21st October 2017 at 7:15 pm #6446Looking at the table, I do genuinely reckon loses for Pool or the Good Show tomorrow would end any realistic hopes for the title (although Goldie will probably have something to say about odds or “funny old game” π )
On a side note, just saw goal of the month, and a goal of the season contender, from this Boufal lad at Southampton, that’s worth checking out…

21st October 2017 at 7:18 pm #6447Don’t think anybody has Goat, most surprised! Quite possibly the most open, honest, and generally realistic (compared to the game in question) interview he has ever given I’d wager!

21st October 2017 at 8:42 pm #6450And if Liverpool were to beat Spurs tomorrow then realistically Spurs would be out of the title race too.
But whatever the results tomorrow I really can’t see anyone catching City they have the best Manager, the best team, the best squad, the most points, the best goal difference at + 28 which is probably worth another point v all certainly from Spurs down and City will probably sign Sanchez in the January window too and the latest title odds when they are released will only reflect all of that together with where people are putting their money.
Huddersfield beating United demonstrates that nothing in football is certain which is what makes it such “a funny old game Saint”. ?

21st October 2017 at 9:25 pm #6458What will Maureen do next week now? He canβt play spuds to draw now and risk slipping 7 or 8 points behind (if city win) then the week after another killer with Chelsea, itβs going to be interesting seeing what he does

21st October 2017 at 9:36 pm #6461Still find the United result hard to believe, genuinely. On the point of this thread of buses, anybody see Jose’s pre-match interview? He was quite kryptic when alluding to Huddersfield’s approach hahaha π π

21st October 2017 at 9:39 pm #6462Nine, As far as I am concerned this is far from a done deal. We are not a quarter of the way thru the season so it’s frankly ridiculous to say everyne is playing for 2nd. Teams have been lost the title in the last six weeks or so. Jim

21st October 2017 at 9:40 pm #6463Goatistuta, I think your fixture against Jose and the devils isn’t too far away. A good opportunity to place some breathing space. I do think though if Tottenham beat us and notch up 2 or 3 wins, there’s a chance of them challenging City.
I was chatting about this in the pub last week on the subject of Lakaku and the point made was that in some games, he’s simply not there to fire the bullets.

21st October 2017 at 9:49 pm #6464Jim, I understand where you’re coming from mate and I would be saying the same but hand on heart across so many parameters City are ahead of everyone else by a country mile.
Of course it’s not a done deal after 9 games but imho the only team that can beat City are City themselves and I don’t think that will happen.

22nd October 2017 at 8:00 am #6468Goldie… my “criteria” for being out the race is more than 9 point, with 6 being for the doubleheaders against City, and 3 for a slip up from City… so yes, Pool and Goonies are out, and your mob are right on the bubble! But considering you’ve only got one more game agasint City this season, I would say your out of it too. Just being polite really. It’s a three horse race right now…

22nd October 2017 at 8:03 am #6469Watching the Chelski game here, how many sitters did Watford miss at the start of the second half? They should have been out of sight!! Only 10 minutes in and Watford should have been 4 up!!

22nd October 2017 at 10:23 am #6470Well, for me, it is far too early to talk about titles, we have not even got to Christmas yet and the heaviest period for all teams. City are ahead now and I believe they will get better but that does not win the title, there are other teams out there capable. Of course, I would like them to win the title, we have a much younger team now but all these competitions and internationals will take there toll somewhere along the line, I just hope, if it happens to us again it will not be for players who do the same position. Pep would not agree with that, it would never surprise me now to see Ederson playing full back for real!!!!!!(he would make a good CB or CF !!!!!)

22nd October 2017 at 10:30 am #6471Double B… nobody is doubting City will have a bad spell, I reckon everybody is predicting more and longer bad spells for everybody else. I reckon, come the New Year and after that crazy 6 weeks when everybody has to paly about 10/12 games, City will be about 9 points clear of everybody.

22nd October 2017 at 11:25 am #6472banjo,all about opinions mate and it would be boring if we all saw things the same way.
The title will only end up in Manchester this season imo and almost certainly in the blue half of Manchester, City are a country mile ahead of everybody else currently and if Pep goes past his current contract and City continue to invest at the levels they have this summer given what they already have I think they might well dominate the PL title over the next 5 years like United did under Fergie.
Revised title odds tomorrow.?

22nd October 2017 at 11:30 am #6475Absolutely right, Goldie, all about opinions (just so happens mine are right! π ). Can you imagine how good they will be next year once they’ve bought Sanchez and Messi? (and Rose, Kane, Aldwreoeirieid, Ronaldo, Pele, Greaves, Jennings…)

22nd October 2017 at 3:22 pm #6488Arsenal would be stupid to sell Sanchez or Ozil in January!.Cannot see it happening, unless to a team abroad!

22nd October 2017 at 3:52 pm #6497If Arsenal sell Sanchez in january then they might as well close shop, move to MalmΓΆ and become a knitting team instead. That would be the ultimate surrender and them admitting they’re absolutely no longer a team to take seriously as a challenging club. I doubt they’ll do it. But it’s Wenger, so who knows..?
And gutted that United lost to Huddersfield. Their entire squad cost like half of one Pogba and they hardly had any possession. But these things happen. Basically no such thing as an undeserved defeat.

22nd October 2017 at 4:27 pm #6504Arsenal should never have got themselves in the position they have with two key players in the last year of their contract.
I don’t think Arsenal will let both Sanchez and Ozil go in January but they were prepared to sell Sanchez in the summer for Β£60m and they either sell one or both in January or lose 10’s of millions of Β£’s.
I think there’s every chance that Arsenal will sell Sanchez for circa Β£30m in January rather than lose both players to a free in the Suummer but time will tell.
