Anybody understand Chelsea team selection?
United not very good last night. It shows that you can take nothing for granted this season.

28th January 2021 at 11:14 am #174537Teams need results for different reasons and whoever you face, you can’t take them for granted. We expect a lot of our own club players throughout the year and they tire.
The season’s been compressed and no real time to recuperate. Some Managers ideally would like to rotate, but they don’t have either the depth of quality or they are dealing with injuries. This half of the season edges closer to the business end so there will be teams fighting for survival, and further up the table, more clubs the way results have panned out so far will take encouragement to be ambitious.
Dressing room talk you’d suspect would be filling players with more belief and confidence. The absence of any public support at grounds make a difference.

28th January 2021 at 7:22 pm #174541Disappointing to see Henderson at cb. Miss him so much in midfield
Spurs 5 at the back. Spurs score early it be ten behind the ball and no coming back
1-0 spurs written all over this
I’d take a draw now

28th January 2021 at 8:55 pm #174543HT 0-1. Spurs always looked suspect down the middle. VAR strikes again with an armpit offside or was it a big toe!

28th January 2021 at 10:20 pm #174546Absolutely delighted with the win and 3 points – wholesome. The last month or so has been tough to say the least with results, form and player confidence.
But we’ve tried our best to hang in there and now it look as though we’ve got our mojo back. We were fluid with possession, and played with confidence and assurance.
Hopefully now we can use this victory to pick up more results and see how we fare over the next coming weeks. Happy Days and nice for a change to go into a Weekend with a win under our belts.

29th January 2021 at 7:23 am #174547I find Dier to be one of the worst players I have ever seen that’s played for Spurs and England. His probably in the teams for other reasons maybe he has a strong personality but that should never be the sole criteria.

29th January 2021 at 8:14 am #174549Important win for Liverpool which I predicted because despite their recent problems they’re a good team with exciting players and things were going to turn around eventually.
Would it have been different had Son’s goal stood when he was offside in the build up by a heel perhaps because of the run Liverpool were on but Spurs were awful last night particularly defensively and losing Kane at ht sealed their fate.
Liverpool need to go on a run now and their next 6 fixtures are tough ones bar Brighton at home if they come through those and sign a decent Centre Back in the next few days things will look a lot more positive for them but they still face a big task in this year’s title race in trying to overhaul this season’s City side.
It will still probably come down to a race between City and Liverpool for the title and the good thing this season is that unlike in other seasons nobody is running away with it.

29th January 2021 at 8:17 am #174550Blaze, when I saw the spurs bsck 5, I thought we had a great chance to beat them. No idea why alderweild was on the bench.
His negatives tactics really were dreadful last night againest a very fragile team.
I thought son looked more onside last night then at anfield when the goal was given
Diet handled the ball before Bobby and fouled him so salahs goal should have stood
Matip out for 2/3 months we now have no fit senior centre backs. We have 3 days to act but it’s not going to happen.
Could really cost us

29th January 2021 at 8:21 am #174551That’s it nine. When spurs set up like that, the defenders cannot make any mistakes. It has to be 100 % concentration and you know you have a chance with aurier.
Spurs bench looked very good and no idea why alderweild on the bench mate.Jose got it badly wrong last night and you just can’t let us get in behind so easily.
We will really miss winjildium. Great to get a win and hopefully we push on now.

29th January 2021 at 10:04 am #174553Yeah Spurs were very poor last night. I was going to write before the game that Spurs (under Mourinho) is probably the last place you want to go when you’re struggling to score goals but Liverpool showed they’re still going to be fighting for the big trophies this season.
First test passed with flying colours for Liverpool whose season could well have been defined by this upcoming run of tough games.

29th January 2021 at 11:39 am #174554Jose always plays the safe percentage game when he doesn’t quite trust his players, particularly against more attacking sides. I think we’ve debated this before when Spurs would have been better to attack more in such games, like the game at Anfield. But for Jose it’s about staying in a game to maximise the chances of eking something out of them. Indeed, the definition of the word “eking” does sum up José’s general modus operandi: “make an amount or supply of something last longer by using it frugally.”
It’s not always going to work, but over the course of a season to Jose it will pay off. Spurs are potentially only one point off top 4, are in a league cup final and remain in all other cups they could be in. I’m sure most Spurs fans would take that at the moment._____________________________

29th January 2021 at 11:47 am #174555Ed, Unitd are still in it too Ed 3 points better off than Liverpool with the same number of games played. I wouldn’t write anyone off juet yet in the top 5 or 6 even though City are looking so strong.

29th January 2021 at 12:00 pm #174556No I agree Nine. You can’t really write off any of the teams right down to probably Everton, who could be a point behind us of they win their games in hand.
The fact is, though, you’d do well to find someone who genuinely thinks Utd will do it this season. The fact we’re 3 ahead of Liverpool but almost 2x the odds is quite telling.
I always said 3rd and closing the gap to the top 2 would be real progress and I think I still stand by that.

29th January 2021 at 12:19 pm #174557City slipped to 12/5 to win the league just before Christmas. Should have put a bit of money on then.

29th January 2021 at 12:50 pm #174558But mikius, it’s failing more then it’s working for Jose.
Spurs fans aren’t happy with that approach last night ftom what I’ve read
We have discussed it before so we will see at the end of the season mate
