Good on the Ed in retrieving the links I guess you pays your money you takes your choice but the links above suggest that both Sky Sports see below and the BBC Football see my earlier post plus numerous other media outlets have got the Werner salary wrong
“According to a report by the Skysports, Werner will reportedly earn around €10m (£9m) per season in England. This means his weekly wages to be around £173,000.
A total upgrade to his earnings at RB Leipzig which was £94,377 a week. The German International has signed a 5-year-long deal with the West London club.”
Fact is none of us know what Werner is earning me included and it’s pure speculation but my gut feel is that it’s very unlikely Chelsea would have offered Werner an increase of over £170k pw on his alleged salary at Leipzig plus a £10m signing on fee.
Just my opinion of course which seemingly when discussions about a Chelsea player take place on the site as a Chelsea fan I’m not allowed to give.
It’s all totally irrelevant now of course because no matter what Werner is earning he’s a Chelsea player now for the next 5 years and a very good signing he looks too.

To be fair, most fans on here, myself included get somewhat defensive when they see their club being attacked, though I take your point, threeps, that it was not meant as an attack!
I have to say, I wish we’d got Werner…and Pulisic, come to think of it. I think the likelihood is that one of Sadio or Mo will leave next summer, and that added to Bobby’s marginal decline over the last 12 months or so, is a little worrying. For me it was a no brainer to go for him, but for reasons we can only speculate about, the board and / or Klopp decided not to. Maybe we’re saving our pennies for an outrageous bid for Mbappe or Sancho next summer!

The only reason I want anyone is because of the ages of players. If they were all 23 then I’d only ever be interested in offering backup/competition, as who wouldn’t be happy with that front 3? That’s it really, we’re kinda spoiled in that regard. I mean, Firmino definitely could score more goals, even with what he does for us but besides that, it’s the best forward line we’ve ever had (well, in my time).
Good points alround though Mav. I will say one thing , Werner isn’t considered world class, YET. That may be different in just a few months. That unknown quantity could sink or win a title.
Im kinda hungover so my brain isnt yet out of bed but where have we gotten this money from? Were Liverpool pretending to be broke to get these 2 deals over the line at a similar time? I believed it!
