11th March 2019 at 12:05 pm #35569Nine, yeah something along those lines mate. I think what I was trying to emphasize was the ‘right-to-the-wire’. Sky Sports was brilliant back that time and circa 95 screened both sets of games ala SS1 and SS2.
2012 had that same setting; the final whistle blew at the Stadium of light, but whilst Fergie and the gang waited around, they were soon relayed what had happened at the Ethiad.
In 2014, it wasn’t quite there with City and Liverpool because we had blown it at Palace to make it into a final day decider.
I purely hope from our point of view we give it everything to at least allow ourselves that chance come the final day if it hasn’t by then already been settled.
Cheers

11th March 2019 at 12:21 pm #35571On reflection from yesterday, I was really pleased with Adam Lallana starting. He was almost that blueprint from Southampton; able to track-back and drop deep left-hand side the being that winger and dotting around the left-side of the Penalty area. He was effective and a compliment to Andy Robertson.
Good to see too Robbie Firmino finding the net with ease. When we were up against it, Sadio once again pops along to send out a message that we won’t be beaten.
I have slight doubt though on Salah purely on the basis of finding the net. He’s good in dribbling and being able to assist, but he needs quick-time, a couple of tap-ins just to boost his own levels of confidence and get him going.
We’re going to need something a little extra going forward as far as attacking threat goes and as long as we have a tank full of goals in our locker, I don’t see why we can’t win every single one of our remaining 8 games. Realistically, I put us down to win 6. I think we may stumble out of either/or Newcastle/Southampton Tottenham/Chelsea. Who’s to say though on the final day Wolves will be any pushover?
I don’t think it’s a given for Man City; Brighton away on the last day and the Amex all season hasn’t been a straight-forward place. Brendan Rodgers to might have something in mind when he takes his Leicester side to the Ehtiad; by then they may well be a revived team.
City as long as they remain in the FA Cup and The Champions League inevitably will face fixture pile ups. I’m happy for Pool to stay in the tournament too as I think this time round we can cope better, but we have hope we stay minimal on injuries and don’t drop our form.
Big weeks and exciting times lie ahead 🙂

11th March 2019 at 12:24 pm #35572Steveo, basically it’s like what we had at the old Teamtalk with Thumbs up. Except and rightfully, there’s no thumbing down.
I use it if I like/agree with somebody’s comment or just as an acknowledgement/handshake kind of thing.

11th March 2019 at 12:27 pm #35574I believe the Man United game could be pivotal. Pep may treat this with caution, but I do fancy United to edge this.
They could help Liverpool 🙂

11th March 2019 at 1:21 pm #35576Nil, not another round of “if’s and buts” mate please.
I can’t see Pep sending his team out to play cautiously v United he’s an attack minded Coach and City are an attack based team and will play to their strengths although I doubt they will go gung ho.
As for the Brighton v City game at the end of the Season it might not go that far but if it did out of all the away games City might have to play on the last day of the season I suspect Brighton away would be up there as one of their choices.
Just let things take their course Nil the team that deserves to win the PL over 38 games will win it.

11th March 2019 at 3:04 pm #35581Nil-United are good going forward but our defence is rubbish, and against a classy side like City it will be a case of how many will City score. We have improved a great deal since Jose is gone, but we still the same team!

11th March 2019 at 3:18 pm #35583The 100 points basically stemmed from the previous season in 93 points obtained by Chelsea. I never realised up to now how well Conte did and credit to him.
What else therefore was Pep meant to do to raise standards? Exactly.
Previous trends show an average of 83/85 points. That will surpass no doubt. The competitiveness and currency in quality is greater, but with that, there is a bit of a gulf when compared to 7th place onwards.

11th March 2019 at 3:20 pm #35584Mav, first defeat there mate since Jose which was almost 3 months ago. There’s definitely a transformation with Ole, same players or not and you’ll put yourselves in a brilliant position to claim 3rd/4th places.

11th March 2019 at 4:09 pm #35586Nil, Conte settled better than Pep and came up with a formation that trams found difficult to cope with. Shame Conte and the Club fell out.
I suspect the title will be won this season on 90 points plus I can’t see either team dropping too many between now and the end of the season. Max points win would be 98 by City which would be less than they achieved last season and that’s a hard ask. Maybe 95pts will win it which would allow City to drop 3 points the point difference and the goal difference gives City effectively a two point advantage over Liverpool and 95 points for City would be a tough one for Liverpool but who knows you just have to let it play out and see what happens.

11th March 2019 at 4:11 pm #35587Mav, Jose to PSG or Inter then?
ZZ to Real puts more pressure on a Hazard move to Real without he does a Griezmann.

11th March 2019 at 7:44 pm #35592Mav, probably the best appointment Real could make given all the circumstances and he’s got what he wanted a significant say in player recruitment.
They’ll be back in there fighting for trophies next season if the buy wisely.
