4th June 2020 at 6:02 pm #113648I think he wants to play for Klopp Sean and I think that’s probably where he’ll end up the only doubt is how many games he might get with a front three of Mane, Firmino and Salah assuming they all remain at Liverpool next season which I think they will.
Although Sky Germany are reporting Chelsea are favourites to sign Werner?

4th June 2020 at 6:50 pm #113651AnonymousLiverpool just don’t seem to be very keen on Werner. They’ve been watching him for ages of course but they’ve held off and held off on making an offer.
I think we’ve got to go for him or someone like him, as the front 3 are all 28, give or take. They are fantastic but How much longer can they all stay in their prime? FSG came to the club with the idea that they would sell players when they hit their prime, in order to get their money back and then invest that in the up and comers. I’m glad they abandoned that as a core philosophy but I think you’ve got to retain some element of that.
Our front 3 is probably worth 3-400m right now but in 2 years, their sale value will be no more than 1-200m combined. I’d even say the 200m for the 3 at the age of 30 might be unachievable.
No Liverpool fan wants to see any of those lads go but we can’t fight against nature and win. I don’t like it but I think we’ve got to sell one of the front 3 this summer. Of course, Mane is being linked with Real and I hope it’s not true. He’s the best of them and we should definitely just not sell him. I don’t particularly want Firmino or Salah to leave either but if you gave me Sophie’s Choice, I’d check to see who would pay what for Salah.
He’s no longer flavour of the month and drifted in and out of form this season but his contribution to our wins is without doubt. He scored a lot of goals and got a lot of assists, as he always does. Salah will start to lose his speed but he’s a clever player, who knows where to be at the right time. I’m assuming that other teams out there are more than aware of his qualities, so we might get a good enough fee.
Twist my arm and then next summer, I’d maybe look to replace Firmino but.. he’s so clever that maybe he could play to a high standard until he’s 33-34. I think Mane and Firmino will definitely age better than Salah, so it’s these 2 that I’d be ok to see us just have them play out their prime with us.
I’ve just remembered that this was a Newcastle thread, apologies lads.
I haven’t been following it as well as I should have perhaps, I’ve honestly just forgotten about football, more and more. Now that we know it’s coming back, ya I guess it pops into my mind a bit more once again. The Newcastle takeover is an interesting one though and what I’d love to see most but almost certainly won’t see, is to have Rafa back here and to be given a lot of money to spend. Most Newcastle fans would probably agree with me, I’d imagine. He kept them in the PL during some rough times and it’s kinda only fair that he should benefit with them…
Of course, if Rafa came in and then signed Werner that’d be amazing. I trust Liverpool’s tactics in the market these days but I hope they go for him.

4th June 2020 at 8:12 pm #113657Assuming the takeover for Newcastle goes ahead it’s very important for Newcastle to attract the right Manager and whatever transfer budget is actually available there’s still the hurdle of talking top players into joining a project in the North East of England who aren’t yet in Europe.
They’ll get there in the end though if everything comes together but it will take time imo. The Geordie lads deserve a bit if success.

4th June 2020 at 8:50 pm #113661Nine, itโs good to be talking football again
Iโd love to see Bruce get a fair crack of the whip with a few quid.
I think heโs fine a very good job considering the injuries etc.
I do think he will be gone if new owners come in but I hope not
I like him. As honest as they come

4th June 2020 at 8:53 pm #113662I hope the deal goes through for Newcastle and they become a top team again. I think the new owners will have followed the City project and develop the club in a similar manner. It would be reasonable to assume they will bring a new manager and players in to kick start there project Who they will be, nobody knows yet but I think it will not be too long before it is announced

4th June 2020 at 8:58 pm #113664AnonymousWell Sean, I won’t disagree with you. Steve Bruce is one of the most like-able managers in the game. When I said what i did regards Rafa, I kinda wasn’t considering what would maybe be a little injustice for Bruce. However, in my opinion, I think Rafa , like the Newcastle fans, deserves to be able to set things right.
I’m sure Bruce would get another PL job, especially after him keeping the ship steady here under difficult circumstances.

5th June 2020 at 7:24 pm #113712This crisis is going to affect a lot of clubs.
It will be interesting to see who the big spenders are. I canโt see Liverpool spending big at all. Clubs have lost millions. Just look at spurs
City need to replace silva unless pep is finally going to trust foden and give him regular starts.
Utd still need a good few players and Chelsea have spent nearly 90m already
Chelsea to spend big and utd

5th June 2020 at 7:41 pm #113713Sean…I think Foden will get a lot of game time but Pep will look for another experienced midfielder he either knows or has tracked. We still need a CB in my opinion although Ido fancy Garcia to step up, on the small side for a CB but I can name a lot of good CBs who were small

5th June 2020 at 8:13 pm #113719Chelsea haven’t spent in the last two windows and are spending the Hazard and Morata money currently.
Even with the spend on Ziyech and Werner providing it goes ahead there’s still circa ยฃ50m in the pot from that and I’m sure Chelsea will bring some additional money in with further sales out as Frank continues to remodel the squad.

5th June 2020 at 9:32 pm #113723Ye with the ban Chelsea have had that few quid reSting there so itโs coming in very handy for them now and they still have money left.
Liverpool made one signing Last season for 7m and we certainly Wonโt be signing anyone for big money.

6th June 2020 at 9:49 am #113728AnonymousSpurs are the best run club in the world. If they are expecting losses up to 200m then other teams will lose much more. 40% of spurs turnover goes on wages which is the lowest in the league. I think Liverpool and arsenal are 60% and others including Everton and Leicester are in the high 70โs. I only see United being able to spend big.

6th June 2020 at 9:55 am #113729So the local semi pro team that has enough money in the bank to run for the next 5 seasons isnโt as well run as a team that now needs to borrow ยฃ200m?…..Pagan

6th June 2020 at 10:01 am #113730Not doubting that Paxton, thatโs why Iโm saying Liverpool will not spend big. Just like we didnโt spend last summer either.
Clubs are going to be hard hit.
Chelsea can spend as they have money in reserve from their ban
Utd will always spend.

6th June 2020 at 10:30 am #113731The thing with Spuds, it wasn’t just the footy, depending on what reports you read, we’re expecting to miss out on anywhere between 60 and 120 million over the next 12 months from none footy related events at the new shiny spaceship, the NFL, rugby, boxing, and multiple concerts that were going to be held there… it’s not just the PL game turnovers we’ll be missing…
Plus, 0,5% interest rate? I’m not going to debate the ethics of it, from a purely business standpoint, you’d be a mug not to take up that offer, regardless of what business you’re in.

30th June 2020 at 3:45 am #125880Another bookkeeping “fiddle” has now been exposed… over to you UEFA… but basically it would appear “swapping” players allow you to post a “profit” which then is allowed in “turnover”…
