24th September 2019 at 10:20 pm #48350Agreed Adlab, the two young CBs looked very comfortable and fitted into the system well. Good overall team performance after making nine changes and into the hat for the next round.
(Hope that’s not being too arrogant ?)_____________________________

25th September 2019 at 1:19 am #48354AnonymousHonestly, Im not sure I can bring myself to care about this cup. It’s not really worth much when you’re thinking “we can rest some and get others fit, yay!”…

25th September 2019 at 5:20 am #48355AnonymousThe competition is meant to develop and give younger players opportunities plus experience and its considered a major trophy so it’s well worth staying in as long as can be.

25th September 2019 at 6:21 am #48356MOOS? “Tough luck Chuck think we all wsnrec Spurs to go through to make the competition more invigorating”
no
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO…and so on and so forthmore than happy for the spuds to crash out at the lowest ranked team left and miss out on yet another trophy, have a small essex club in the next round and have a bit of giant killing to boot….
i think Poch would fit in at RM currently, both play in white and struggle to won with good squads 🙂

25th September 2019 at 7:12 am #48359all jokes aside…the following is a post from possibly the last remaining spuds fanon TT…thougt it would be good to put here……
It has been a long time since I have posted on here but after last night I felt the need to.
The club is in disarray. Exposed manager more defensive of his position by the days, divas who are only interested in picking up their paycheck and not earning it, and fans who have never felt more disconnected with a squad that had potential to win a trophy, even a tin pot one.
Poch has been found out and no this is not an overreaction. Inconsistent tactics and team selections, poor in-game judgment but the occasional decent win will apparently tape over the cracks. A couple of the aspects of Poch’s reign that he has been widely praised for can be easily pulled apart.
ADVERTISING1) Development of players/youth: This is by far the most widely held myth that Poch has brought on much of the current squad from what they were. No, this is called development by experience. Much of the squad when Poch arrived such as Vertonghen, Eriksen & Lloris were entering their peak years or building on the previous season by first team exposure. A few examples of horrific development would be Alli, Trippier, Dier, Wanyama and Sanchez. All initially improved but over the years each has seen their form plummet and the resulting game time decrease. The performances of Trippier for Atletico Madrid this season uphold this, a good manager coaches him. Dier went from a good DM prospect to a lump who cannot run. Alli went from scoring beautiful goals to being anonymous. Sanchez was arguably the best CB prospect in Europe, only in front of De Ligt on an age basis, and now he looks erratic and unsure. One player who has also regressed arguably is Kane as his all round play is very good, able to create a good number of opportunities for others, however Poch needs to say to him to refrain from getting so involved and be the focal point. Often Kane drops deep to collect the ball and looks up to see where the outlet is although there isn’t one. He is the outlet meaning our attack stutters and we struggle to breakdown defensive teams. A good role model for him in this respect would be Firmino who hold the ball up well, is still mobile and yet creates good opportunities, however Poch will not want to upset his star man.
ADVERTISING2) Use of English players: Happened to be a club with a decent amount of internationals or good prospects on brink of first team football. Since then only KWP (barely used) and Skipp (who actually looks good and should keep Wanyama away) have had consistent exposure. Complete nonsense that he has played a significant role in the England squad selection over the past few years.
3) Man management & Transfers: This summer truly exposed how bad things have become. The likes of Aurier, Rose and Wanyama were told to find new clubs yet none were sold. Professionally this should not affect your performances however this is demoralizing and negatively impact the players mental state. The likes of Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen all have one year left and not enough has been done to retain their services or sell them before losing them next summer on a free. Where is the Lloris replacement that has been needed for a number of years? The visible connection between the players and Poch has been lost, both on and off the pitch.
One thing I will never understand is how fans can see the issues of the team yet the coaches do not, or do not listen.
Poch, many thanks for the good times but I think it is time to go. We need a winning manager such as Allegri or Mourinho. It may not be pretty football but what we need is a winning mentality to break this current cycle of fragility._____________________________

25th September 2019 at 7:24 am #48361yeah but i can actually see where he is coming from….its not like the liverpool situation of being CL finalists (the year before) as you played better and more consistantly and were on a general upward trend in every department culminatin in last year 2nd and CL winners and now unbeaten in the PL this season and still flying….you havent had a hang over at all….
similar to us, we were CL finalists once (honest) and we never kicked on or invested or improved and let players have a free ride by their ever increasingly fragile of mind manager!
we went a season unbeaten then didnt kick on yet again with the results we are still forced to eat now….
ive said it before and will say it again, the 2 clubs are very similar, the shiny new stadium, not buying when they should to save money and so on and so forth and its worse for them as they have not won a thing in that time, at least we used to pick up the odd FA Cup….and you all heard the AFC tv metdowns, unless something changes fast at spuds it could get worse, but they still have many many positives…its a knife edge and the conduct of the whole team form board to playing staff will determine of they collapse as we did and united have or can finally kick on as liverpool have….my money would be the former!

25th September 2019 at 8:26 am #48365Poch acknowledged the problems with the squad last night and is talking about spending in January the problem with that of course is that it’s historically very difficult to buy the players you want in the January transfer window.
Overall Spurs are suffering from a lack of investment to an aging squad with several players coming to the end of their contracts and likely to leave on a free.
I expected Spurs to win a domestic Cup this season that’s just got harder.
As Arsenal have found to their cost shiny new Stadiums are no good if you don’t have the right team and players to go with it.

25th September 2019 at 8:34 am #48366……….also the constant speculation re Poch doesn’t help Spurs either this is what he said when asked the question about Real Madrid at the FIFA Awards the other night “Coach Real Madrid? Maybe some year.” A throw away remark? Or the wrong response?
Although even if a parting of the ways might be beneficial both Club and Manager are now locked into an expensive long term contract which is probably difficult to negotiate out of on both sides.

25th September 2019 at 8:48 am #48367AnonymousSteveo, can I ask who posted that as he deserves a round of applause, everything I wanted to say but better. I’m not one who is persistently critical about my club but we are in a mess, that’s just stating the bloody obvious .
I’ll remain on the fence until Lo Celso, Sessegnon, and Ndombele get settled, and he has put a rocket up Dele and Christian as they have been poor for 18 months.
People take the piss if you win The Carabao Cup saying it’s a joke cup, I’d love a day at Wembley to watch us win it, that’s why I feel badly cheated today._____________________________

25th September 2019 at 8:59 am #48368Anonymous27, regarding an ageing squad, lloris 32, Toby 30, Jan 32, Danny 29 and Disco 30 all the others are 27 and under, I wouldn’t call that particularly old ??

25th September 2019 at 9:32 am #48373as for my lot, dindt get to see the game but it sounds like we did very well had opur RB, LB and a CB back form injury and playing, hopefully they continue and get in the 1st team and we become at least little more solid at the back! nice to see martinez score a couple too, there is great hopes for this lad both here and in Brazil, hopefully we dont mess up his progress if true!

25th September 2019 at 10:10 am #48375AnonymousHightown… Bielsa to Chelsea/spurs/united too…Great manager and I think a few top clubs will be in for him when they sack their current flavours of the month.
Stevo, good result against Forrest last night. quite a tricky tie to navigate as forest have a few really decent youngsters again coming through their academy…

25th September 2019 at 10:33 am #48378Tba, yes an aging squad was probably over egging the omelette perhaps a squad in need of rejuvenation would have been more accurate.
