a last min goal is not good luck.
We fully deserved a draw at Chelsea. Everton maybe.
City itβs a missed pen. Note there misfortune
City should have had Kompabu sent off in 1st few mins v burnley
Goal given when ball was out of play
Clear pen not given to bournemouth at city for push on back when score was 2-1
Alonso should have been sent off bervus bournemouth and Brighton
Liverpool fully deserve to be were they are. Maybe if goal was given at aresnal we be further ahead

21st December 2018 at 11:48 am #29879Is it βluckβ? Or is it psychological failure under pressure experienced by the opposition? I get irked for example when people say a penalty shootout is a lottery. No itβs not, itβs actually a stern test of mental and psychological strength.

21st December 2018 at 12:06 pm #29882Banjo, in many of those instances, it could well be argued that it was equally the defences fault. For example, letting the attacker shoot and hit the bar. If you allow your own crossbar to be rattled, you have failed to defend properly.

21st December 2018 at 12:34 pm #29883Mikus… that’s kinda my point, do you blame the defense? Or go back 3 seconds and blame the midfield for not covering the defense? Or blame the person who turned the ball-over? Or the manager for picking the team?Or can we just blame Maureen? π
My point is going do the path of “we were a bit unlucky, coulda, woulda, shoulda!” when debating how many extra (or not) points teams should have is a bit like going down the rabbit hole… you’ll never get to the end of it. Scores are on the doors, points on the board, it is what it is and that was that… Pool have 45 points, that ain’t gonna change….

21st December 2018 at 7:40 pm #29899They’re still not lucky situations Nine, scoring in injury time often takes some doing, even it pains me to acknowledge a positive Man Utd trait.
Anyway we are moving away from the original post… So Oz now do you believe?

21st December 2018 at 8:25 pm #29901Correct Chuky…”scores on door” is the only statistic that is right, everything else, the’if’s and Maybe’S ” totaly irrelevant I do not believe in historical references either, we have won the league last season but to me, it has past, the moment of joy gone but not forgottern, the only thing that matters to me is how we shape up for the next game, whoever it is. I disagreed with the great Shankly…there are more important things than football and you have to question recent fans behaviour to see our great game being taken over
However, ever the optimist, although a pragmatic one, I wish everyone a good festive season and hope 2019 brings happiness to you all_____________________________

21st December 2018 at 10:04 pm #29904Another professional performance tonight. Very German I thought – not spectacular but bloody effective. Be good to hold on to the ball a bit better though.

21st December 2018 at 10:30 pm #29905HAHA, threeps, as I said mate I believe we now have a steel we lacked in previous seasons but still convinced c$ty will eventually pull away & their superior quality in depth will prove too much. It’s unfortunate as this is the best state I’ve seen LFC in for many years, top manager, building a great spine & match winners to boot.
As for the game, great win in very difficult conditions where we once again showed great metal to see out a very important win. They’ve taken points off some top teams so that was a great win._____________________________

21st December 2018 at 11:21 pm #29908A lot of games coming up in a short time now 9 & a couple of those against Arsenal & the big one against c$ty. Look at it like this, do you think c$ty will drop more points than Liverpool? All it takes is them to beat us at their ground & they’ll be in the box seat & we will be relying on someone else to take points from them whilst we don’t drop any. That’s even if we don’t drop points before then, which is very possible considering we play Arsenal.
No doubt we are looking strong & hard to beat but they are just another level IMO & they’ve been doing it without arguably their best player._____________________________

21st December 2018 at 11:32 pm #29909Oz, I’m going to make a prediction now.
If City don’t win it Liverpool will.?
Christmas will be an important period for both Club’s as will the game at the Etihad which could prove pivotal.
I still think it will be City with KDB coming back along with one or two others but I wouldn’t discount Liverpool’s chances of winning it, be a killer not to win it if Liverpool top 100 points. I think both could push each other to new heights.

22nd December 2018 at 2:10 am #29911AnonymousI think I said it on here that this Wolves game presented a different kind of challenge. They are a very capable side but you could be forgiven for easing off a bit heading into it, after the games we’ve just come out of. The Utd result and performance were huge and Liverpool teams of old would have taken their foot off the gas and dropped points today. This is an indication that the team have have the right mentality, that they have their eyes on the big picture.
I’m going to say it. I think we’re good enough to win the title this season.
Don’t mistake that for me saying that we’re favourites, we’re not. I think we’re reeling in city in terms of the odds and every match is a new test. This game was bigger than it seemed though. They talk about winning when you’re not playing well.. I don’t rate that as highly as others TBH. I do however think the world of a team that remains focused and sustains that drive, especially the natural upping of performances for big games has come and gone.
I think we’ve a 40% chance of doing it now. That is a huge way up from my recent thoughts of 15-20%. it’s unfortunate that we’re up against the best PL side ever, otherwise I’d say “lads, we’re the real deal and I don’t think we’re going to be stopped”… but you can’t forget the fact that city won’t drop points tomorrow. I say fact because it essentially is. The only thing I can fall back on here is that City haven’t been mentally tested in this phase. They walked the league last season. I’ll probably watch the game tomorrow and keep a keen eye out for cracks but I’m not expecting to find any yet.

22nd December 2018 at 12:02 pm #29914AnonymousTo the Liverpool fans on here, I donβt mean to piss on your parade or anything and I fully believe Liverpool deserve to be top of the league. But has the team become far too reliant on salah? Firmino and mane have been really poor and salah seems to be involved in every goal scored at the moment. Do you feel if he got injured it would be a big problem? People always said it about kane and spurs but have always been proven wrong.
