Unsurprisingly Gerrard was sacked he didn’t have the experience for the role having only managed Rangers in a poor 2 Club SPL where he goes from here will be interesting it certainly won’t be Liverpool.
Equally interesting is where Villa go from here and whether they can they attract someone like Pochettino?

21st October 2022 at 10:46 am #200184Poch would be a massive coup for Villa and is the favourite but I’d still be amazed if he goes there. Surely, he can wait for a bigger job than Villa?

21st October 2022 at 11:00 am #200185Talk now that Ronaldo has been fined 2 weeks wages. Ten Hag is really not messing about and rightly so.

21st October 2022 at 11:06 am #200186Fair to say the Villa fans never really took to Gerrard 😁

21st October 2022 at 11:24 am #200187I think Gerrard’s ambition got the better of him. He was only still raw as a manager and needed to either stay longer at Rangers, find a smaller club in the Premier League or an up and coming team in the Championship where the pressure and expectation would be lower, he’d be less in the public eye and he’d be freer to make mistakes as he made his way in his management career. Will probably have to drop down to the Championship now.

21st October 2022 at 11:25 am #200188As I was saying about Poch and Villa… just never thought it would be a big enough job for him
🚨 Ruben Amorim among candidates Aston Villa talking to
🚨 Mauricio Pochettino not joining
🚨 #AVFC gauged interest but Argentine want to return at higher level
🚨 Same for Thomas Tuchel
🚨 #BrentfordFC confident Frank stays

21st October 2022 at 12:39 pm #200189“Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.”
Only direction ten Hag could take given the circumstances any decent Manager would have done the same.
From a Chelsea perspective I’m glad to see Ronaldo not involved tomorrow he’s still a goal scoring threat even just coming off the bench.😊

21st October 2022 at 12:42 pm #200190Not surprised that Poch and Tuchel are looking for higher profile roles than Villa.

21st October 2022 at 1:03 pm #200191I think we need to set up a crowd fund page for Ronaldo…..cost of living and all that
Poor sod 😁

21st October 2022 at 10:21 pm #200196I’ve mentioned this a fair few times on Forums, but we need an Academic Structured Framework of a Personal Development Programme. The credence lies just as much to an Individual achieving a Team escaping relegation to a Team achieving Promotion to what Steven Gerrard achieved with Rangers winning the League which was absolutely Phenomenal.
Why or why have people sort of ‘touted’ for him to be the next Liverpool Manager. He is in Infancy as far as I’m concerned. I assert this because Aston Villa are a Massive Club with a Fan Base and should be deemed with the Respect it’s merited.
It’s a Big Job. It was a leap now viewing this all in retrospect and hindsight.
Let’s hope this doesn’t deter up and coming individuals in considering the ‘after life’ into management. Let’s give these guys, the Advice, The Support and All The Tools to Prepare Them Properly.

22nd October 2022 at 5:34 am #200197Just one last comment on Ronaldo, never liked him one bit because of that arrogant character his always had, but looking at it from a general point of view, if you sitting on the bench for the entire game and then get told to come on with a couple of minutes to go do you know how that player feels, it happened to me a few times so I know, it’s a mixture of being humiliated, frustration, anger and hatred towards the coach, however you still try to play your best IF you decide to go on. I suppose if you get paid that much it should be accepted, we got paid pittance to make it even worse. It’s not a great experience at all even if your team wins the game.

22nd October 2022 at 7:57 am #200199Rover, these are very highly paid professional players none are paid more than Ronaldo. They don’t get to decide whether to go on they have to go on if the Manager asks them to go on even with a couple of minutes to go.
The problem with Ronaldo one way or another should have been sorted in the Summer.

22nd October 2022 at 8:09 am #200200Gerrard’s was quite a well thought out strategy, decent foundation at Rangers all be it in a poor 2 team SPL, further development in a stronger PL at Villa and then on the back of what he hoped would be a decent time at Villa hopefully in a position to be considered for the Liverpool job when and if it became available which would have been his understandable desire.
Unfortunately it’s back to the drawing board now and managing Liverpool may well be an unfulfilled ambition.

22nd October 2022 at 9:10 am #200202Ahh, yes, the 93rd minute “tactical” substitution, which has absolutely no “time-wasting” permutations involved what-so-ever… goes under the same list as “why isn’t obstruction when the balls running out of play but is obstruction in the middle of the ptich?” and needs to be invesitageted by Molder and Scully.
As for Gerrard, I think the only people who don’t want him to manage LiVARberoOol are LiVARberoOol fans, I reckon everybody else is up for it! 🙂

22nd October 2022 at 12:03 pm #200203Wow that Liverpool team had no physical presence or height in it. Concerned we be bullied today. Missing fat to many players

22nd October 2022 at 12:21 pm #200204Indeed Sean, I’m not convinced we’ve turned things around yet. The two recent wins have obviously been welcome, but still weren’t convincing enough for me to suddenly say we’re back. We look pretty lightweight in midfield.

22nd October 2022 at 12:24 pm #200205Ah same here mikuis. West Ham dominated the 2nd half on Wednesday. Very concerned about today. So many key players injured and serious lack of height and physical power in that team. No options on the bench

22nd October 2022 at 1:29 pm #200208Well it is game week 12.😊
Forest put in a good shift and were competitive but they’re very limited up front.
Probably too many changes for Liverpool but that’s the result of 3 games a week, week in week out.
Can still see Liverpool scoring.
