Imagine City with Haaland in the team. That’s a frightening thought should it happen.๐

14th December 2021 at 8:55 pm #191413Not how Pep sees it though Lucky. I’ll run round Stamford Bridge naked if City don’t buy a striker by next Summer’s window.๐๐๐

14th December 2021 at 9:39 pm #191420To think how Chelsea struggled to beat Leeds Saturday, think it’s just a matter of time City start pulling away from everyone.

14th December 2021 at 10:16 pm #191423AnonymousEd, in fairness to you, you’ve been saying it for ages. I think City can beat pretty much any team in the PL by that margin, if they are having a bad day (I include Liverpool), there’s no getting away from his inability to compete against any half decent team in the PL.
They need to invest well of course that’s grand but he’s not up to the PL. I can see him getting fired real soon. Gerrard took over Villa and is doing well so far but Leeds wouldnt have been a bad club for him perhaps either. They have a few handy players, they just need to realise that they have got to be some way tactical about how they take on teams who are technically superior.

14th December 2021 at 10:36 pm #191426Anonymous12 points of new manager bounce is bloody substantial! Well done to the Villa players and Gerrard himself for it. Things will naturally drop off again at some stage but this amount of points might be significant in avoiding relegation.

14th December 2021 at 11:07 pm #191428Didn’t get a chance to follow the footie but boy that’s a Statement. Good use of rotation at a busy time of the year. Good depth pays off.

15th December 2021 at 6:58 am #191431I hope they keep Bielsa as Leeds have been great for our goal difference, at least under Ole. They’re just incredibly naive. We tore them apart twice at OT so it’s no surprise to see City do that to them. I think having such an intense training and playing regime puts a huge demand on player commitment to the cause. Once doubts start to creep in and the desire and intensity drops, it’s easy for it to start falling apart.

15th December 2021 at 7:19 am #191435Last season Villa finished 11th with 55 points they went on a bad run under Smith but we’re really in a false position in relation to the quality of their squad undoubtedly the appointment of Gerrard has given them a lift but there were and are a lot of teams worse than Villa in the PL they were never going down imo.
January and the Summer will be interesting times for Villa as Gerrard attempts to mould Villa into his own team.
Norwich are almost certainly doomed but we knew that before Smith took over.

15th December 2021 at 7:24 am #191437Sorry Ed my post wasn’t a response to your post merely a reflection on what I saw last night.
It will imo take a very special team to finish above City in the PL this season.
Even without a recognised striker.๐

Glad to see KDB coming back into form.

15th December 2021 at 1:42 pm #191451Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard claimed that he made a tactical switch in last nightโs game against Norwich City to try limit the influence of Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour.
Gilmour, 20, is on a season-long loan at Norwich this season and has been back in the starting line-up since Dean Smith took charge at Carrow Road.
The central midfielder has shown he can operate at the top level with his composure and quality on the ball, but itโs not been plain sailing so far during his loan.
Unfortunately, Norwich are sat bottom of the Premier League table in the thick of a relegation fight and last nightโs 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa hasnโt helped.
Villa boss Gerrard revealed in post-match comments that he made a late substitution to try nullify Norwichโs Gilmour when they were pressing for an equaliser. Carney Chukwuemeka entered the action in the 83rd minute to carry out the managerโs instruction, plus he even assisted Villaโs second goal late on.
โWe asked him (Chukwuemeka) to get around Gilmour because he was getting too many touches of the ball. He did that job very well,โ Gerrard said.
