22nd November 2021 at 12:50 pm #189494Don’t disagree with any of that Sean. Absolute shambles. People wonder why the fans still protest despite Utd spending a lot of money and you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head. Just so badly run it’s unreal. No direction, no structure, no idea. Let’s face it though, the Glazers are going nowhere so the best we can hope for is a decent manager.
We’ve got every single managerial decision wrong post Ferguson. Moyes, the job was too big for him to follow Ferguson directly. LVG was past it and done nothing of note since. Mourinho was seriously on the decline as seen by his record since. Solskjaer was a mistake waiting to happen.
Spurs were rubbish until Poch came along and he at least made them challengers. Liverpool weren’t great until Klopp came along. City and Chelsea are so well run that they’re less dependent on finding a world class manager than us, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal etc. I have every faith that we’ll be fine if we make the right appointment despite the board and owners.

22nd November 2021 at 12:55 pm #189495Poch should bring stability. He’ll get them better defensively & they’ll be more organised. Not sure his teams have played with enough freedom & fluidity up top for me which I think has limited his success, but an improvement nonetheless.

22nd November 2021 at 1:00 pm #189496I’m far from convinced about him Mikus but at least he has a way of playing which would give us some kind of identity, if indeed it is him who comes in. We’ve lacked that for some time.

22nd November 2021 at 6:17 pm #189514AnonymousSo Carrick says he relishes the thought of managing United and can wait to get going, does that also mean his happy Solsjkaer was sacked. Sounds like it.

22nd November 2021 at 7:46 pm #189516Utd need to stop with nostalgia of ex players. I know I keep saying it but it’s ah exact replica of Liverpool from the 90s.
Get a good sporting director who can get good money for surplus players. The likes of Pogba and martial wouldn’t get near any of the top 3 teams. Martial was an absolute disgrace on Saturday. Pushed off the ball far to easily and no interest. Pogba hasn’t worked out. Every season utd fans are hoping he comes good as he is clearly a very good player. Get him out.
Liverpool, Chelsea and city all have good sporting directors who work well with the manager. Liverpool and Chelsea get ridiculous money for average players or fringe players.
I’m not a huge fan of poch but his team are as fit as hell who work very hard and play some stuff. He has a way of playing. He is their best option from a very limited pick of half decent managers around

22nd November 2021 at 10:57 pm #189517I think judging Poch negatively purely based on his time at Spurs is really unfair. He genuinely took them from being a bottom half team to challenging for the title. He brought in unknowns (Son) and he brought through youth. Had he been backed with more serious player investment who knows what he could have achieved. He’s also still so young managerially and still learning so to be performing at the level he is at his age is impressive IMO. Whilst he was at Spurs he turned them into my second team.If he finds his home he could become an institution at a club, similar to Fergie and Wenger

23rd November 2021 at 7:31 am #189521That all sounds great Foxy but you could have used pretty much the same text about David Moyes. He overachieved much more than Pochettino. Hardly spent anything. Didn’t have the best striker in world football to turn to. Played some good football. The same was said then. “Imagine if Moyes had a lot of money to spend”. Well, we didn’t need to imagine it for much longer. It’s great in theory, the whole overachieving at one club and expecting it to be the case wherever that manager goes. What it doesn’t take into account is increased expectations, dealing with bigger egos etc.
I certainly hope Poch can come in and do a good job, assuming he comes in, but doing what he did at Spurs under very little pressure and expectation is a completely different prospect to managing at Utd.

23rd November 2021 at 7:34 am #189522Son was not unknown foxy. I certainly knew who he was. My main issue is he hasn’t won anything. He’s flopped so far at psg with an array of top talent but it’s early days there
Still when spurs were at their peak with him, they were an excellent side. He also did a very good job at Southampton . Spurs got yo two finals under him and were dreadful. Was has he actually done to be considered for the biggest job in world football
A lot of Utd fans are keen on him and he will go there so let’s wait abd see but certainly as a Liverpool fan it doesn’t worry me
Also Rodgers is not an option. I think he is A very good coach but Leicester can’t defend. They are to soft. I think he’s done a great job there so far but this season has been poor so far and he’s spent a lot of money .

23rd November 2021 at 7:40 am #189524Very well put Ed.,it’s an absolutely huge job. The pressure and scrutiny be immense. By the sounds of it he’s struggling with egos at psg. I think he is a strong minded man. He seems to be a great man manager and maybe dealing with all those egos at psg will help him
Even tuchel said, a huge issue at psg was the top players egos and their entourage. Tuchel doesn’t seem to be a man who stands for any shite .
Ah I’ve no idea how it will turn out. Poch is very likeable. I think without a doubt he be the new manager. There really aren’t to many choices

23rd November 2021 at 7:46 am #189528Biggest job in world football
Who said this Chucky? 😆. It’s one of them for sure. Not sure what City being better than us has to do with anything. The City job isn’t as big a job as the Utd job. Nowhere near. They’re a much, much better side though. The Liverpool, Utd and England jobs are the toughest/biggest jobs in the country for expectation, pressure etc.

23rd November 2021 at 7:54 am #189531Ah I missed that. Yeah I’d certainly say it’s one of them purely because it’s such an expectant, vast fanbase. The biggest though? No idea
