Bloody hell… another Kane free-kick… at least he missed the wall this time… along with everything else.

27th November 2021 at 11:46 am #189923The appointment of Ragnick was a surprise, not the interim position more the consultant or whatever itΒ΄s being called. Is this a change of direction for Utd? Will they look to develop a system and style in the Ragnick mould?
With this in mind I`m going to throw in a name that I think hasnΒ΄t been mentioned and will probably be thrown out by you lot, Marco Rose. He worked at RB Salzburg, I assume in close connection with Ragnick at Leipzig and is credited for a lot of the success Salzburg enjoy. He is highly regarded as a coach and plays the similar high press style a lot of German coaches use. He moved from RBS to BMG and then this season to BVB and in the league they are only 1 point behind Bayern (although we all know who will win!). BVB might not have the World presige of Utd but it’s still a big club, and a few from there have gone on and done well (Klopp, Tuchel).
The arguement against would be he’s not high profile enough, or not got experience of a huge club with huge stars. But Utd have went down that road before with van Gaal and Mourinho and look how that went. Maybe taking a punt on a young dynamic manager with a respected coaching reputation will worth a go this time.
Having said all that it will probably be Poch…

27th November 2021 at 4:01 pm #189974Was the thinking at Utd, basically, βRight, who mentored/inspired Tuchel & Klopp? Rangnick? Right, get him in!β? Given the success at both those clubs, wouldnβt be a bad idea in theory.

I just wonder why ragnick never was involved with a really big club as he is highly thought of in the game

That does concern me too Sean. If he’s that good, what’s he doing in Moscow? I’m hopeful but it’s one hell of a challenge to come in mid-season and turn us from one of the least hard working sides in the league to probably the hardest working side in the league, especially with the personnel we have. He’s been rumoured for a number of years to have been a candidate for a director role so I don’t think it’s as much of a whim appointment as recent ones.
I’m certainly more hopeful than I am optimistic. His style of football is at least more modern and exciting than any of the other managers we’ve brought in post-Ferguson. I can’t help but feel there’s a touch of the Bielsa-factor around him though. Bielsa also seems to have this aura and mystique. Managers like Poch and Pep idolise Bielsa and point to him as an inspiration, yet Bielsa himself has hardly won anything and is looking like he may take Leeds down now.
In that sense, I’m more optimistic about his role beyond this season as I think we need an overhaul of the whole club from someone who isn’t “one of the boys”. If nothing else, he could be a good transition manager, in that he will introduce a way of playing throughout the whole club and set us up for the right manager to take over in the summer who can take us that final step towards actually challenging. Him helping to choose that manager is a massive step forward from Woodward and Ferguson having their way.

30th November 2021 at 9:30 am #190194Itβs going to be very interesting to see how he gets on Ed chum. The main thing is he has a plan, a clear vision of how he wants to play. Next thing is does he have the players that can implement his pressing game etc. Will he play a high line with verane has the recovery defender
It took klopp a good while for us to execute the exact way he wanted us to play but look how quick tuchel found a winning formula and team structure
Pep got players like kdb and silva absolutely running their balls off. Players you thought that didnβt have the work rate in them
Very interesting to see how this pans out
