Jim, just giving an overview of where the Chinese money was invested no harm meant mate. Club’s can’t spend more on transfers than they make in profit. Everything would be a lot simpler and a lot more transparent if FFP2 is adopted limiting club’s to 100m Euros net. Cheers 999

19th March 2018 at 9:47 pm #18454Sorry to piss on your bonfire nine. But when you sell shares in a business that investment goes on your bottom line and counts as profit!

20th March 2018 at 12:37 am #18455Jim, in the financial year of the Chinese’s investment into CFG, Manchester City reported a revenue of £391m and a profit of £20m reflecting that the investment was in the Group and not the Football Club. Cheers 999

20th March 2018 at 5:41 am #18456I’d not bothered reading this thread before as it’s either Rush or Mølby etc making shite comments – but was shocked at Jim. The tribal postings are alive and well – I thought it’s normally the likes of me Jim! ?

20th March 2018 at 7:00 am #18458Nine so when the Chinese invested 270m they knew they were not buying any of the lucrative Plot mcfc. Really. Sorry I don’t buy that for one second. The money came into the group and the group own City. Its the same money my friend. Beni I just pointed out the clear scouse media pundit driven hate campaign against Sterling which has i might add been pointed out by others such as Henry Winter amongst others who perhaps had a more balanced view. Imo there are too many liverpool based pundits. Molby is yet another. Plenty of guff spewed out of his mouth at the time when Sterling left LFC. Along with Rush, Souness, Thompson, Owen, Murphy, Barnes, Carragher Lawrenson. Of course im tribal or whatever you want to call it im a football fan. Everyone on here is. You certainly are! Even nine. Why do you think he tries to bring up the fact that CFC are no different than City but then immediately tries to say they are as they are now self sufficent and so are different at nearly every opportunity, he must have come out with that last line about 10 times on here the past year. ? Cheers Jim

20th March 2018 at 7:04 am #18459AnonymousAgreed that there are too many Ex-Liverpool pundits but what’s all this defence for Sterling? The guy caused no end of shit, unsettled the players and the fans with him and his very dodgy agents antics.
The little shit deserves to be booed. I am not the type to do that but in this case , I wouldn’t be annoyed at anyone who did. In general I’m dead against that kind of behavior but sometimes these bloody players need a dose of reality.

20th March 2018 at 7:13 am #18460Maybe I was a tad strong with my piss on your bonfire comment. But clearly nine was trying to point out that City make no profit and will have to operate within the new rules and his club although no different somehow are different! A mantra he comes out with all the time. And its just me being socalled tribal ? When we all are imo. Cheers Jim

20th March 2018 at 7:18 am #18461Mak.heres one for you. I suggest that what really riles Liverpool fans and pundits was that Sterling and his agent saw City as a step up from Liverpool and more or less said so. If he said the same things when linked with Madrid or Barca I doubt somehow whether he would have received the vitiol he did and still does. Just my tribal opinion. Jim

20th March 2018 at 9:27 am #18463I try not to be tribal about things Jim but I know I am. Just unusual for you to be so out in the open, youre normally more restrained. Like a City version of sean (we are shite and everyone can beat us) sort of approach as you remember the pre-sugar daddy years (only winding you up!)
Personally I thought Sterling was a disrespectful little toe rag with how he went about his move, both him and his agent – and I do think he is massively overrated – so I was happy with the money we got for him. was just the manner of his exit – I never get tired of seeing him miss sitters or throwing little strops.
Nine may have a point, and his point isn’t any less valid just because he doesn’t relate it to Chelsea – he was only commenting about City. Personally I think much of City’s revenues are highly questionable but so be it, its football and everybodys shit stinks.

