Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund remain far apart in their valuation of England forward Jadon Sancho.

It had been reported United had agreed personal terms with Sancho, but BBC Sport understands that is not the case.

The Red Devils have made Sancho their number one transfer target this summer.

Dortmund want about £100m for the 20-year-old and say they want a deal to be done by 10 August so they can get on with their pre-season campaign with no distractions.

United feel that sum – which would be a record for a British player – is unrealistic and does not take into account the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has cost top-flight clubs in Europe an estimated £3.5bn during the 2019-20 season.

Dortmund set deal deadline for Man Utd target
United remain keen on Sancho but are wary of repeating the mistake they made in giving Alexis Sanchez a contract worth £400,000 a week. The club are attempting to agree a deal that would allow the Chilean, who has two years left on his deal, to join Inter Milan.

Forwards Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood and goalkeeper David de Gea have all signed new deals in the past 13 months, and United would not want to put themselves into a position where they have to revisit them.

While this could be viewed as the start of hard negotiations on both sides, United do have the option of looking at alternatives.

And, although this seems unlikely, BBC Sport has been told they will do that unless Dortmund step back significantly from their current position.

Strong rumours of Jamal Lewis of Norwich to Liverpool for 10m, possibly with Lacouri going the other way. Interest being reported by Melissa Reddy who normally has a foot in the door for all things Liverpool related. Would make sense, only 22, potential to develop and home grown, and most importantly we need LB cover.

Nine there’s a rumour going around, probably fuelled by the a photo of the two that she tweeted, but I don’t think there’s ever been any real evidence. Mane is very secretive apparently.

Reports on this potential transfer all indicate towards one problem, will he be happy as back up? You’d think going to the Champions and working under Klopp nearly every player would jump at the chance but I hear more often that it’s playing time or a clear route to the first team for youngsters, that most players are interested in.

Robertson is only 26 himself and obviously be very difficult to displace so the player could see this as a poor career move if offered first team football elsewhere.

Steveo… the best part, if all is true…City will pick up 15Miliion on the Sancho deal so plus the original 8 million we got for him. not bad business. Sancho is good though so we will see how it all goes, a lot of money, I doubt I would pay that for Messi or Mpabbe…not because of there lack of skill but the high risks that goes with them. but then again…I do not own a football club

Always the problem threeps when you’ve got such a strong team Robertson is now probably close to being the best left back in Europe difficult to talk players into coming in when they have got to understudy such a great player.

Klopp will be a draw but players want to play.

Looks like the Spuds have sorted out the deal for the Saint’s lad, and with young W-P going the other way, I think we’ve got a good deal there. A midfield of Lo Cecil, Headgehog and N-Dumb (if we can turn him into a 90 minute player) with Disco and Dinksy as back-up isn’t too shabby. Sir Harry, Sonny and Bale up top… should mean we’ll score plenty… 🙂

Chuky…everyone is looking for Full backs, there is a scarecity world wide available at moment and what you buy does not always work out as we know at City, however, I’m an optimist and hope we will be OK but sad to loosing Garcia who could have filled one spot in an emergency apart from being a CB. I think Bale would be a bad move for Spurs though, too many gold courses available
