Nil, If anyone wants to to track back through the posts what happened in 2014 is there.
However I thought you’re post @11:43pm was spot on, all best left there now nothing has happened yet and hopefully it won’t and all we’ll all be doing is talking about the football, two great games and two great occasions which I’m sure is what everyone wants on here no matter who they support. Cheers 999

23rd March 2018 at 10:45 pm #18632Nothing happened in 2014 Nil, you’re right.
I agree Sean, nothing wrong with it – Big players want to play in big atmospheres. Small players don’t

23rd March 2018 at 10:51 pm #18635Seems to me a little bit of jealousy in those not being either Man City or Liverpool.
Lol, there’s so much quite clearly irony and deep down underlying resentment.
What forum people, and perhaps they should look at themselves.
Well done, because quite frankly, I don’t really TRUST a great deal on here as far as it goes.

23rd March 2018 at 10:59 pm #18636WIB, Just read your reply now mate, as I’ve paid attention to a great night of Snooker.
In agreement.
I don’t think on the evidence of everything so far re this thread, I’ll bother any further other than to say maybe the Editor can look into to the what I see deliberate doom and gloom and spilling quite frankly of jealousy.

24th March 2018 at 12:31 am #18641“A coach carrying Manchester City supporters to Anfield ahead of yesterday’s Premier League crunch title encounter was attacked by a group of Liverpool fans. Those on board were reportedly left ‘shocked and shaken’ as bottles and rocks rained down on the vehicle, smashing a window as it approached the stadium. The attack on the bus, carrying the Eccles branch of City supporters club, was reported to club officials and the information has been passed on to Merseyside Police, according to the Telegraph. The incident soured what was an otherwise unbelievable afternoon on Merseyside with the Reds securing a vital 3-2 win that edges them a step closer to a first domestic title in 24 years.”
As per my previous post I was happy to leave it there but I don’t make things up the above is just one of many reports in the press at that time this one is from the Metro and references a similar report from the Daily Telegraph and is an illustration of how these calls to action can turn sour and dangerous!
As I said hopefully this won’t be the case this time round and all we’re talking about will be two great games with the best team from those two games progressing.

25th March 2018 at 2:06 pm #18702Seems to me that ex liverpool pundits are expressing a little too much confidence lol. Sure we didnt want Liverpool in the this draw, but I would much rather play them than Barca, Real or Bayern. Over two legs we should beat them and these ex players probably know that. Hopefully Kompany will be fit to marshall our defence and I can’t see Ederson making similar mistakes as he did at Anfield last time as hes been superb this season. and not forgetting we hammered them at ours. Sure Mane got sent off but it was Liverpool’s defence and keeper that let in five goals. Anyway regardless of the above it should be a great couple of games. Let’s hope there are no contentious issues. City to win 5-3 on aggregate.

25th March 2018 at 2:15 pm #18703Anonymous“all this organised stuff outside the Stadium is in danger of getting out of hand as it did in 2014.”
I’m not saying it didn’t but I don’t remember it getting out of hand. Do you have an incident in mind?

25th March 2018 at 3:30 pm #18707Mak, I think we should all move on from this now and concentrate on the more positive areas of the tie but the details of the incident I referred to are in my post @12:31am yesterday.
As per my last para let’s hope we’re only talking about the two games when all the dust settles on this tie. Cheers 999

25th March 2018 at 5:59 pm #18710This is nonsense. Is every incident that occurred in 2014 related to the fans greeting the players coaches outside the stadium?
Be like me saying Chelsea shouldn’t travel abroad due to the problems on the trains in France and in the tube. That would also be nonsense.
Nine, you occasionally like to piss on what would be a pretty jubilant but partisan bit of support – maybe you should campaign to keep the pesky fans away from the games all together – as there are lots of examples of fan problems for all clubs.
Football is as much about spirit and passion as it is about the game itself – unless you want to complete the gentrification of it.

25th March 2018 at 6:16 pm #18712Couldn’t agree more, Beni. As i said early in this thread, football is about passion, and yes, intimidation as well. As long as that passion and intimidation doesn’t cross the line, there is nothing wrong with it. Obviously none of us condone the bricking of a fan’s bus, but the passion, atmosphere and yes, intimidation is not about that. It is about letting the City players know they are entering a hostile environment, and indeed letting the Liverpool players know as they arrive at the stadium that the Liverpool fans are right behind them and will attempt to play their part in the evening.

25th March 2018 at 6:36 pm #18713Hightown, probably the perfect summary. But according to Merseyside Police without flares and Pyrotechnics which the Call to Action called for.

26th March 2018 at 8:56 am #18731Mountain out of a mole hill as usual. I didn’t hear of any trouble the previous 6 games when supporters greeted the coach
Jim, city are clear Favourites, it doesn’t matter what pundits say
Real trouble is what England fans caused in Holland. That’s real trouble.
A big deal made out of before the gane even starts. Hopefully it goes smoothly but if the daily telegraph is getting its stories from the metro then I wouldn’t believe a word of it

26th March 2018 at 9:09 am #18732Sean, the Metro story actually came from the Telegraph mate.
I highlighted the problems the England fans caused in Amsterdam and fear for what might happen in Russia.
As for the Liverpool fans planned meet and greet of the City Coach it’s been done to death now let’s just hope it goes off without any problems and the fans heed Merseyside Polices warning and all we’re all talking about is two great games of football no matter who goes through. Cheers 999