20th March 2018 at 9:28 am #18464Jim, I’ve got a lot of time for you as a poster. But I suggest you read my original post again because what you are saying in your post @7:13 am bears no resemblance to anything I’ve posted in my original post or on here ever!
You claimed that the investment from China was what funded the last two years of City’s purchases which seemed sensible to me but when I checked that back that didn’t seem to be the case I merely put up City’s statement and then following your follow up post City’s financial report that suggests that’s not the case.
You have grabbed completely the wrong end of the tree trunk and for some reason have got all Arsenal with me. Shame I didn’t think you were like that.

20th March 2018 at 9:49 am #18467Beni, long time ago and in very different circumstances mate.
I certainly wasn’t poking fun at City’s finances in any of my posts but you’re right I am a sound guy!?

20th March 2018 at 9:59 am #18470It’s always disappointing when a good player wants to leave your club, but for somebody to go on a BBC program and with thrust, engineer a move, that will always go down as being disrespectful.
Though when I see him in City colours, I don’t constantly get reminders of that, so I must have moved on, haha 🙂
In relation to the thread itself, I refer my last reply on here. It seems to some there are too many ex-Liverpool players giving an opinion in public that is rubbing some opposition supporters the wrong way.
I’m thinking karma! 😀

20th March 2018 at 11:59 am #18473Well maybe Beni. I know I’m certainly tribal but happen to think we all are to a degree. Nine included. I don’t have any issue with him he’s a very good poster. We shall have to agree to dissagree on what we discussed about City’s finances. You are right though I haven’t changed much in my opinion of football finances as a whole. Perosnally I would still prefer a completely level playing field of transfers and wages. But realise that money talks and Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas. And until that happens I am going to enjoy the ride. Ps wasnt it Rodgers that went public with Sterling’s contract negotiations first. I thought his agent then advised and handled the discussions very poorly. But if he had changed his mind and stayed like Gerrard did after he spoke to Chelsea no doubt he would have quickly been forgiven and still be worshipped on Anfield Road. Just like Yaya was at City lol. Or perhaps like me you can forgive but not forget. Yaya has been a great servant to our club but he will never be seen the same in my eyes as Silva, Aguero or Kompany simply because of his agents antics sadly. Cheers Jim. As for tribalism doesn’t it make forums like this? We can’t all be patting each other on the back saying well done I’m in total agreement. I try and say things I would say mates who support other clubs and no more, whether that’s Liverpool, United, Stoke or Newcastle I don’t have any mates who support Chelsea! Perhaps it shows ? Jim

20th March 2018 at 12:43 pm #18474Haha, brilliant Jim ??
Agree with most of that except Sterling – he was never worshipped in the first place in fact would get quite a bit of stick from the terraces over sloppy play or a lack of effort. I’m glad he’s gone, but he could have handled it better – and Rodgers can’t resist if he ever spots an unguarded microphone.
The old saying of paper never refused ink, and Rodgers never walked past a microphone.

20th March 2018 at 1:15 pm #18475Jim, just to put this one to bed I certainly wasn’t having a go at City and if it came across that way then I apologize because it wasn’t meant to, blimey some of the posts I’ve put up re City would have many calling me a closet City fan.
As I said in my original post I don’t have any problems with what anyone spends it would be hypocritical of anyone who supported Chelsea to have any such problem.
Of course City are self sufficient and I highlighted that by referencing in mynoriginal post UEFA”s approval. Chelsea to are self sufficient although if anything City are more self sufficient than Chelsea.
My comments in respect of Abramovich were in relation to what 442 had touched upon as to whether Abramovich might have a problem politically that would impact on Chelsea and for the reasons I outlined even if that were to happen I don’t think losing Abramovich now would be a massive one now although I suspect it won’t come to that.
Tbh I see City as very much a brother in arms club with Chelsea a previously succesful club that fell on difficult times but won the lottery and came back strong just like Chelsea did and whenever Chelsea can’t win the PL I would always be looking for City to win it.
My only point was that seemingly the Chinese investment didn’t go into the football club but the group and based on City’s financials wasn’t the monies used to fund City’s transfer expenditure over the last two seasons. I wish I had kept quiet now!?. Peace and love. Cheers 999
