3rd February 2021 at 6:29 pm #174738It often seems the case that after a long serving manager, there follows a period of short term appointments. I think this is because clubs get too complacent and comfortable with the original manager and are then caught off guard when they leave or things decline.

3rd February 2021 at 8:15 pm #174741Wednesday night at a wet Turf Moor is never an easy one. We played well tonight.

3rd February 2021 at 8:18 pm #174742Ed, allegedly Frank has no interest in the Bournemouth job? He’s always been very ambitious and is seemingly looking for bigger fish to fry?

3rd February 2021 at 9:18 pm #174744And that’s why there’s very few top English managers, they don’t want to build the foundations for success to built on……Pagan

3rd February 2021 at 9:19 pm #174745Too many passes.
Nobody meeting a cross,
No dribbling in running at defenders.
It’s easy for Brighton.

3rd February 2021 at 10:15 pm #174746We were not going to score all day long. Brighton deserved that.
We had very little imagination tonight. Defense not to blame at all. This game screamed for both Mane and Coutinho. Some of the other players are at best fringe.
10 points is too much of the gap at this stage of the season. I felt for the first time tonight, the Title slipping away from us.
Yet again, how many home wins at all Tonight? Zero. No home fans; just freakish. Unless you have a Top Top 11 and squad depth, it’s a struggle to uphold form and consistency.

3rd February 2021 at 11:23 pm #174748Not much to add to the above. You just sensed we’d hiccup tonight. Raise our game for the London games, then struggle tonight. Squad players not good enough, not enough matchwinners in the side, still not enough goals from midfield, and missing the Anfield 12th man.

4th February 2021 at 5:35 am #174749Yeah crazy that a side like Brighton can come to Anfield and be the better side with more shots and more on target. Just wasn’t Liverpool’s night. Expect them to bounce back on Sunday.
I agree with that Pagan. Lampard has achieved nothing in management and nor will he if he goes back into it with the attitude that a promotion chasing Championship side is beneath him.

4th February 2021 at 6:47 am #174750What’s the story with Thiago? He’s a wonderful player. Really expected him to hit the ground running there but he’s just not looked his usual self whenever I’ve seen him for Liverpool.
Can’t help but think Bayern have done it again. They seem to just know when to let a top player go. They did it with us with both Schweinsteiger and Hargreaves. Two brilliant players but ones who were constantly injured or unfit. I know they made an attempt to keep Thiago but I wonder how committed they were to keeping him, in hindsight.
Just read that Liverpool haven’t won a game at Anfield in which Thiago started. Is that true? Maybe he just hasn’t started that many games but that’s quite a telling stat.

4th February 2021 at 8:13 am #174751Ed, to be fair to Frank he was only sacked by Chelsea just over a week ago he may not want to jump straight into the first job that becomes available within days of losing the Chelsea job given all his emotional ties to the Club he might want to get over that before considering new opportunities.
I don’t think Frank will necessarily close his mind to a Championship Club providing it was the right Club at the right time.

4th February 2021 at 8:27 am #174752Unfortunately Liverpool have struggled against the lower sides all season.
A significant injury list hasn’t helped them this season and the squad is probably a bit thin too, also the players played at a massive intensity for 3 years under Klopp and his kind of football is hard to maintain over a long period, reflections of Dortmund?
Liverpool are still a very good team with very good players though and will bounce back although retaining the title looks a big ask now even if they beat City on Sunday they would still be 4 points behind with City having a game in hand a better goal difference. But they’re still not completely out of it if they can beat City and go on a long winning run?
Liverpool definitely have enough to finish in the top 4 though and if they can’t win the title I still think they will finish second. Winning the CL is not out of the question but they will have to play at a much higher level a la West Ham and Spurs away to have a chance of doing that.

4th February 2021 at 9:21 am #174754Remember our record at Anfield is appalling.
For some reason we just don’t seem to do it there._____________________________

4th February 2021 at 9:22 am #174755Doubt very much if Frank will go from Chelsea to Bournemouth. His a proud man and that would be a big step down no disrespect intended. He was still too young for the Chelsea job maybe the Celtic job would be appropriate for him right now.

4th February 2021 at 9:25 am #174756City have won just once at Anfield in the last 40 years, but they will have never have a better chance to add their only Premier League victory there back in 2003. The champions have been served notice of City’s intent.13 hours ago

4th February 2021 at 9:41 am #174757Ed, to much of our play is trying to go through the middle now abd it’s fair to slow. Thisgo wouldn’t be starting for me at the minute if we had everyone fit. Our play is far to slow
He’s only played a few games at anfield. He’s playing in a different system. He’s had a bad injury abd Covid mate but he’s hasn’t been great. I won’t write him off and hopefully next season he improves
Munich wanted him to stay. He was offered a new contract. He was used to playing in 4-2-3-1 system but great players adapt to new systems. See how he gets in next season. All about top 4 for me and had been a for a while.

4th February 2021 at 9:50 am #174758I was discussing this with a friend of mine the other day. It’s crazy how quick favs write off teams/managers/ new players etc.
For two weeks some Liverpool fans have been saying thisgo is not good enough 😂. He’s here a wet day. Another fan said klopp was losing it and it was like Dortmund last season. He finished 7th once and people nearly talk about that more then his league wins
Last season pep was being written off adter 2 previous unbelievable points tallies and that city were finished
Jose was back in October and spurs were going to be title challengers etc
You even had a few questioning tuchel on his team choice after one game!
The two German lads have been written off at Chelsea time abd time again when they are only here a few months. New country illness etc. It’s crazy
It’s an absolutely bizarre time for everyone. No fans etc. It’s a crazy season and anything can happen. I’m enjoying it but the media/pundits/fans over reaction we to everything dies me head in. That’s football I suppose
