This is one Lovely Boost going into the game this Sunday. First time for a while we’ve been back to that we exhibited last year. Allison really on the the dial tonight, Jota excelling, and one or two players coming back to match fitness.
Superb result and performance.

3rd November 2020 at 10:44 pm #169638AnonymousWe finally stepped up a gear and although I’m not getting too excited, since we have City next, it bodes well for the season.
We were wondering where the LFC side of last season have been. We saw flashes of the build up play in previous games but tonight we saw a lot more. Is the step up enough and also on time for City? We’ll have to see. If Jota is fit for it then I see him coming on as a sub but it’ll be a sub that they wont want to see.
I know it’s early but that Jota lad was a player I was really looking forward too, yet I had no idea he was THIS good. From day one , he’s slotted right into our team and not just that, he’s electric. it’s like we’ve signed mane all over again.
How do our recruitment know this much? Are they literally the best in the world at their jobs? I think they must be.

3rd November 2020 at 11:21 pm #169640Mak, it just shows you that these players are always out there. But many clubs fear spending big money on players who have yet to hit their heights, so they prefer to bring in more established players, but ones who aren’t as best suited to the team. And then they flop, but they panic again ever more the next time. It’s like a vicious circle. And we’ve obviously been guilty of it ourselves in the past. But again, whilst a recruitment team can identify good players, you still need the manager to know what fit you’re looking for. Even if a club has a good recruitment strategy, but has an average manager, it still doesn’t quite work. It’s why I would look to Spurs for being the best of the rest this season because if you support a good manager, that’s the right way round. If you try to support an unproven/average manager, as I say, it doesn’t quite work.

4th November 2020 at 2:45 am #169643AnonymousWe all watch quite a few games, right? At no time did I look at Jota and say “he’s got the pace and whatever to fit in here with us”. I think I have a reasonably good read of players, for a fan. I know they have sports science teams to work on and with and it helps but there’s obviously some far deeper stuff going on here when you can isolate a player to the point where he joins and slots right in like he’s been here years… oh and he also used to only score 1 in 5 but now he’s scoring for fun.
I get that he likely wont score at this rate from here on , who does? .. but it’s all natural looking with him and it’s blowing my bloody mind.
You know what annoys me about this Liverpool team? is that for all the appreciation we get from the lads on here, we cant really celebrate it with them. There’s a level of appreciation but that’s of course where it’s going to end. Mav, in the days of Fergie, I didnt bloody appreciate him, I hated him. Im more mature now and that gives me SOME excuse, or hope but you have just such class about it. people might wonder why I want utd to get back on some kind of track and maybe it’s the likes of you and Ed that have twisted my arm. i convince myself that it’s because I want my rival back and thats definitely a huge factor… I mean , I used to look forward to the games against Utd for months. Under fergie, I think ye usually beat us but they were thrillers. Ever since then, they’ve been some of the worst matches I’ve seen in the PL.
it isnt only that though, you are football lovers and you deserve better.

4th November 2020 at 8:25 am #169646Really good wins for Liverpool and City and with Jesus coming off the bench and scoring it sets Sunday up very nicely.
Not a very clever prediction but I think the CL winners will come from one of Liverpool, City and Bayern.

4th November 2020 at 8:28 am #169648AnonymousAgreed Nine. It’ll be one of us most likely. Liverpool have a ways to go in order to be at that level this season but last ,night was a great step forward.

4th November 2020 at 9:26 am #169651This was the level of performance, delivery and quality that spells 18-19. Though our start to our league campaign was colossal in 19-20, I always think we were a tad better during 18-19.
Especially winning the CL that year and pushing Man City all the way to the final day.
The Lockdown didn’t really help along with having no fans. Plus, going into the restart, we’d known mentally that we’d already got over the line.
We’ve regained from last night something that was lost and even without Van Dijk, that appetite, drive and aggression is coming back.

4th November 2020 at 2:47 pm #169652Whilst losing 7-2 to Villa certainly didn’t mean Liverpool were a fading team beating Atlanta 5 nil as good a result as that was doesn’t meant Liverpool are necessarily back to their best either.
I think we’ll see a lot of ups and downs this season from all teams for all sorts of reasons.

4th November 2020 at 3:08 pm #169654Exactly nine. I wouldn’t go overboard at all. Bad defeat on Sunday and it’s involves willians or Philips the vultures will be out
I fancied us from the off as Atlanta are so open. I haven’t seen a team set up like this since maybe 4 years ago.
We just about got over the line againest West Ham and sheff Utd. Really enjoyed last night but Sunday is the real test .
I’d take a draw Sunday bigtime. Huge test for us.
I actually fear for us because of the amount of goals we are conceding

4th November 2020 at 4:04 pm #169655Mak-I only like to tell things the way they are, would never have it any other way.And of course, things can change, but right now they are like they are.Klopp has been the best manager in the world for the past few years, without spending Greece`s GDP on players.I would love him @ United, every day of the week,if nothing else, just for telling Maguire,DDG,Shaw,Pogba,Martial, and a few more to fook off.Give me Wijnaldum,Shaqiri and Hendo over virusPogba anytime.

4th November 2020 at 4:26 pm #169656It should be a cracking game on Sunday, the only thing I am concerned about is that we are not a 90 minute team yet. At best we are 50/60 minutes but is improving as a whole game by game.

4th November 2020 at 5:18 pm #169659Mak-I would much rather see another Lesta,Spurs,Everton,Villa,Wolves, win the title in the next few years than United getting back to winning it.Honestly.

4th November 2020 at 5:29 pm #169660Sean, tough game for both City and Liverpool. No real home advantage without a crowd. City are stronger defensively than they were last season and Jesus is available.
Liverpool a bit of an unknown quantity currently defensively without Van Dijk but still very strong going forwards and Jota is doing very well.
Although I still think Firmino will start on Sunday.
Difficult game to call which suggests a draw much may depend on how Liverpool can cope with the attacking threat of City and the attacking pressure they can put on teams if Liverpool can cope with that I wouldn’t rule out a Liverpool victory.

4th November 2020 at 6:36 pm #169662AnonymousMav, don’t mention Leicester and titles to us… *glances over shoulder* 😛
Nine, ya I will be a very surprised man if Firmino doesn’t start and I am definitely worried in thinking about if we’ll cope defensively. If City hit us with everything they have, we might crumble back there. It has the potential to be embarrassing but of course if we do, as you say and we get our own game together, well we might get it but I’m with Sean on this, I’d take a draw NP… and I never take draws 😀

4th November 2020 at 7:41 pm #169663Mak….I do not see the same threat as you, City are fine but they do not have 90 minutes in them at the moment and I think that is where Liverpool will edge it. It is also noticeable when they drop of the pace. There are reasons of course but they do not count because if you want to be top you have to shed a few more tears of concentration and effort. I have no doubt we will get there but just question when because it is not there yet. I will enjoy the game because I am sure it will be a good one and it will not be a draw
