda put what we’ve done so far to shame.
I can’t decide what i see happening tomorrow. it could be anything. We could batter Burnley, or we could lose points. You know, Im sick of saying how we’ve got this or that kind of test, because we’ve had so many variants this season and we’ve passed the vast majority. We really looked like we were the real deal. I was convinced that we would win the title at one stage. i feel a bit silly now for getting carried away but I mean, what is the point in being a supporter if you don’t get caught up in it from time to time. However, I think the clock has maybe truck 12 and everything is turning back to how it was before.
A big win tomorrow will chase away these thoughts and I’ll go into the next game with the same stupid optimism, only to be let down again. 4 draws in the last 6 games is not how you win anything. I’m honestly sick of Liverpool. up and down. Confident and then nervy. On form then off form. Too many bad days for these top players.
I may step away from the sport after this season. The same old shit gets old.

10th March 2019 at 7:27 am #35321Mak. You will end up today one point behind and all to play for.
We have to win every game as do Liverpool and if not………
Burnley SHOULD be straightforward and City winning will add the determination.Chucky. Spurs thought they had it won and lost concentration. Where was the manager to urge them on? Could it have had an effect?

10th March 2019 at 7:53 am #35323Mak and Chucky, I’ve just finished watching the “Sunderland till I die” series on Netflix very good watch if you get the chance.
Football can kick you in the teeth sometimes but none of us have suffered like the Sunderland fans have in recent times.
Don’t give up on the game you love fellas. I’m sure you won’t anyway. Cheers 999

10th March 2019 at 8:16 am #35324Adders… game of two halves mate, Spuds should have been out of sight by HT, Sir Harry could have had a hattrick in the first 15 minutes (I’ve seen score a lot harder chances than those). Then Saints did what most teams do, keep it at 1-0 and then chuck the kitchen sink at us in the last 15/20 minutes. Saints certainly deserved a point, no doubt about that, but Rose went all Billy-Bigboots with his stupid step-over, and the winner was a cracking free-kick. Like I said, Saints deserved a point for their 2nd half, but we did shoot ourselves in the foot a bit too.
27… can’t speak for Mak, but the game I love (or loved might be a better word) isn’t the same game you see today. The money is just obscene, the playacting/cheating is getting out of control, this VAR thing is just going to kill the game. I pretty much only watch Spud games now, can’t be arsed with any others, and even then I don’t organize my day around them anymore. I only watched yesterday’s as the shopping was done and the Monkey was having a sleepover… had nothing else to do. The game is eating itself. I know we have a bit of a laugh and a joke on here so I’ll choose my words carefully, but these whole money clubs have skewed the game to the point unless you support one of the “mega-clubs”, you’re highly unlikely to see your team win anything of note, maybe get lucky with a cup or two every 15 years. Just getting seriously bored with it all, using up time, money and energy that could very well be used to better use.

10th March 2019 at 8:16 am #35325Mak I haven’t watched a game in a month & don’t miss it. I keep hearing the EPL is the toughest of all the comps, we’ll it might be with no city but as predicted their depth has shown how far ahead they are of everyone else. Missing many key players throughout the season & still win it. No matter which way you try to spin it the bottom line is city simply have too much money for others to compete with over a full season. The only way anyone will compete with them in the near future is if this oil baron thing comes off for manu, other than that expect another city win next season. The Sheikh wasn’t kidding when he said they’d win every year. I predicted they’d have it wrapped up with a few games to spare & still think they will. Even if it goes down to a couple to go it don’t matter, I think pretty much everyone knows who’s going to win it.
As for LFC, probably best season for over a decade & still win nothing, I still say I’d rather we played like last season & win nothing than like we have this season. We were exciting to watch but not so this season. Anyhow lads enjoy the summer months, it’s starting to cool down here so that sucks but the positive is some southerly swells coming up the east coast. Cheerio chums._____________________________

