But ya, given how the week has gone for us, it was just nice to get the 3 points and no injuries. We’ll all feel great when Alisson and Thiago are back.

22nd October 2020 at 4:29 pm #168876Mak-A belated thanks for the kind words, mate. But as far as sports is concern,in general,I have lost every ounce of joy out of it.Without fans, plus the added dread of the VAR,it has completely taken away the pleasure of watching it.But the most important thing is this virus, where ordinary people are struggling toi make ends meet.
ps:hope you are coping ok with it all ,mate._____________________________

22nd October 2020 at 5:06 pm #168877Nice words, Mav. It’s a shame you’ve lost your joy out of football – I kind of know what you mean, but personally I’m finding it about the only release at the moment. Working for a brewery, my job and livelihood is far from secure, and I’m currently on furlough with the prospects looking pretty gloomy for November with our pubs in Manchester all closing indefinitely tonight as we move in to Tier 3. And I’m having to self isolate currently as one of my customers tested positive last week. So not left the house since Sunday, and imprisoned till next Tuesday. Still, I am aware there are a lot of people a lot worse off than me, so I am finding the footy a bit of release to be honest. While it does have the ability to hugely piss me off with things like VAR, Jason Pickford, England performances and Jose, I still love the beauty of a great goal or the comedy of an own goal like last night. Highly priced escapism, I suppose!
Anyway, roll on the day we’re allowed back in grounds. That will be a party, I’m sure.

22nd October 2020 at 5:09 pm #168878Mak – I would be very surprised if Jurgen went as far as dropping or resting Trent, but his form is a bit of a worry. I hope it’s not a case of too much, too soon, and believing his own hype. I don’t think it will be as I get the impression he is too grounded for that, but there is certainly room for improvement, and what better time to show it than when Virgil is absent.

22nd October 2020 at 5:24 pm #168881Hightown, sorry to hear about the concerns re your job mate and you’re having to self isolate too.
Tough time for you personally but a great attitude from you.
Hopefully things turn around for you sooner rather than later despite all the current problems. Cheers 9’s

22nd October 2020 at 6:07 pm #168884Hh, totally agree about taa. I notice he’s not getting forward much… is this a tactic? He looks knackered and is not playing well
It will all work out mate. It always does but totally understand people’s worries
I’m blessed to be able to work from home and get paid a full salary

22nd October 2020 at 6:50 pm #168890AnonymousHH, I too would be surprised if Klopp took action in that way. I say that but if it continues then maybe. The thing about Liverpool is Trent is up against and directly comparable to our best player so far this season, Robertson. Any backing off at all is going to be shown up in a stark manner.
if I were Klopp, I’d be eyeing up the new lad to fill in at RB in training and see if there was a reaction. Im not though, he’s the world class manager, I’ve no doubt that whatever he does will be smarter and more effective.
One thing I don’t particularly like about Klopp is how tetchy he’s getting with reporters and the media. he needs to cut that shit out.

22nd October 2020 at 6:59 pm #168891AnonymousMav, don’t take this the wrong way at all man but I would lose interest in football (to some extent) were I a Utd fan, watching how Woodward has run the club over the years, how each manager fails to get any kind of plan in action and a group of players, not a team.
I say I would, I’ve gone through it. I had moved to Canada at the time, so it’s a factor but I didnt watch a lot of Hodgsons matches. I couldnt stand how we played under him and how our owners did… ANYTHING. i definitely felt like I lost most of my love for the sport then. So, the virus is your Canada in a way, well that’s my take on it.
I was so angry and bemused about the everton game and everything that went with it (new disastrous rules, horrible calls etc) that i actually considered just forgetting about this season. That at least was a question I asked myself whilst still furious anyway… it didnt last of course. I think for you to regain your love and as HH does, use it as an outlet from these times, you need to see something that reminds you of the old Utd. Personally I don’t see that happening under Ole. Good performance against PSG only delays the inevitable for me but if the owners were at all paying attention, they;d take all football related responsibilities away from that clown Woodward. You won’t see what you need to from that team while he’s at the reins.
I could be wrong of course and maybe the likes of fernandes might spark something. Maybe you lads should consider writing to the owners , asking thme to put a footballing man in charge of footballing decisions.
seriously.

22nd October 2020 at 7:45 pm #168897Mak-No man, nowt to do with United at all.Cant even think of em overpaid, overrated clowns earning millions a month whereas ordinary people are really struggling. My friends working for the mighty NHS are telling me that they have got a 3-year pay-freeze,instead of a pay rise.Lets just hope this situation wont last much longer.
HH-You are not Pax from the TT,are ya?lol_____________________________

23rd October 2020 at 9:08 am #168905Mav – now that really cheered up! No, I’m not Pax. I remember him well though…a Liverpool fan also and worked for a brewery, but I hope that’s where the similarity ends. Made a bit of a fool of himself more than once on the TT pages, I recall.
Thanks all for your words, I really wasn’t trying to elicit sympathy, more to show how football is a release, but many thanks anyway. I know steveo has it worse at the moment on the job front, and where is Chucky? Do we need to be worried?

Sorry to hear about your situation. Pubs are hard hit with the current situation. Its no solace for you but you have to keep hoping for the best. Working as a Citizens Advice volunteer we have had and are getting more and more employment queries. Just make sure you know what your employment rights are. Many I have come across have little idea._____________________________

23rd October 2020 at 4:06 pm #168913AnonymousIt’s absolutely disgraceful that the people who are working the hardest this year have a pay freeze. That just boils my blood. They shouldn’t only be getting pay rises, they should be getting hazard pay. I mean that.
