Sweedy, cyber chum, nobody is debating who’s the biggest club in the world, we’re just pointing out who isn’t… π

23rd November 2021 at 1:13 pm #189557“Utd defo one of biggest clubs in the world.” Of course they are Lucky and the majority of football fans would agree with that. Almost impossible to claim who is the biggest Club in the world but the Ed has never claimed that.
What’s more important though is that United are seemingly big enough to attract Pochettino away from PSG despite PSG being one of the favourites for the CL and having Neymar, Messi and Mbappe in their team.
The questions are can United get Pochettino now or will they have to wait until the Summer and whilst Pochettino looks the best candidate for United , United fans will be concerned that Pochettino flunked every opportunity to win a trophy at Spurs and failed to win Ligue 1 with PSG in what was a one horse race.
But Pochettino is a better bet than Ole and probably the best available to United.

23rd November 2021 at 1:20 pm #189558They will likely get him confirmed before next week imo nine. If he is their number 1, and he is as keen as reported, then Zidane being a free agent will mean PSG can afford it to happen now, providing Zidane wants to join PSG of course.

23rd November 2021 at 2:09 pm #189566“You can be a top manager and not win titles.
The managers that have the chance to win the titles are at top, top clubs with good investments and exceptional players.
Otherwise, for manager, it is impossible to win.β Pep on Poch today.

23rd November 2021 at 2:26 pm #189567But the chemistry and conditions also have to be right. I’m just not sure, thinking more about it, that Poch has enough authority/charisma for the Utd job. They’re still desperate to find that long term man at all costs and think he’s the best candidate for that. As Ed has alluded to, this idea that a manager overachieving at a club has just needed more money is too simplistic regarding their prospects at clubs with higher expectations. It’s a very different environment.
Poch should perhaps have been the manager to bridge the gap that Solksjaer was deemed to be. But I’m not sure he should be deemed as the manager to get them to the final destination.
Clubs have to be ruthless with managers, and use them to get to certain points, then install a better candidate when one is available. No better example than Chelsea with regards to Tuchel following Lampard.

That’s about the size of it Lucky.
Long term solutions are almost impossible to find now days Klopp is a one off and the days of Managers lasting the lengths of SAF and Wenger are long gone.
I doubt United will be offering Pochettino a 6 year contract like they did Moyes.

23rd November 2021 at 3:35 pm #189571One thing for sure with poch is he will play and likely get the best of both sancho and van de beek. He will not play 4 forwards and allow utd to get over run in wide areas every week. They will be much more balanced for sure.
He is a student of bielsa though so not sure Ed be happy with a manager who studies a myth π

23rd November 2021 at 4:09 pm #189572Why wouldn’t he believe in myths, Nepolean? He obviously believes in fairytales if he thinks YooUtd are the biggest club in the world…

23rd November 2021 at 4:15 pm #189573I’d definitely take Poch ahead of Rodgers, he’s a more balanced manager. But it’s then ultimately a question of exactly how far he could take them. I think under Poch, they’d probably have to unload the likes of Ronaldo & Pogba sooner rather than later.

23rd November 2021 at 4:46 pm #189576Oh 100% Poch over Rodgers. I’d probably take Bruce over Rodgers π. It’s one thing being a bottler but being a bottler and an ex Liverpool manager is just not ok.
