20th March 2018 at 5:47 pm #18480What about those City boys, eh? Not only spunking dodgy Abu Dhabi money, now they’re starting with Chinese! Dodgier than a Del-boy steal I reckon, sure puts those Chavski’s nose over in West London out of joint, what with they’re own dodgy Russian rubles, buying their way to titles from the back streets of nowhere I tell you, you couldn’t make it up, two Micky Mouser teams what aren’t even scousers, shaving chest hairs and buying 75 million pounds stick of rocks… I remember the days when you could buy players for a packet of Woodbines, and maybe a 7&7…all going wrong with all this new money, ruining football…some clubs should just realize their station in life and stop getting delusions of grandeur, so they’ve spent a couple of billion quid buying into the top trough, did it buy them respect? Did it f#%€#%!!!

20th March 2018 at 6:18 pm #18481I think 90% of Liverpool fans were glad sterling went as hakf the time, he was absolutely shite for us
No doubt he’s improved under pep but I’m glad he’s gone. He was never loved at Liverpool

22nd March 2018 at 9:26 am #18527More guff from John Aldridge today ahead of the CL tie v City. Liverpool would be best served by locking a few of these ex players away ahead of the big games they certainly don’t do them any favours.

22nd March 2018 at 9:34 am #18528Why is it guff Nine?
Better still, why do some of you people take what ex-Liverpool players say with so much seriousness?
Not only that, supporters and forum users supporting Liverpool feel as though they can’t get excited about something, because there’s always opposition to drive in the negative wedge.
If the same opinion was delivered by Gary Neville, I wonder what people’s reactions would be then!
Seems, to me too, you’re quite keen on Sky Blue than Royal Blue!

22nd March 2018 at 10:08 am #18529Sorry Nil I’ve got no time for Aldridge and think he’s being highly disrespectful to both the City fans and the the City team with his comments.
“Possibly, it’s an advantage for them having the second leg at home but then again their ground doesn’t generate an atmosphere,” wrote Aldridge in the Liverpool Echo.
“We have to make the first leg count. I’ve been lucky enough to experience some very special European nights at Anfield over the years where the place is rocking and we have to add Man City to the list.
“Some of their players will shake when they feel the atmosphere we create. They won’t have heard anything quite like it”

22nd March 2018 at 10:19 am #18533Reckon your both getting your panties wet over this. So a Micky Mouser is blowing smoke up his teams trumpet? What else do you really expect? All those players from yesteryear have to make some beer and doughnut money somehow!

22nd March 2018 at 10:27 am #18535Chucky, that why I called it guff.
Nil, just to reassure you imo the best possible results in this tie for Chelsea is for Liverpool to progress because the longer Liverpool stay in the CL facing tough games the more testing it will be for them in the PL which just might open the door for Chelsea for a top 4 spot.
So still and always a Royal Blue mate.?

22nd March 2018 at 10:40 am #18540Nine, I’ll give you full marks for at least being explicit about your own agenda.
I like honesty mate.
I have no idea how another club supporter would find their way through to a local Newspaper and pay attention to ONE column of opinion.
? 🙁

22nd March 2018 at 10:53 am #18544Nil, Aldridge’s comments are all over the national press today I read them on the Daily Mail. Just Google it!
Rest assured I have neither the time or inclination to trail through what the Liverpool Echo are writing about.?

22nd March 2018 at 12:02 pm #18561What should Aldridge actusllly say? A load of empty meaningless platitudes or an exaggerated version of his feelings?
Seems fine to me

22nd March 2018 at 12:27 pm #18562I’m glad that sort of ‘statement’ isn’t coming from our Manager.
I have read the extract of Aldridge.
From a armchair perspective, I’m not convinced the atmosphere at Anfield is quite there the way it was for example a decade ago when we played Olympiakos.
Plus, those old school Premier League games from the 90s definitely shook the ground when Liverpool played Man United. I’m not sure I’m seeing that and it seems the ground’s quiet.
I’ve heard better atmosphere sitting in the Kop at Leicester. And plus clubs from the Championship and lower leagues know how to REALLY make noise.

22nd March 2018 at 12:34 pm #18564With regards to the noise, and I’m sure it’s the same at most grounds of the “larger” clubs, is simply the influx of “tourists” at most games these days. The somewhat rougher and generally noisier hard-core fans can’t afford to go as often as they used too… combined with the new “stadiums” too… souless spaceships that most of them are.
Going to be interesting to “hear” how the new WHL sounds like. Did read reports sound “experts” were involved in the design and construction to help increase possibly noise levels from the crowds. No idea how that will work, guess we’ll see the proof in the pudding in about 6/7 months…

22nd March 2018 at 12:48 pm #18565Chucky,
I absolutely loathe what West Ham fans have to now go through with the London stadium. It’s a mess and I really feel sorry for them.
As far as the top end of the tree goes with English football, fans wallets are already as good as being priced out. Now they are doing this to their voices.
They are putting them in or building silly circular stadiums where the closeness with the player is lost. How on earth can you generate any form of atmosphere?
Places like Highbury and White Heart Lane mate were the lifeblood of loyal good supporters. The soul has been ripped out.

22nd March 2018 at 1:46 pm #18568I think Chucky hits the nail on the head it’s the tourists and the occasional fans that are destroying the atmosphere at the top clubs they don’t know the words to the songs and chants.
At Chelsea at about 1:30pm you will find tourists walking around wearing the club shop and I know similar happens at the other top clubs grounds.

22nd March 2018 at 1:49 pm #18569999…I have to agree with Beni and Nil. What’s the problem with Aldridge in his local newspaper column getting a little excited about the forthcoming match. He’s a fan and he’s paid to write like a fan. I had the pleasure of bumping in to him in Istanbul prior to the game in 2005, and I can tell you he was just as excited and up for the game as any of us ‘normal’ fans were. The Liverpool Echo and Radio City obviously like his passion, and I don’t see that anything he said is particularly disrespectful (or indeed insightful). Instead he’s just echoing (excuse the pun) want a lot of Liverpool fans are hoping and saying.

22nd March 2018 at 2:01 pm #18570Hightown, great player but I can’t stand the bloke mate for all sorts of reasons thankfully he’s not even a proper pundit and we’ve got some awful pundits.
As far as Aldridge goes these aren’t his worst comments and I’m sure they go down well in the Liverpool Echo and with Liverpool fans as you guys are testifying but for me to say there is no atmosphere in the Etihad is disrespectful to City fans and to say that the City players will shake at the atmosphere at Anfield is disrespectful to the City players. And of course his comments aren’t limited to his local paper they are all over the National press and the Manchester Evening News now.
Equally the campaign by Liverpool fans to intimidate the City players with fireworks flares and lining the streets on the way into Anfield to put extra pressure on the City players in their Coach as they approach the ground is wrong too imo.
These are two football games that should be decided on the pitch with the best team going on to the CL Semi Finals and not by intimidation on the streets of in the media.
