Be good to see Oxlade Chamberlain playing again in the PL Nil. Seemingly he needs a bit more time the suggestion seems to be circa April which would be in time for the run in.

31st January 2019 at 9:30 pm #32636Nil/Nine: I don’t think we can expect too much from Ox this season, It’ll take a month to get match fit again so I hope people don’t expect him to be a game changer after so long out. Great to have him back though, hopefully give the troops a lift.

1st February 2019 at 12:52 am #32637AnonymousIf Liverpool don’t start performing soon, our results are going to nose-dive. That’s the worry. We’ve ridden our luck in a lot of games and with the injuries, the confidence is draining away. Van Dijk has told the fans that they need to calm down. Anxiety is a self-perpetuating phenomenon. In order to get rid of it, we’ve got to get back on track, fast.
What I’ve said above isn’t said out of my own anxiety. I think I’m probably more calm than most now but really, that won’t last if we don’t win the next game. I expect nothing from Arsenal and you know what, we shouldn’t anyway. Let’s assume City are winning every match before a ball is kicked. We have 3 points on our plate each day and if we polish them all off, we’ve won the league.
It’s pretty freaky that Spurs are as close as they are. I guess we can’t help but hold the door for them. I really hope we get our act together and beat West Ham. they are a team who can perform on their day. they’ve got some good players and the problem with being the top team, is everyone wants to be your downfall. Those hard to motivate groups who don’t often come out of their shells are the ones to watch for.
When I looked at the fixtures last week though, I thought that Leicester looked harder. Let’s hope I was right!

1st February 2019 at 1:42 am #32638The positive is Mak that although itโs been a mixed month for us, there is still a spark in the team. They are still finding a way in a lot of the games to get something be it by hook or by crook. And most of the teams in the top 6, even City, have got their problems. As for the other night, as I said previously, I think these training trips away can sometimes work two ways. Granted weโve had our injuries, several members of the team just looked off the other night. Whilst having time off somewhere different seems like a good idea on the surface, I think you can also drift into a more relaxed mood after not playing a competitive game for a bit. (A similar thing happened two years ago vs Leicester after previously training abroad). But hopefully this will wake us up again.

1st February 2019 at 4:51 am #32639Ozzy… I’d never use injuries as an excuse (I mean injuries are like assholes, right, every team has got some!), but I don’t think our depth is that bad when everybody is fit to be honest. Up top we would Sir Harry, Wee Erik, Dele and Son with Lucus, Lamaela, Fernando, Sissiko as back-up, a midfield from Dier, Winks, Vicky, Moose (wait, we sold him, still sad about that! ๐ ) with Wee Erik, Dele, or Siisisksko as back-up is needed, (maybe another proper CM would be a good idea ๐ ), and in defence, our CB selection isn’t too bad… FB’s are an issue, got some but they’re all a bit iffy for the majority of this season so far to be honest, certainly an area to look at in the summer!

1st February 2019 at 6:48 am #32640AnonymousYa and it was a good point Mikus. Van Dijk gets a pass because he was sick but we definitely weren’t at full sharpness. My worry from here is Gomez. His injury didn’t heal properly, he’s not back training and is due back approximately on Feb 19th. Now, I hope it’s not going to be a case where they take another look and see that it’s still not healing and they then need to put him under the knife.
Gomez is the key to getting our defence back to being the way it was. Our back 4 is more in sync with him in the team. Van Dijk is definitely more comfortable playing next to him than Matip. The 19th seems like a long way away for me though. We’ll actually be playing Bayern without either, which is not going to go well for us. Still, we could have them both back for the 2nd leg.
We’ve got to do what we can to limp through West Ham and Bournemouth. Our front 3 have got to perform better. Mane was great the last day but the other 2 could have done better and they will have to do better in the next games because we are going to concede. They’ve got to step up and make up for our defensive problems, just like how the defence was making sure we got the 3 points when we could only manage 1 goal, in quite a few games this season.

1st February 2019 at 7:22 am #32641Chucks, itโs not just injuries, itโs fatigue as well. Like us your depth from top team to fill ins is nowhere near c$ty & I think thatโll tell as the season rolls on, esp with C/L games. Hope Iโm wrong, Iโd love to see us 1 & you lot 2.

1st February 2019 at 7:27 am #32642Exactly cyber chum, we had a lot of our boys in the last weekend of the WC (pretty much our entire first team was playing that weekend!), and Sonny has disappeared a couple of times for other tourny’s… obvioulsy I’m baised, but I’m pretty damn impressed with my boys with how they’ve coped with everythign thus far this season…
Have to admit though, prefer my boys 1 and your boys 2… ๐

1st February 2019 at 3:15 pm #32643Seems like Poch has had a bit of a Damascus moment going by today’s press conference.

1st February 2019 at 4:50 pm #32645Poch:
“The Man Utd job? For sure, who isn’t interested in managing the biggest club in the world? Ever since I set foot in the door at Spurs, I’ve wanted to go to Utd. The quicker I can leave here, the better.
The league? No, no, we’re not trying to win the league. Winning the league just builds egos. We just want to get top 4.”

1st February 2019 at 8:43 pm #32648“I want to be clear with you and everyone, if you twist my answer like many times and manipulate my answer, sometimes you make me look โoh Iโm so happy we didnโt signโ and not win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Enough is enough, i am happy to work with my squad, I have a good squad, but always I am open to add more quality. You need to improve, if we canโt add I am not going to be sad, I am going to be happy to work with my players and I am so positive that we can win without or with signing.
I want to win for my CV, I want to win for my fans, for y players, for my family too.
People get a bad feeling, not any manager or player, you know why players arrive in the first team? Because they want to win. You need to stick with your way and philosophy and try to win how your emotions are, but the first to the end, we are here because itโs about winning.
We want to touch glory, we arenโt here for business, we start our careers because we want to touch glory. You know I think in our position itโs easy to talk but we are here to win and you choose your way to arrive to win.
Football, different philosophies, playing with three strikers, or without the striker, everyone wants to win and every single guy that is in front is true. Football is a lovely sport and you can play football under the rules in the way you want. Football is beautiful but you decide in the way you want to play” Maurizio Pochettino 1/2/19

1st February 2019 at 11:18 pm #32652In a round about way, do people just want M Poch to declare his love to Manchester United?
Would save a great deal of posts, wouldn’t it?
This is more of a variety of interest than to enjoy life and football.

2nd February 2019 at 10:13 am #32653I wouldn’t say it’s limited to Poch Nil. The world would be a better place if everyone declared their love for Manchester United!
Mikus, yeah there’s definitely an aspect of that in his rants. I think he’s one of these that just ramble on and then realise afterwards what he’s actually said. One minute he’s flirting with Real and the all so common “in the future, who knows?” was a common theme of his. Last week it was him saying he will stay as long as they want him. I think most of what he says has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
