Agree with that Taxi. Could and probably should have been a better window for Liverpool but they’ve still managed to strengthen the squad and hold onto their star player. There’s some frightening pace in that team now

1st September 2017 at 6:54 am #4497All in all, not too bad for my mob, the squad is certainly strengthened, perhaps not the first 11, and quite happy with Llorentttetettteee and not that disappointed with Vinny staying too. Bit gutted we didn’t get Barkley, somebody to keep the Erik, Ali & Co. on their toes would have been nice (and Barkley training/playing with Ali & Kane would have been good for England too I reckon!).
As for the Chelsea “rejects”, can’t wait to hear 9,nine,nein’s take on it. It would certainly seem something is going on behind the scenes, players are normally queuing up to sign up there. What do they know that we don’t?
Overall, reckon the Manc clubs had the best “summer”, YooUTd buying two players that went straight into the first 11 and looked at home from the get go, City just buying everybody left, right and center, even if 17 doesn’t go into 11. Pepe’s man-management skills are going to be needed there to keep everybody happy, but if he can, I reckon we’re all playing for 2nd.
Pool added a lot of pace up top, a handful for everybody, still a bit suspect at the back.
Goonies, put the kettle on and watch the melt-down, going to be both epic and thoroughly enjoyable! Lifted this from the “website-that-can’t-be-named”, in case some of you missed it! 🙂

1st September 2017 at 4:18 pm #4510Yes Chris, Frightening Pace a pretty Dynamic Midfield but a Defence that is so vulnerable, That could be the Key in what could be a relatively productive season for Us.

8th September 2017 at 8:50 am #4791So, reports are saying Vicious Vinny Jansen is of to
FenenerrnebebebbecheTurkey on loan for the season, with a possible recall n January if the Spuds fancy it… probably a good move for Vinny, really can’t see him getting much game time with Llronte now in the squad._____________________________

21st September 2017 at 4:49 pm #5414Over £50m for Costa puts Chelsea on almost break even on transfer dealings even without the Oscar money.
Part of me is sad to see Costa go because when his head was right he was almost unplayable but on the odd occasion ? when his head wasn’t right he was a pain in the Arsenal, but he helped Chelsea to win two PL titles and the League Cup with his goals and Chelsea sold him back to Atletico Madrid for a profit.

21st September 2017 at 6:18 pm #5415I find it astonishing quite how much Chelsea are able to sell their players for Nine! Whoever’s negotiating the sales of these players needs a pay rise. Costa’s a very good forward but this is a player who was clearly not wanted and is nearing 30. A lot of clubs could learn from Chelsea’s transfer dealings imo

21st September 2017 at 6:42 pm #5418Personally I am pleased to see Costa the caveman leave the PL. Scored goals yes so I can see why Chelsea fans liked him. But I thought he was just a dirty niggling fouling whinging type player. But ed you are right £50m for a player that is so desparate to leave he has gone on strike. Blindingly good dealings by Chelsea.

21st September 2017 at 7:06 pm #5420Ed, difficult to knock the negotiating expertise on sales out but both Marina and Emenalo have taken a lot of stick on sales in particularly this Summer.
But over £50m from a player who will be 29 in as couple of weeks time who only wanted to go to Atletico and was more than a tad problematical is a very good deal imo.
He had to go given all of the problems that have surrounded him and Conte wasn’t going to take his nonsense any more after his shenanigans in January.
I understand why opposition fans didn’t like him even I didn’t like Costa at times but when his head was right there were few who could match him in leading the line and he was player who played a major part in Chelsea’s last two PL title wins.
If both Chelsea and Atletico make it out of the Group stages and into the last 8 of the CL what’s the betting that they get drawn against each other and Costa scores the winning goal that knocks Chelsea out.?

21st September 2017 at 8:35 pm #5422The best deal of the summer alongside Arsenal getting £10m for Gabriel from Valencia.A great player departs the EPL,but he did not want to be playing here for some time.Wanted to go back to Spain for some time now,as do it seems all Latin players, especially those from South America.

21st September 2017 at 9:44 pm #5425Selling Alex Ox Chamberlain for 35-40m has to be the best bit of business. At least Costa was/is a match winner!

22nd September 2017 at 7:34 am #5433I guess scoring 59 goals in 129 games despite all of the problems that surrounded him kept Costa’s value up in a transfer market that is bonkers anyway.
Costa never settled in England and always hankered for a return to Spain almost from the second day of him being at Chelsea so to almost double your money on a player who will be 29 in a few weeks time, only had circa 18 months left on his contract and was continuously problematical is a very good deal but Costa will fit back in at Atletico seamlessly and if he can score 59 goals in 129 games for Chelsea he will score bags of goals for Atletico.
So everyone’s a winner with this transfer even the PL opposition fans who somewhat understandably hated him.?

22nd September 2017 at 7:42 am #5435I could never understand Chelsea’s desire to sign the Ox at £35/40m and Barkley at £35m when both players would be available on a free transfer next summer.
Always seemed bonkers to me even if both players were home grown. Just on that parameter alone I think Chelsea dodged two bullets there.
