Pagan, so you think clubs pay these compensation packages when they don’t need to, as they could simply sack them and skip the payoff? You want to get on to the chairmen in the PL! You’ll make them very happy.

21st November 2021 at 10:51 am #189289Pagan, your original post stated “he’s getting his contract paid up without actually having to work it, not a bad life really” Ole is not getting his contract paid up that would have cost United over £18m he’s getting a year’s salary in compensation. And he’s been sacked however it’s dressed up.

21st November 2021 at 10:51 am #189290He had to go. No other choice but to appoint carrick till they find someone. Really feared utd getting conte but no fear of zidane or poch or really anyone out there . Can’t see much changing.
So much wrong with utd from top to bottom and reminds me of liverpool for decades. So many bad decisions being made constantly

21st November 2021 at 10:52 am #189291Complete agree Sean, though I suspect we’d be in the same position in 18months or so had we appointed Conte.

21st November 2021 at 10:55 am #1892929, Ole has not been sacked, if he had 100% it would end up in litigation, he’s had his contract bought out, which means he has to lose something which is salary, but he gains not being employed so gets his freedom to work elsewhere. Can’t believe you don’t understand that…………Pagan

21st November 2021 at 10:55 am #189293Ed, doesn’t seem that much to choose from between Carrick and Fletcher as you rightly say someone has to do it. You wouldn’t want it to go on too long though. Could have done with all this happening after next Sunday though.😊

21st November 2021 at 11:02 am #189296Seemingly Sky Sports and the rest of the media think Ole has been sacked too!😊
“Manchester United have sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The “difficult decision” was taken “with regret”, the club said.
The former striker will “always be a legend” at Old Trafford, it added.
Former United midfielder and current club coach Michael Carrick will take charge of “forthcoming games”.
The club is looking to appoint an “interim manager to the end of the season”.
Ed the last bit is a bit of a worry don’t you think?

21st November 2021 at 11:05 am #189297Sounds like they’re waiting until the summer to make a permanent appointment anyway which I think is wise if the right person isn’t yet available
Carrick will take charge of forthcoming games but United say they will appoint an interim until end of season.
Which suggests they will until end of season before permanent choice, which is probably one of their smarter moves in all this.
Opens way for Ten Hag/Pochettino…

21st November 2021 at 11:07 am #189298Nine, not necessarily. If thy can’t get who they want now, I’m fine with them saying they’ll bring someone in on an interim basis until the summer. Chelsea have done that quite successfully with Hiddink/Rafa on a number of occasions.

21st November 2021 at 11:07 am #189299Yep Sean he got sacked and was paid a year’s salary in compensation but not his contract paid up which was Pagans original claim and would have cost United over £18m.
Very difficult to compare mere mortals like you and I etc to top Football Managers it’s a completely different world.

21st November 2021 at 11:09 am #189300Ducker also seems to think he’s been sacked. The club are ever going to use the term “sacked” themselves.
Solskjaer sacked. Woodward arrived at Carrington at 9am to deliver the news OGS was braced for. Carrick will take charge of Villarreal while #MUFC look to appoint an interim until the end of the season four months after awarding OGS a new three year deal https://t.co/rBQ2A5sdj7

21st November 2021 at 11:18 am #189304For all the comments I’m seeing online about him, I really don’t get it. So many saying he steadied a sinking ship and left Man U in a better position than he joined. How so exactly? Did they win anything under him? No. Did they win anything under the previous manager? Yes. Is the dressing room better? Irrelevant as anyone coming in has to essentially start again from scratch.
He should have only been what he was brought on as, the caretaker manager. The whole feel good factor was never going to last under a clueless manager. Soon enough players, fans and board would lose patience and essentially what has happened is Man U have lost 3 years and are no better off.I said it a few months ago and I’ll say it again. If Man U’s aim is to see out the season then appoint someone long term, Guus Hiddink is the perfect candidate. Has a track record of doing this with semi-decent squads and achieving brilliant results. Players also like playing under him.

21st November 2021 at 11:35 am #189305From Manchester United
‘In a statement, Manchester United said Solskjaer had “left his role as manager”.
This is also from Sky, the same article actually, massive headline to get attention followed by the facts, 9 (king of the selective cut and paste) if they sacked him it would end up in court, they’ve paid him off end of story…………Pagan

21st November 2021 at 11:55 am #189309Exactly Lucky, where I work, if you get sacked it’s no compensation and you lose all the pension contributions the company has paid, same in the police, that’s why they all try to resign when they facing serious allegations.
Let’s face it if we could all get a pay off, we’d be trying to get sacked 12 months before we are due to retire………Pagan

21st November 2021 at 11:56 am #189310That’s what I don’t agree with: these compensation pay offs. If we lost our job we would be lucky to get a Reference.
