At least one striker, possibly two need to be brought in. Problem being the main one will cost £80m plus and I am not sure what that leaves for other signings. Might need a couple of decent free transfers to fill other positions unless we can sell some players for decent money – which always escapes us.

28th April 2023 at 9:01 am #206584Only saw analysis of slight re the end of the first half, but I get where the observation’s are coming from re Spurs’ defending. They’re just effectively ball-watching and backing off rather than being proactive to make a challenge.
Quite surprised though that they came back, but then again, this is Tottenham all over and maybe the story of their season.
They could quite easily snatch a draw versus us. I’m still not convinced about us even though we ourselves put together on the bounce 3 wins.

28th April 2023 at 9:13 am #206585Sean, it’s a clear offside. Anthony Taylor never gives us anything.
There was a time earlier in the game where the ball spins off for a corner. Casemiro is on the line and would have been offside if he try’s to play the ball, somewhere near the edge of the box, he twists to get out of the way, no Spurs player near him, doesn’t touch the ball and Taylor gives offside.
Yet when a spurs player is offside, interfering with play, and a goal results then he won’t give offside.
I knew he wouldn’t give that, but VAR is there for a reason. They might as well scrap it as it seems to be only used as and when they feel like it, and that cannot be allowed.

28th April 2023 at 9:40 am #206586Alfie, I did notice the casemerio one and it looked like Taylor blew his whistle but there was no flag raised? I thought it was strange at the time to be honest.

28th April 2023 at 9:41 am #206587One thing that springs to my mind; why do we need somebody in ‘Stockley Park’ for example to make decisions? If there is a pitch side monitor, simply have somebody monitoring it for the course of the game.
The commentators for years have set themselves up somewhere high up in the stands.
It just seems to me that things observed and picked up by the ‘audience’ is unnoticed or either just shunned.

28th April 2023 at 11:23 am #206588Ten Hag needs time in years to really grow and innovate. For example, at times, it still looks as though United’s 11 is Ole’s. There are buys in question though like Anthony, but maybe he may improve next season. Players whether from overseas or within the country regardless can’t be expected to hit the ground running but we as fans forget about patience and live in the moment.
Definitely if not the best Newcomer of this Season.
Unai Emery: recognition for him in turning around Villa; real eyebrow raiser.
Eddie Howe though possibly Manager of the Year,
and of course, the main award to Pep Guardiola. He just goes from strength to strength.

28th April 2023 at 11:25 am #206589I’m not sure United can have too many arguments about the Spurs goal last night after the Fernandes goal in the ‘derby’. Btw, I do agree the Spurs goal shouldn’t have counted.

28th April 2023 at 11:27 am #206590I can answer that one GJBlues – it’s because there are laws of the game, and we feel they should be followed!

28th April 2023 at 11:36 am #206591Gjblues, seriously?! We’re going back that far and suggesting Utd can’t complain about decisions yesterday because of a single decision which went our way almost 4 months ago? 😆
I guess City fans can’t complain about any decisions at all then based on that first half you had against RB Leipzig with that very dodgy pen given to City and Ederson somehow escaping a red. Or how about the horrific De Bruyne dive for the pen against Fulham? See, it doesn’t really work like that does it? Otherwise, City fans wouldn’t have been allowed to even moan about the Fernandes decision. You were on here complaining about fans being too tribal but you’re as bad as the ones you’re complaining about 😁

28th April 2023 at 12:03 pm #206592Wow, that stirred up a hornets nest. I only wanted to make an observation. I hardly ever complain about decisions – what goes around comes around imo. And I did say that I didn’t think the Spurs goal should have counted – ah well, that’s me told then!!!!

28th April 2023 at 12:22 pm #206593😄 not at all gjblues. Takes more than that to get me riled. It’s just one of those completely illogical arguments which I’ve never got my head around.
“You can’t complain about decisions against your club. Don’t you remember what happened in the 16/17 season when your number 8 was offside but the goal was given?!”
It makes no sense at all because it would mean the only ones of us who could ever complain about decisions going against us would be those whose club has never benefitted from a decision and, well, you know what that would result in, right? Obviously, City fans will complain if decisions go against them at the weekend and rightly so. You’re hardly going to refrain from complaining about decisions simply because you’ve been on the right side of them are you? Well, you didn’t with the Fernandes one, which is kind of my point. Nobody said to you then, “hang on City fans, remember when De Bruyne dived against Fulham? Don’t be moaning about this offside now” It makes no sense at all 😄

28th April 2023 at 12:28 pm #206594See, I don’t even mind people complaining about decisions. I would have been very annoyed by the Fernandes offside decision in the derby had it gone against us. I think we more than deserved to win the game regardless but that’s a moot point (just as you did vs Fulham). The goal shouldn’t have stood despite what I first thought and said. My point is this completely illogical notion that people like to bring up that you’re not allowed to complain about decisions if you’ve ever benefitted from anything. It would be the end of football discussion/debates for good 😂
