Chuky…a bit light on the bottle tops and i certainly would not let Jesus go. I doubt we will fill Augerro boots easily but I think we have one more season for his contract and he wants to see it out. Dont forget the bottle tops have to be gold ones!!!!

25th February 2019 at 9:08 pm #34335Makaveli..you need to be wary of Watford, they are capable of springing a surprise or collapsing, very unpredictable I would say but you should have too much for them On Kepa, I have never believed the player or the manager in the knee jerk statements but the one thing we all know is it does not matter if you think you are fit to carry on or not, when your number is up….YOU WALK. I also think Willy C would have save two of City’s penalties but Chelseas did not do enough to be a winner of this game, they were focused on not looseing again

25th February 2019 at 9:10 pm #34336Mak, it’s likely to me normal service will be resumed re Kepa and it’ll all be nipped in the bud. Maybe Sarri’s been advised as he probably doesn’t want a new headache.
Not that I care a great deal in all this but purely from a football fan POV, I actually would have given Caballero an opportunity and punished Kepa.
I think both Hendo and Klopp would have ironed out any tensions from yesterday.

25th February 2019 at 9:12 pm #34337I would definitely have chosen Caballero Brian over Kepa for the shootout.

“I would definitely have chosen Caballero Brian over Kepa for the shootout.” Kepa was injured it’s pure conjecture that it was a tactical decision all of this happened when Kepa was on the floor having received treatment for the same problem a second time around.
Injury or tactical Kepa was still wrong not to come off and the Club have fined him.

‘I was very happy to play in my first Cup Final for Chelsea yesterday and very proud of the team performance. I have thought a lot more about yesterday’s events. Although there was a misunderstanding, on reflection, I made a big mistake with how I handled the situation. I wanted to take the time today to apologise fully and in person to the coach, to Willy, my team-mates and to the club. I have done this and now I want to offer the same apology to the fans. I will learn from this episode and will accept any punishment or discipline the club decides is appropriate.’SARRI
‘Kepa and I have spoken about the incident. It was a good conversation. There was a misunderstanding yesterday but he realises he made a big mistake in the way he reacted. He has apologised to me, his team-mates and the club. It is up to the club if they want to discipline him according to the club rules, but for me this matter is now closed. The team performance as a whole was extremely positive and it is a shame to see how this incident has overshadowed our efforts in what was a very competitive Cup Final. Everyone’s focus is now on the next game and we must all now put this behind us.’The Club has made a decision to fine Kepa one week’s wages and donate it to the Chelsea Foundation.

26th February 2019 at 9:13 am #34349“It will be dealt with internally and if not forgotten, its importance will soon fade. I think everyone at Chelsea can spot a bandwagon and even a witch hunt a mile away by now, so we move on.” Pat Nevin.

26th February 2019 at 9:18 am #34350AnonymousEqually though everyone outside of the Chelsea payroll and fan club can see a whitewash and a manager hanging by a thread with no respect of the players and support of the club.
Back a manager or a £70m player, mmm?
Very few, if any, clubs would do different but let’s not pretend this isn’t an attempt to whitewash the incident.

26th February 2019 at 9:24 am #34352Alfie, imagine though had this been another club like a Man United or a Liverpool and we would have seen the ‘holier than thou’ attitude. Lol, Henderson’s brought into comparison!
They’ve clearly tried to do a patch up job in order to avoid disrupting the momentum and in the process have played with the intelligence of football fans, and their own supporters.
They’re not dumb. That would never have happened in the example of another Club Manager. Feel for Sarri and it just seems like he’s been shafted.
It also seemed to me that Kepa was on the naughty side feigning injury to run down the clock and basically played with fire. This resembles in reminder of a certain incident involving a certain player where the Club Doctor came out and was lambasted by Jose – I smell a rat.
Basically though, a case of “do what you like”!

26th February 2019 at 9:24 am #34353If Sarri is hanging by a thread that will have much more to do with what went before this incident than anything else.

26th February 2019 at 9:30 am #34355Two words Nil Luis Suarez a bigger whitewash you will never see over a much more serious incident as Alfie said re Kepa “Very few, if any, clubs would do different.”

26th February 2019 at 9:54 am #34356On Sarri. Looking from outside he has not been backed openly by the club.
Brendan Rodgers. Ask Swansea fans about him. It has little to do with football. Not a good appointment imo. You cant judge Celtic in Scottish football without Rangers over the past few seasons. It a bit like putting Utd in League One. I think they might win it every year.

26th February 2019 at 10:30 am #34357The keeper should be dropped and there’s no going back now. It was a disgraceful incident. It’s so embarrassing for the manager. He should be totally backed and that’s no punishment
For me saurez should have been sacked but he was to good a player and our backing of him
Was embarrassing at the timeLike every fan, I’m fickle and cheered when he scored but I wanted him gone and I wanted him gone when he wanted to leave in 2013
Players are now bigger then the manGers.

26th February 2019 at 10:53 am #34358“Everyone at the club has to draw a line under this as quickly as possible. Chelsea are in an intense battle for the top four and face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. They simply cannot afford to go into that huge clash — and indeed the rest of the season — without their first-choice goalkeeper.”
“I cannot imagine the club would wish to jettison him just six months after they spent a world-record £71.6million to sign him from Athletic Bilbao. Kepa should not be vilified for this incident. He hasn’t done this consciously to embarrass his boss.
“Remember, this is a young man in his first final for his new club. His actions showed his determination to finish the job after shutting out a Manchester City side that have scored a staggering 127 goals in all competitions this season.” Jamie Redknapp

26th February 2019 at 1:18 pm #34360AnonymousNB – yep, i thought similar. It’s likely he was faking having cramp (I cannot think of another example of a goalkeeper getting cramp), and that came back to haunt him when his number came up on the board. Sarri’s issue is that he clearly has no respect from the players. How can he possibly take training or give another team talk? Yet, now that he has rolled over and had his belly tickled by the club, how can he possibly go elsewhere and demand the respect of the players when he inevitability gets the boot from Chelsea at the end of the season?

26th February 2019 at 1:20 pm #34361“Some Chelsea players believe coach Maurizio Sarri could be sacked if they lose to Tottenham on Wednesday, with former assistant Steve Holland lined up to replace him in a caretaker role.
Sarri is still struggling to keep his job at Stamford Bridge, despite the team’s creditable performance against Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final defeat.
As Standard Sport revealed last week, the Chelsea hierarchy have made qualification for the Champions League their main priority for the campaign.”
Seriously people if Sarri goes it will have absolutely nothing to do with Kepa not wanting to be substituted because of injury.

26th February 2019 at 1:23 pm #34363AnonymousI think Redknapp has a point – we’d all like players to toughen up and play through an injury or stay on the pitch if they can if it helps the team out. I’m sure Rashford’s stock has risen with some Man Utd fans after Sunday for example. But I also think Redknapp misses the point. It was the blatant disrespect that Kepa showed to Sarri that is the issue, not anything else. Redknapp misses the point that Kepa could just have run over to the side and told Sarri that he was fit to continue and didn’t need to go off, or told teh physio/doctor or told an outfield player the same.
Ole called Young over when Utd had those injuries on Sunday and it was all sorted calmly. The way Kepa reacted was disgraceful. That is the issue. Redknapp would be a better pundit if he understood the issue in the first place.
