Mav, hey steady on buddie we’re friends remember.?
See my post above:
“Clubs not in the PL and not in Europe can have bigger losses because the PL FFP rules are not as stringent but they are still restraining circa £100m of losses over 3 seasons which limits transfer expenditure too.”
FFP exists in the PL too Mav it’s just a little less severe but it wouldn’t let Newcastle get anywhere near being able to spend the kind of monies you are suggesting.
Rightly or wrongly we won’t see another Chelsea or Manchester City in the PL whilst both the UEFA and PL FFP rules remain in place and there’s no sign they’re going away anytime soon.
But let’s wait and see what Newcastle spend in the Summer window if the takeover goes through. Cheers 9’s

2nd June 2020 at 2:59 pm #1135909s-But they will be allowed to spend big bucks,@ least until they are qualified for Europe, and then they will be coming under scrutiny.Maybe not like PSG,but spend big bucks they will, rest assured of it.

2nd June 2020 at 3:12 pm #113591Mav, I’m not sure you’re reading my posts but no Club in the PL can lose more than an average of circa £100m in the PL over 3 seasons. Newcastle lost £20m over the last two Seasons of their accounts.
“But they will be allowed to spend big bucks,@ least until they are qualified for Europe, and then they will be coming under scrutiny.”
They won’t Mav Newcastle will still be under the scrutiny of the PL FFP rules albeit the losses allowed under under PL rules are a little more generous but PL FFP rules wouldn’t allow Newcastle to spend the kind of money you suggest.
Like it or not those are the rules mate let’s leave it there and assuming the takeover goes ahead see what Newcastle’s net transfer spend is in the Summer. Cheers 9’s

2nd June 2020 at 4:25 pm #1135999, Derby County are owned by Mel Morris and the Stadium was owned by Derby County, Derby County then sold their ground to a private individual, Mel Morris. That isn’t a problem as the stadium has been sold by the club and they have received payment for it. The problem is it was valued £20 to £30 million less than Morris paid for it…..Pagan

2nd June 2020 at 8:29 pm #113600Pagan, Derby are still under investigation for breaking the EFL’s FFP rules according to the Derbyshire Telgraph. I can’t see it being a strategy that other Clubs will be looking to follow.

3rd June 2020 at 8:16 am #1136039, I know Derby are still under investigation, it’s not for selling their stadium, it’s for selling it at on over inflated price in order to meet their financial targets. Even with the vastly inflated sum they got for it, they only just scraped by, still if if you have a business that spends £1.33 for every £1.00 it turns over you’re always going to have problems. Quite funny we’re talking about Derby’s ground, I can see it from the office window…..Pagan

3rd June 2020 at 12:39 pm #113611Pagan, I think Derby are facing a broader investigation under FFP by the EFL. It’s sad to see Derby where they are now and it would be good to see them back in the PL without their current problems.
Putting aside whatever issues Derby County might have to face with FFP personally I’m very sceptical and concerned about a Club being stripped of the ownership of their Ground having lived through what we did as Chelsea supporters when Stamford Bridge ended up being bought by Marler Estates primarily from Brian Mears.
Chelsea FC went very close to being homeless because of the abive.
Splitting the ownership of a ground from its Club is a bad and dangerous strategy imo and should be avoided at all costs whether it does or doesn’t break FFP rules.

3rd June 2020 at 12:43 pm #113612Anonymousmav – you keep saying that newcastle have made official bids for all these players. care to show your evidence of these official bids? I’m assuming you have a copy of the offers that Newcastle have sent or are we assuming every rumour we read is now official.

3rd June 2020 at 1:39 pm #1136149, totally agree selling your only real asset is not the way to go.
Derby are in a mess, to sell your ground for £80m and still only post a profit for the year of £15m and with that profit only just making the rolling FFP limits shows exactly where they are, gambling on promotion and not getting it last year, and looking unlikely this season could have devastating consequences for them…..Pagan

3rd June 2020 at 4:31 pm #113620Chelsea are signing over half a billion £’s worth of players this Summer according to the media and Agents.lol.?
There’s not even any dates set yet for the transfer window to open and close everything is just pure speculation at the moment most of it driven by the internet and the media.
Of course Clubs are making enquiries about availability of players via Agents and Clubs and sounding out likely potential fees but this will be a very different Summer transfer window as even the biggest of Clubs are under financial pressure and there are concerns and a reluctance to paying too much for a player whose value may well have considerably dropped due to Cov19.

3rd June 2020 at 4:33 pm #113621Mav, re PEA he is 31 and in the final year of his contract if Arsenal can’t get him to sign a new contract they will either have to sell him for a reduced fee this Summer or chance losing him for nothing next Summer.

3rd June 2020 at 6:39 pm #113622AnonymousMav – so to confirm you are reading any rumour and then classing it as an official bid. I very much doubt Newcastle have even made enquiries, let alone official bids given their takeover isn’t even complete yet. You really do spout absolute nonsense constantly.
