Lucky, it was always going to be a problem with the Everton fans given his Liverpool links especially as he called Everton “a small Club” when he was Liverpool Manager.

That was where I was doing from Lucky if he had Everton challenging for a EL place it probably wouldn’t be a problem now but it’s very difficult to manage a Club when the fans aren’t behind you.

Rafa has got a lot of experience and could well turn Everton around yet but he really needs the fans behind him and that won’t be easy to achieve. Plus his injured players back.

Let’s hope he gets a proper chance.

Yeah I understand nine, I said at the time if it weren’t for history with pool I would say it’s a good appointment without reservation but as you have said that history was only going to be forgotten if the team really performed under him

I really have no idea what utd will do. I don’t know what style they want. They went toe to toe with Liverpool and got hammered. They got hammered at least performance wise by City. They then shut up shop and got a very good point against Chelsea. Granted Arsenal are none of those teams quality wise but they can play good football if given the chance. Going to be interesting for the neutral.

If I were Carrick I would want utd pressing arsenal in their own half and force them to try and play out. For one arsenal are no liverpool, and for two Carrick should play a team capable of doing that unlike ole who played Bruno and 3 strikers against pool which was suicide.

This Arsenal side don’t really do dominating possession. Away from home they average 42% share which is one of the lowest in the league. No idea what to expect from Utd. No result would surprise me tonight but it won’t be a great watch.

Everton are such a strange side. It seems like no matter who manages them and how much money they spend, they just float around 6th-8th. They’ve had some huge investment in recent years and some big, big name managers in Koeman, Ancelotti, Rafa. They just seem destined to be around that position regardless.

Ed, I think that’s because no matter what they spend or who manages them, they never have a squad that is amongst top 5 in the league.
