10th September 2020 at 4:17 pm #165961Sean…I am not writing them off but saying the competition will be more than two, more like 5/6 in my opinion.. I do not place a lot of stock in the number of signings unless the club is under strength for whatever reason and they pay for there transfers, why not? The discussion will end up all about money again and who spent what on who….it is a bore…why, because it will be used as an excuse and not a risk in investment…that is more a fearful thing than football itself. Thos that can..will. those that cannot. will make do with what is within there means. That is not to say, they will not be a good team and will win titles and competitions, long be it so

10th September 2020 at 4:33 pm #165963New season…clean slate….Coronavirus…no spectators..players have to go through a tight programme, which may mean injuries pile up..anything can happen and nothing would surprise me
If things do not change for the better some clubs may go broke by Christmas. Plenty of money still in football just not going in right places_____________________________

10th September 2020 at 6:33 pm #165965AnonymousAll good points and it’s true, we’ve got to consider the tighter fixture list when looking at a squad as thin as Liverpool’s.

11th September 2020 at 2:34 pm #165988Waspy-Liverpool doesnt need any signings to improve the 1st team, squad players yes,and there are sooooooooooo many unwanted players out there that can give a great deal of contribution to a team.Bale,Perisic,Nainggolan,Draxler,Ngueye-just to mention a few, players out of contract, players that certain teams are desperate to sell, etc.

11th September 2020 at 2:44 pm #165989Problem with Bale Mav is Real Madrid want a fee and Bale is earning £600k pw.
If you can overcome the above as the Ed suggested a couple of days ago Bale would make a great short term signing for United perhaps a season long loan with an option to buy.
He must want to play regularly by now.
Make you right on Liverpool first 11 is still good enough for another title tilt can’t see Thiago will want to play regularly and Wijnaldum moving on would help make that happen?

11th September 2020 at 3:27 pm #165992I think the lack of crowds will have a major impact. Who will be affected most?

11th September 2020 at 4:10 pm #16599527-On top of everything you said,Bale has been plagued by injuries and therefore unable to play on regular basis.Would make on excellent short-term signing for a team like Liverpool, and much more chance of winning trophies than at United.
Thiago would be a fantastic addition to that Liverpool midfield._____________________________

12th September 2020 at 1:05 pm #166018Mav, salary aside I don’t think Bale would work hard enough in a Klopp team.

12th September 2020 at 1:06 pm #166019Adlab, I think no crowds effects everyone but a full Anfield is like a 12th Man for Liverpool.

16th September 2020 at 6:13 am #166204Potentially Bale and Reguilon should cheer you up though Shiney!
Spurs seemingly happy to accept the buyback clause which Utd wouldn’t entertain. I do understand Utd’s position here. Becomes a bit of a farce when you want the player to do well but not well enough that you’re forced into selling him back. I don’t mind the whole buyback thing in principle but I don’t want my own club to be accepting such clauses.
Bale could have suited Utd on a short term deal but I’m not sure we were ever in for him. I would have definitely taken him on loan. A buy always ran the risk of becoming a repeat of the Sanchez debacle.

16th September 2020 at 9:14 am #166208Ed, if Levy can get Bale for a couple of years plus Reguilon I’d be a happy boy, and if he can get a creative MF plus another CB it will be a very good window.

16th September 2020 at 2:16 pm #166211Shiney, the first two would be an achievement. The next two probably a bit more difficult.😊
