20th December 2018 at 3:29 pm #29840AnonymousI would genuinely believe if Man city weren’t so incredible. I don’t like to think of it as cut and dry in that we either win the league or we’re a failure though. This is definitely the most capable side that I’ve had the pleasure of supporting. The most capable doesn’t necessarily win all the cups.
I said it before though in that City are at their peak level. Its maybe a level we can never reach but our maximum level is yet to be determined. I think over time the team is looking more settled than before. Fabinho and Keita are looking the part now. It’s another piece of Klopp’s masterplan coming together.
If you want to ask about belief, I will say that I now 100% believe that Klopp is substance and not just a super charismatic guy. I say this because 18 months ago, or so, the talk was all about Klopp being one dimensional. Our team couldn’t defend to save their lives. We were a glass cannon. At one stage the possibility of him getting the sack was being bandied around by the media and some fans. I think it’s clear to all now though that Klopp can do it all. So, while it’s easy to complain about the attack not being as good, we’ve now got one of the best defences in Europe. That’s an incredible turn-around.
Midfield is/was next and it’s starting to work itself out. I hope that we’ll soon step up another level. TBH we’ll need to if we’re to keep winning.

20th December 2018 at 8:42 pm #29845There was no buts about the the manu game, the better team won.
Mak your spot on mate, over the course of the whole season I think we now have the steel & balance to finish above everyone BUT c$ty. It might not be this week or next but we will drop points & with c$ty playing pretty much all the big guns away I just cannot see them dropping less points than us. Look at it that way, do u think c$ty will drop more points than us over the rest of the season. Not a chance. As Iโve said many times c$ty just have too much quality in depth & will definitely win the EPL & probably the C/L as well._____________________________

21st December 2018 at 5:04 am #29851AnonymousI do still think that City will likely win the league. My 2 hopes are that we’re still developing and improving. Also that their character hasn’t been tested yet. They ran away with the league so fast last term that only their footballing ability has been tested. If you look at the matches we played them in. We beat them 3 times out of 4, so they can be got at , even at their best. That’s as hopeful as I can sound about it though. They are the best side I’ve ever seen. We are one of the best sides I’ve ever seen. We’re ever improving but w cant drop points against Wolves, or th enext team.. etc etc.. I think Man City have actually made Klopps job a lot easier in a way. He doesn’t need to hammer home how important every win is. If we can keep it going then we’ll eventually see how well City deal with the pressure.. We all know that this is probably the only way that we beat them. They have everything else laid out and pristine. The only way they lose this to us (assuming we’re up to this), is with a test of their character. Maybe we’ll see the cracks? Maybe they break their 100 point record!
We won’t finish 30 points behind this time. We’re still in the CL. Thank christ for that because this wlves match could have ended our season :PPP

21st December 2018 at 8:07 am #29853I canโt see Liverpool
Winning the league. Something always pops up along the way. The way we lost it in 2014 was heart breaking. We always seem to fuck it up right at the final hurdle.Thatโs why I donโt believe. We are a very good side but city are better and as mak said, if they werenโt as good, Iโd fancy us for the league but as Aussie said, we will drop silly points at some stage which is totally understandable

21st December 2018 at 8:39 am #29854Sean thatโs my reasoning as well, we bottled it that year & thatโs not forgetting the Europa final which we were favourites for. I do think we have a bit more steel about us now but reality is the depth c$ty have is far superior, as it should be the money theyโve spent on it. We will see them drift off into the distance over the next couple of months.

21st December 2018 at 8:43 am #29856Liverpool boys. Youve had a good slice of luck so far and I think what might change would not be your good play but a bit of bad luck or injuries to key players. A looooonnnggg way to go yet!

21st December 2018 at 8:47 am #29857Liverpool rode their luck v City, Chelsea and Everton without those results going in their favour they would be 5 points behind City now.
Will it run out or is it the mark of a title winning team that’s the big question?

21st December 2018 at 9:25 am #29864Can’t do luck cyber chum, otherwise I could say they (Pool) were lucky Erik’s shot hit the post and that would have been 2-2 against the Spuds… we could play that game all year (and next year!). Or Spuds having one cleared of the line against City.. that’s 1-1 there too…
Then we’d have a table with Pool on 43, City on 42 and Spuds on 41…

21st December 2018 at 10:13 am #29867The last minute equaliser v Chelsea, the very late penalty miss by City and the last minute freak goal v Everton are all stand out moments but you need a little bit of luck to win the title so that’s a positive for Liverpool imo.

21st December 2018 at 10:32 am #29870Never understand that scoring a goal late in the game was lucky. Yes the Everton one was as it can’t be expected that their keeper would make such a mistake, but vs Chelsea? Lucky how? That we scored near the end, how does that change anything? We we be less lucky if we scored it 5 minutes earlier?

21st December 2018 at 10:51 am #29871If we’re going to “argue” about luck, can we bring in dodgy ref calls too? ๐
It is what it is, and the points are on the board… in the words of Metalica, Nothing Else Matters… ๐

21st December 2018 at 11:13 am #29874threeps, most title winners need a bit of good fortune along the way I’ve always counted Chelsea fortunate when they’ve equalised in the last few minutes of an important game different strokes for different folks I guess.
But discount the Chelsea game and look at the late penalty miss by Mahrez v City and the injury time equaliser v Everton and tell me that wasn’t good fortune.
As Garry Player said “it’s amazing how much luckier I get the harder I practice”. Most teams need a bit of good fortune along the way to win the title It’s a good thing mate not a negative.?

21st December 2018 at 11:27 am #29877Luck generally evens itself out, it was against us vs Arsenal with Mane’s goal. Man city and Everton were lucky I agree, but not Chelsea. We could of been out of sight if we taken our chances, so could Chelsea. Was a great game and 1-1 was about right but scoring a perfectly legitimate goal that relied on skill rather than good fortune well within the allocated time is not luck.
Think luck with injuries is more important to a title winning team than anything else.
