Chelsea have a game in hand over the above other 3 and only a 4 point separation.
Places of 3rd and 4th up for grabs. Somebody narrowly I feel will miss out. A lot has been aired on here about the love of the game and the money, but I don’t think the standards are bad and if anything, there’s another 21 or so points up for grabs and City and Liverpool are likely to reach the 90 point mark.
The chasing pack will definitely go in their 80s for points. Not a one-sided league by a long-chalk and we have 4 English teams still in the CL.

10th March 2019 at 6:33 pm #35469It is Ed Spurs 61pts, Arsenal 60pts, United 58 ltd and Chelsea 57 pts with a game in hand at home to Brighton.
It couldn’t be closer.
Still think it’s two from the first three though unfortunately.

10th March 2019 at 6:34 pm #35470No doubt Banjo, but Man Utd lost the game today because they
– Made a big mistake with the first goal.
– Didnβt convert their chances.
– And then let the opportunity for an Arsenal attacker to run at them very close to goal, which in this climate with soft penalties, is always risky. The soft penalties and cheating are wrong, but both sides have the opportunity to get them. Had a United attacker done similar, would Man Utd complain? Therein lies the problem. Teams/fans accept the decision when it goes their way. So nothing changes.

10th March 2019 at 6:37 pm #35471Adlab, do you ever stop going on about bloody Fred, Sanchez and Jorginho? ?
Fred I think will come good. Sanchez is an odd one. Seems to have done a Torres and just forgotten how to play football. To be fair, you got Mahrez instead of Sanchez and he ain’t much better!

10th March 2019 at 6:43 pm #35472Watching the City game yesterday I thought Mahrez is not a City player.

10th March 2019 at 6:51 pm #35473Donβt know how youβd actually ban a fan from a ground. A points deduction would make a lot of fans think again though!

10th March 2019 at 6:59 pm #35474It’s difficult Mikus. It’s managing the situation for the whole of 90 minutes and there’s thousands. It’s usually those ones being placed closer to the pitch and has easy access – always challenging for the Stewards/Security.
The one action that can be taken prior is proper stop-search and that’s before entering the turnstiles. As over-reactive as it may sound, Grealish could have been attacked by a ‘weapon’.

10th March 2019 at 7:06 pm #35475Ed…..touched a nerve?
Nine. Know what you mean about Mahrez. He doesnt hold on to the ball long enough which disrupts the pattern of play. Im quite sure Pep tries to drum it in during training. Good spot. Something I discussed with others at various games.
Ed. We paid Β£60m!
Birmingham. I would make them play the next game at home behind closec doors. Very different from the fan running on at Arsenal.

10th March 2019 at 7:08 pm #35476It would be a double deterrent though Nil. If a fan did such a thing would they do it if theyβd be a points deduction? – and if they still did it in that case, the other fans would then go after them big time for costing the team.

10th March 2019 at 7:10 pm #35477Therein is the biggest problem of all, you’re 100% right when you say fans/players/etc… will take them all day long when it goes for them… and then whine like little piglets when it doesn’t… and now we have VAR to look forward too… I can hear the whining already… “Check the vid, ref, check the vid”… I mean, we’ve already seen one team show up at a press conference with their own “video evidence” to suggest the official video replays were wrong… next seasons press conferences are going to look like this…

10th March 2019 at 7:13 pm #35478Adlab, hardly mate. I thought the laughing emoji was a big enough hint at my tone! It takes an awful lot to touch a nerve with me.
My point was that the alternative to Sanchez isn’t much better. Β£60mil is an awful lot of money for Mahrez IMO. We signed a real dud in Sanchez though. It’s odd that the 2 most successful managers in recent times wanted him so much and yet he’s just done nothing.

10th March 2019 at 7:14 pm #35479Adlab although no excuses and grown ups themselves should behave in a responsible manner, when it comes to geographical rivalry, there’s likely to be a splash whether on the pitch or outside it.
Leicester-Forest, Derby-Forest is one of the worse out of the Midlands and no lesser with the pairing of Birmingham and Villa.
The whole affair needs to be treaded with more caution and with the support of the Local Council. The problem nationwide at the moment is the cuts and the Police Force as you’re probably aware are in shortage.
Something like a point deduction as a punishment may get the fans thinking, though a fool proof prevention of a moment of madness, there’s just no guarantees other than the fixture simply being played closed doors.

10th March 2019 at 7:15 pm #35480Banjo, were a far cry from the 90s era when Robbie Fowler actually went up to the ref after coming down to actually admit to him βthat wasnβt a penalty!β

10th March 2019 at 7:20 pm #35482Games more than ever in the modern day are often defined by fine margins. There are stakes albeit the ‘testimonial’ on the final day.
I don’t expect players (at any club) to show ultra honesty. In those situations, where any slight contact will likely to tender towards buying a Penalty.
The player of course will go down. It’s down to the Officials to judge the situation and call it as they see fit. Hopefully, VAR will aid this next season.

10th March 2019 at 7:34 pm #35483Thing is Nil, all VAR is going to determine is whether contact is actually made or not. It’s not going to determine whether it was enough contact to create the broken spine/shattered fibula reactions the players are going to give. That part is still down to the ref’s discretion, yet now he’s going to have players/managers in his ears to go and look at the screen. I fully expect the acting to get worse, as I expect players to fall down even easier and under the merest brief of a touch, because they know the ref is going to look at the screen, see contact, give the pen…
I’ll be you a Mars Bar, Can of Apple Tango and a bag of Monster Munch (in a flavour of your choice) that next season will see a considerable increase on the numbers of peno’s given than this season.

10th March 2019 at 7:36 pm #35484Mr. Balance,
If an opposition (away) fan runs on the pitch, who do you deduct the points from.
Whatβs to stop a fan from another club running onto a pitch to get the other club points deducted?
Is it fair to punish a whole club, for the actions of one idiot?

10th March 2019 at 7:39 pm #35485I don’t agree with points deductions at all only what happens in games on the pitch should impact on results. What’s to stop a City fan running on to the pitch at Anfield in order to get Liverpool a points deductions or vice a versa absolutely the wrong way to go imo.
Life time bans for the idiots who do it.

10th March 2019 at 7:43 pm #35487Why bother with a lifetime ban? A couple of years of porridge more like… a lifetime ban isn’t much of a punishment and isn’t going to stop those wanting to go out in a blaze of glory so to speak.
