According to the Swiss Ramble, Newcastle can spend enormous sums in a single window despite FFP. I don’t think they’re holding back due to FFP. I think they’re just ensuring they grow gradually and sensibly
In theory, #NUFC could splash out around £600m on transfers (say, 4 top class players at £150m each), increasing player amortisation by £120m a year (assuming 5-year contract), while increasing the wage bill by £62m (with players paid £300k a week) and still be below £200m. pic.twitter.com/CGd8Tq5eWt

19th October 2022 at 4:51 pm #200070Does not surprise me. Football>Money>football>Money> Football>Money….get the drift!!!! What has happened to a simple game of football?

19th October 2022 at 5:16 pm #200071Nine, apologies for the late reply mate. It’s been a bit peculiar with the itinerary and circumstances re PL Fixtures, but officially from the Premier League Website, we are on Gameweek 12. I think a few teams by Friday will have played 11 matches, but having a glance at the table, there’s teams on 9.
I think that’s just down to postponements and other reasons.
I’m led to believe now we are effectively on countdown to the World Cup, so the few weeks or whatever it is, it’s probably worth making the most of.
Cheers

19th October 2022 at 5:28 pm #200072I’m not sure how the facts and stats have been drawn up. What I do see though from an outsider looking in is Pep able to bring in for example Ruben Diaz and Rodri with gaps being filled.
We on the other hand have to sell sell sell, only to come up with Arthur Melo. With that in mind though, we were allowed to splash on Darwin Nunez of which in all honesty (and my little brother thinks exactly the same), he has failed to so far impress.
Mane is a big void, and I still feel we miss Coutinho. A game of opinions though as they say.

19th October 2022 at 6:59 pm #200073Nil, we brought Rodri and Diaz in and let players go, the rest we managed ligitamely or would you prefer another reason?

19th October 2022 at 7:05 pm #200075Ah nine why gauge it from 5 years?even go back another half a year.Pep has spent over a billion with a net spend of 440 to Liverpool net spending of 200m . Let’s absolutely not kid ourselves that it’s an even playing field.
This sll comes from Klopps comments on Friday. People don’t like him fair enough but he’s talking sense. If the info your getting is from Jim white off talks port then watch his follow up with Simon Jordan who puts him in his place.
Nothing to do with agendas. Liverpool have spent money. We know that it’s generated by sales. Pep already had a team full of stars . City and utd are out there on their own for spending
I’ve no idea how can even argue the fact.Klopp is here 7 years with a net spend of just over 200m. It’s a miracle he has us competing. He’s turned good players into world stars. He’s bought and sold really well. Let’s give the man some credit. He’s spent money but we are absolutely no were on the same level of city

19th October 2022 at 7:12 pm #200076Brian, in peace off the top of my head our experience is more measured in having to sell players first before having the ability to spend at the higher value. Please take into considering wages too.
I’m afraid we can’t compete with Manchester City which was what Jurgen Klopp alluded to openly and honestly. This has to be been taken out of context and thereafter branded Xenophobic which I feel is uncalled for.

19th October 2022 at 7:13 pm #200077Interesting Line up.
Okay, so bit sceptical about Trent, but it’s a 4-4-2 so that looks more structured and disciplined having 4 midfielders that will support the back line.
Hopefully the Reds can pick up where they left off and bag another vital 3 points.

19th October 2022 at 7:17 pm #200078It’s rubbish nil. What he said is absolutely spot on. Opposing fans don’t like cmub , it’s either that or club bias as I really can’t see how anyone can disagree with him

19th October 2022 at 7:19 pm #200079442 nil with Firmino Salah and Nunez all playing? For me either a 4231 or a 433 with Nunez on the left but not sure Carvalho would be the best choice in a middle 3. More likely 4231, we see very soon I guess.

19th October 2022 at 7:24 pm #200081Sean, I know mate, we don’t quite have that financial pulling power as Manchester City, just like other clubs won’t have when placed side-by-side against us.
I don’t get why some people out there are precious about an assertion made. Personally, I don’t want to get into an argument on here over it so best to just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

19th October 2022 at 7:27 pm #2000823ps, that’s a good observation and you may be right. The formation is probably to accommodate Nunez, as an orthodox Striker. Let’s see.

19th October 2022 at 7:27 pm #200083Regarding spending its always the same, the fans who support clubs that don’t have a bottomless pit are against it and the ones that do rather hilariously turn a blind eye. My worry is the Premier League becomes another so called farmers league with City winning everything every season. We are almost there already to be honest, thank whatever deity you follow for Liverpool at least breaking the domination once and running them close other times.
Although no doubt Necastle can now buy whoever they want they have been rather modest so far. Maybe it’s a case of top players not wanting to go to such a team until they gain more status, probably by getting in the CL. They do have possibly the best midfielder in the league mind in Bruno Guimaraes. Also Howe has really surprised me, doing a great job.

19th October 2022 at 7:46 pm #2000863ps, I may be wrong. Without in depth exploration to seek hard facts, my guess on the FSG Model hinges not only on the emphasis of generating funds from Players Sales (net spend), but also in the Salary.
I imagine of a more of a ‘disciplined’ framework set. I think we are a long long way from those blatant ‘Moneyball’ days and Fabio Borini.
Let’s not forget though under Brendan Rodgers, there were players that had the potential to grow. I think Klopp came at the right time to pick up the pieces to enhance what he had inherited along with signing his own.
A combination of factors.

19th October 2022 at 7:49 pm #200087Our goal is likely to come from a counter-attack me thinks. West Ham well organized so far, so now real spaces.
