28th September 2020 at 5:49 pm #167801AnonymousSo, is this Ruben Dias any good? I don’t even know who he is TBH but the fee paid means he must be quality. Anyone got the skinny on this guy? Will he be the man to sort out City’s defence?
also why the F did they sign Ake now? Are they going to play 3 at the back or what?

28th September 2020 at 7:37 pm #167805We can have all the defenders in the world…..we still got to put the ball in the net ourselves

29th September 2020 at 10:19 am #167840Mak..a solid CB, I just hope he is what is claimed, should be, plays for a good team Regular in Portugal team which is not bad. The fee..is less, we get approx 12 million for Otemendi in P/e and that is part of deal

29th September 2020 at 10:26 am #167842Mak…3 at back would be OK but I also see Ake as a LB because we do not have one at the moment. cancel is nearest but he cannot tackle and is really a winger. Zinencho, poor defensively. Mendy..I will not comment on because I may get barred!!!

29th September 2020 at 5:19 pm #167856Pep is puzzling ….we had a cracking player in sane in my opinion….he didn’t play him much …..Cancelo…..he doesn’t play him much …new boy Torres hasn’t started in the first two games…..

29th September 2020 at 8:16 pm #167860Cityboy…Sane wanted to return to Germany, City tried to keep him but he wanted to go back. Nothing we could do about that. Much the same with Garcia.
Torres..we are only two games in, plenty of time for him
Cancello..developing injury process needs longer run but not at LB, essentially he is a winger not a defenderPep has a penchant for midfielders, does not bother too much about defendersand that is where we are, however, he has won a lot in a short space of time with players who carried out his plan, I think we need a shake up. I do not think Pep has sole decision on players in/out either but informs Tixi who he would like/not

29th September 2020 at 8:25 pm #167861What City need is a Dzeko, Vardy….a presence in the box, Delap may well be the one but not yet, he needs time to develop like Foden. In my eyes Foden is not a Silva type player and the need for a player who can play in tight spaces. We do have Gungdoghan and Bernado who can do this. Bernado would be an automatic choice for me because of his work ethic He helps KDB more with his intelligence. Sterling just waits to be fed, Mahrez the same. Jesus works his socks off but will never reach Augerro’s level, so we need to be better up front as well.

29th September 2020 at 9:29 pm #167865AnonymousBrian, that’s absolutely crazy when you think about how much money City have spent on fullbacks! Has any team in the world spent more on those positions in the last decade?

29th September 2020 at 9:31 pm #167866AnonymousCityboy has a point there though that must be frustrating to watch, he chops and changes way too much in my opinion. Strength in depth is obviously a brilliant thing to have but some measure of consistency is needed to get your first 11 up to that highest gear, surely? I say this but he got 101 points a few years ago and as far as I know, he chopped and changed a bit then too. Has he maybe increased this too much, or was it roughly the same then?

29th September 2020 at 9:33 pm #167867AnonymousBut as Brian says, yer only 2 games in and one of them was a pretty shocking result. We had our scare, letting in 3 against Leeds and it shook us up enough to push on from that. Maybe that result will do the same for your lads.

29th September 2020 at 10:07 pm #167868Mak…I know its crazy but sometimes the players you get do not do the job required. Everyone takes a risk on a player they sign, City have made some poor choices and they may well do well at other clubs. It was never fashionable to spend on CBs either but now crazy money is paid, I think we are lacking some direction on the pitch at the moment and this stems from an uncertain defence I think Pepwill sort this but he has given the non performing players to show him they can do it but it has not happened yet. I can always accept a defeat graciously what I do not like is schoolboy mistakes repeatedly plus the fact that Pep knew all about Leicester and Vardy and how teams sit deep against us. Should have done better with HT team talk, something was missing this time. Twogames, time to put it right but it will need new faces

29th September 2020 at 10:18 pm #167869To answer your other point Mak re chopping and changing, I do not like it either, however we are now in an era, for top teams, where they have to play a lot of matches and you need to keep up you need a strong squad and chop and change is inevitable. Footballers are not going to be able to carry on at a high level of consistency if they are not rested, dropped, benched whatever. Your team have done exceptionally well to avoid major injuries but I am sure Mr Klopp knows there will come a time when he has to do the same, to day you have player cover and good ones, next week?????
City had a remarkable run also, we just need to get our focus back. It is lacking at the momentPS. I told you Jotta would fit very well with Liverpool, you have a good player there

30th September 2020 at 5:10 am #167871AnonymousYa Brian, we’re kinda lucky in that the group of players we have (in attack anyway) are not at all injury prone. We get as many injuries in the other positions though mostly. It’s always been that we were so limited in cover for the forward lads but that’s changed now. Part of how we dealt with this was to just not try in the domestic cups. That’s how Klopp rests when he can’t rotate. We’ve brought in Jota and already our assistant has spoken about us competing across other competitions.
but it’s not a case where Liverpool are somehow invulnerable from injuries. We just got Gomez back for this last game, Matip is still out, Thiago and Henderson are out. Alisson barely made it for this game. We can deal with injuries in these areas. I have long sweated losing Mane or Salah. Jota lightens that feeling but who wouldn’t miss Mane? The guy was brilliant against Arsenal.