10th March 2019 at 8:21 am #35327Chucky spot on old mate, as the saying goes it aint what it used to be. Money has destroyed it for me, along with the cheating/diving etc.
On another note What’s going on with snakebite Wright in the darts, he’s dropped his bundle. Cmon snakebite, get it together man._____________________________

10th March 2019 at 8:44 am #35328Adlab terrible decisions especially Pickford. He didn’t even get a yellow card mate.
Rafa has done a great job for Newcastle.
Nine, watford played the exact same formation with different personal. The manager admitted it was because of watfords next game which is the FA Cup

10th March 2019 at 8:50 am #35329Chuckles, Oz, Mav, I’ll always be a Chelsea fan at heart, but I got disillusioned by prem footy a few years ago now. A lot of that was the stupid money involved it became a profession rather than a passion you got well paid for, I also became more involved in grass roots footy and cricket so had less time. I decided if I was going to go to a pro match it would be lower league and as I have friends that follow Millwall home and away I’d watch them. Unfortunately in some respects they got promoted to the Championship but I did get to see a team win a play off final.
For me I love watching my kids play, win or lose more than pro footy, both of them now ref when they’re not playing so I sometimes get to see kids footy as a neutral which can be a fantastic watch. Also there’s a couple of local non league footy teams, which although it can be a good watch at £10+ a game I’d prefer to watch a park team.
I love footy, and I don’t think you can ever really lose that, I just find that watching the game in its purist form, where it’s all about the game rather than the players celebrity status is far more rewarding…..Pagan

10th March 2019 at 10:19 am #35333mak and Sean thanks for asking…I have spells now where I cannot do much, my wife will tell you I never did much anyway!!!!! As to fans getting fed up and VAR well my opinion for what it is worth is we fans, have fallen into the trap of analysising too much and not enjoying a game of football. Mistakes will always happen in football, VAR or not, sometimes it is hard to take if you are on the receiving end but come on guys…it is a game of football, no more than that I have lived in an era when we were getting bombed out every night and since then have been thankful for everyday
The real problem fans have is the costs of watching and supporting your team, this is going to be a bigger problem in the future. The Media , who now control the game think the money they have put in gives them rights on change our game. They are talking about Neynat and a 300 million transfer fee , this is stupidity at the highest level My advise is to go to a match and just watch a game of football and see the +/- of each team fairly. I have never been tribal and never want to be OK, I am an oddity but I do enjoy a game more this way_____________________________

10th March 2019 at 10:37 am #35336Pagan, couple of very good analogies there mate, not much passion in any shirt these days, it’s a job. Even though we won zilch last season I loved watching us play as we had a crack at every team home or away. Now we still aren’t going to win anything but are nowhere near as good to watch. I can’t justify the 1,2,3 4 or 5 am get ups to watch it any more. Unless it’s after a night on the sauce & I’m still on a high from moonwalking all over the dance floor (probably shouldn’t say that with all this stuff about wacko Jacko coming out).

10th March 2019 at 10:49 am #35338Football is one of the Sports I love and grew up with. I haven’t played personally for several years as lost contact with those I played and grew up with school, college, Uni etc a long time ago. People grow older, get married, settle down, have children, and that’s it.
We’re trying to set something up at work as part of fund-raising for charity. I would love to play.
As Brian rightly points out, much of this now more than ever is controlled by the Media. ‘Discussion’ being raised is often to the detriment of that team and the amusement of the other (the rival).
Or to cause a stir. I can’t start talking about money, when my own team have shelled out Bucket-loads on a Centre-half and a Goalkeeper. At the moment, I am miffed about Refereeing decisions. Very rare do I point the finger at them as I’m aware they have a hard job. Something tells me, VAR will add to the problems than to support. I hope I’m wrong.
Anyway, hope we win today and reduce the GAP back to 1 point. As long as we can keep it like this going into the closing stages, we stand a chance. Drift any further, and as far as this season goes, it’ll be Game Over.
