Strange that he never stayed until the final though Ed???
Heโs beaten pep already this season?

Yes Sean the timing of this is the strangest thing of all.
I know you dislike Jose but he was bought in to win trophies and he’s got Spurs to their first domestic Final since 2008 and I wouldn’t have ruled out a defensive plan that shut out City and Mourinho winning Spurs first trophy since 2008.

19th April 2021 at 3:21 pm #177780Brendan Rodgers or Julian Nagelsmann are the front runners to replace Jose.
If they can get him I would edge towards Rodgers for his PL experience with Nagelsmann being the slightly bigger risk but neither will be cheap to acquire with compensation due to both Clubs and Spurs reportedly having paid circa ยฃ20m alone to Mourinho.

19th April 2021 at 4:11 pm #177785Rodgers be a great appointment nine .
Nagelsmann for me has done nothing yet.
I donโt mind jose these days, itโs his negative style that bugs me and the way he blames everyone else
I think his tactics are out dated. The 6 at the back etc. Itโs dreadful to watch

19th April 2021 at 4:18 pm #177788You know what, if I was the new manager, I’d be telling Levy to sign Boateng and Ramos on freebies, take up the option on Bale for another year, maybe Arrons from Norwich and keep pretty much the core of the rest of the squad, we know who we want to keep and who we don’t… sure the wage bill will go up a chunk for sure, but I reckon flogging the likes of Disco, Weirdy Beardy, Lamala, Lucus, Toby, and Sanchez will more than cover it…

19th April 2021 at 4:23 pm #177789Donโt think Rodgers would see it as a step up tbh especially working with levy
Though he does have a habit of choking at the tail end of a season so they would fit handsomely ๐

19th April 2021 at 5:24 pm #177798Wouldn’t put it past Jose to use ESL as excuse to leave on morale high ground
Likely to be coincidental though as it was only a matter of time
Looks like levy didn’t want Jose getting a trophy in cabinet before he left! Why would he thats not what spurs are about!

19th April 2021 at 8:36 pm #177807I think Rodgers would see it as a step up magnificent Stadium decent squad with Son and Harry Kane if Kane can persuaded to stay but as Stevo says Levy might be a problem in Rodgers opinion.

19th April 2021 at 9:39 pm #177810How on earth does Rafa keep getting linked with big jobs? If they didn’t like Jose’s defensive tactics, I can’t see them taking to Rafa’s either!
Howe seems like the easy appointment. I suspect he’ll try for Nagelsmann/Rodgers and potentially settle on Howe.

21st April 2021 at 4:03 pm #178024“Sarri is now just 4/1 to replace Jose Mourinho at Spurs, despite having been 20/1 at the start of the week.
Sarri is out of work at the moment but has been in charge of top clubs such as Juventus and Napoli in Serie A, whilst winning the Europa League during his single season at Chelsea.”
Could work?

26th April 2021 at 5:24 pm #178250Looks like Julie Bagel-bun is of to the sausage munchers to prove how brilliant he is by winning a 1 horse race for the next 3/4 years… my money is he’ll be there until Pep leaves City (I’ll say it now!).
So, that leaves us Spuds either chasing Buck Rodgers or who knows who else… the cupboard is a bit bare at the moment.

27th April 2021 at 6:47 am #178257Thoughts on Ten Hag? His odds have shortened significantly recently. I was kind of hoping him and Van Der Sar would be the ones to eventually replace Woodward and Ole at Utd. I like a lot of what Ten Hag has done but it’s a bit of a gamble jumping from the Eredivisie to the PL. Could definitely be worth a shot.

27th April 2021 at 11:07 am #178262Ten Hag obviously coaches very nice football, but my worry would be that most of his bandwidth is taken up with that and thereโs maybe not much room left for tactics and game management but Iโm not a big watcher of the Eredivisie so those would just be my initial thoughts. So Iโd suspect youโd be getting the Dutch Rodgers but without the league experience.
Allegri the best overall manager currently available, though he is a bit more defensive. Some time ago I would have suggested Espรญrito Santo, but I think heโs stayed at Wolves for too long and gone a bit stale so I question his ambition.
