to the spurs alds out there, I mean no offense but given how spurs have played, I mjust have nothing but negativity towards them right now. I feel we deserve to win this match though and we’ve taken the lead. it isnt over yet but this is no more than we deserve.

We look so vulnerable at the back but that’s understandable with playing our 4th and 4th choice centre backs

Mak, pool deserved winners and clearly the better side, I do feel you are over reacting re spurs though. Try to look at it from their POV they are playing at anfield against a pool side unbeaten in 66 home games, you want pool to be respected for that or not?
Spurs paid due respect and executed a very good game plan that almost got them a point and if bergwijn or kane had taken their chances could have been a win.
All that said the best team won and glad they did

Jose trying to start an argument with Klopp at the end and only getting smiled at, jesus that’s satisfying. This was a bitter bitter game for me. Spurs anti-football tactics were appalling.
We deserved to win and did. I am not entirely confident in how we’re playing now though, there were problems in that performance but special mention for Robertson who was 9.5/10 tonight. best left back I’ve ever seen in my life. I dont think our forwards were really good enough TBH but they werent terrible. Glad Firmino got the winner though, he put in a lot of hard work tonight and had some decent moves.
Top of the table now and it’s justified. WE have got to step up a gear though if we want to maintain it, or as Nine thinks we’ll do, create a gap.
Im delighted, relieved and slightly vengeful in mood now after that win.

If Spurs just had one more very special player, Jose would have probably have played slightly less on the handbrake tonight. But obviously doesn’t feel confident enough and played the percentages game. Wonder if he would have brought Bale on if he’d been available.

LD, I’m not talking about the defensive gameplan, I am annoyed at the pretending to be hurt or leaving a leg in stuff that is nothing to respect in my opinion. The pretend head injury from Kane is genuinely unethical as they give special treatment towards head injuries. It should be untouchable in terms of simulation or exploitation.
When it comes to the defensive counter-attacking style, I’ve no problem with it. you play to your strengths and this is Jose’s strength but he also games the fouls and I am not on board with crediting this. It breaks up play and it’s just unseemly.

Nil, I’ll try and get into “thrilled” mode, I just have this bitterness from that match. Maybe LD is right and I am seeing more than there was but I really dont think so. its just typical Jose really. I recently saw an interview with an ex player (i forget whop sry) and he just admitted that he goes through all of this in training and focuses on exploiting whatever he can. Maybe there is some credit to be seen there but I wont give it to him.
