Thinking he could keep Sir Harry company when he has his annual 3-month injury… 🙂

7th August 2020 at 1:44 pm #144161Chelsea are linked with more players than you could shake a stick at.?
The rumoured outs are quite broad too.
Apart from Chelsea trying to complete the Havertz signing which understandably fee agreement aside won’t happen whilst Leverkusen are still in the Europa League.
I’m sure things will become clearer after Chelsea exit the CL tomorrow night and in the coming days and weeks with who Chelsea are looking to move on.

7th August 2020 at 10:06 pm #144507Maverick. I wonder why the Germans want a salary cap with there strict rules.. We have no rules here but I think there should be one. Then the question will be….should it be the sae Cap for every country??? Maybe it is just a case of everyone following German rules like the EEC!!!!!

7th August 2020 at 10:12 pm #144514Steveo that doesn’t sound good for arsenal. I actually like Arteta and went against the common opinion when you appointed him and tipped him for success. But for that to happen a manager needs two things, time and support. Without either he will fail and you’ll be back to square one again.

7th August 2020 at 10:34 pm #144531Willian has always split opinion amongst Chelsea fans personally =I would have liked to see him stay for one more season but recognise he may have struggled for starts next season at Chelsea and whilst I can understand him wanting three years there must be question marks against what level Willian will be at in years two and three.
I think he will be a good signing for Arsenal certainly next season.

11th August 2020 at 9:10 am #147673According to the German magazine Kicker, Sancho has already signed a new 3 year contract. Translated by Google the report states:
“A bang at the start of the BVB training camp in Switzerland. Borussia Dortmund secretly, quietly and quietly extended Jadon Sancho’s contract to 2023 a year ago. In recognition of his top performance, his salary was increased accordingly. Sports director Michael Zorc assured that the Englishman would “definitely” play for BVB next season.
At 12.47 p.m. on Monday, Jadon Sancho got off the team bus in front of the Grand Resort Hotel Quellenhof, the base cap turned back, the protective mask pulled over his mouth and chin, which was not in accordance with the regulations. The fact that the Englishman was one of the 31 traveling soccer players from the BVB delegation had already ended speculation about a transfer to Manchester United three hours earlier at Dortmund airport. The third of the past Premier League season was unable to pay the required 120 million euros. Or want to.
For Sancho this means: the personal change period has passed, another year in the Bundesliga, another season in BVB.
Borussia and the player’s agency rule out that Sancho could now exert pressure from his side in order to force a change at a later date. “Jadon will play for us next season,” assured Michael Zorc. “This decision is definitive.” There is an “absolute agreement” between him and managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke on this issue.
The BVB sports director also made it clear on Monday before the first training session in the Ri-Au stadium that Sancho would not be “mildly tempered” with a salary increase, as the boulevard had spread. Sancho’s contract (until 2022) was adjusted a year ago and extended ahead of time until 2023. This was intended to appropriately honor his excellent performance and expressly acknowledge his outstanding position within the team. That was not publicly communicated at the time.
The secret contract extension explains the unexcited appearance of the Dortmund bosses in the week-long summer theater: They can still generate a big transfer for Sancho next year. The assumption that in 2021 with a remaining term of his contract of allegedly only one year he could be much cheaper is wrong, as we now know.”
Probably what we were all expecting although take with a pinch of salt as I’ve not seen it reported anywhere else.

11th August 2020 at 9:17 am #147679Yeah it’s not a new contract. Just reiterating what was signed and reported last year. Although it was only reported at the time as a wage increase, rather than an extension
Jadon Sancho has NOT signed a new contract with BVB. “We have already extended his contract one year ago until June 2023”, Zorc says. ?⚫️ #BVB #MUFC #transfers

11th August 2020 at 9:22 am #147684I wrote the above earlier in the window. Interestingly, we’ve now been heavily linked with both Costa and Coman. Only Demeble to go now ?
As for Sancho, could go either way. Really does show though that even Utd aren’t immune from the effects of the pandemic with Utd being unwilling to match the fee Dortmund want.

Ye Ed, I totally agree about utd holding their stance. I still think they will get Sancho

11th August 2020 at 9:47 am #147706Ed you missed Leon Bailey from your list!
I think what the report is now saying is the BvB are in a strong position with Sancho as they are not under any pressure to sell due to his contract expiring soon. Why it wasn’t declared last year I do not know.
For any team with a player much in demand like Sancho and Havertz it makes sense if they can (and makes sense regarding contracts) to delay any sale till next year when hopefully things will be back to normal and more teams will have the funding. They want a bidding war.

11th August 2020 at 9:55 am #147715Yeah agree completely. Not sure either of those clubs can turn down the kind of sums being spoken about though considering their own drop in revenues. Nobody knows if fans will be back even this time next year so could be a risky strategy for them to turn a huge bid down but fair play to both for sticking to their guns
