Just the feeling I get from him Ed, think he’d be the better bet. Poch has many good attributes, but he’s just not a winner for me. You have to look to the long term – why install somebody as manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world if you don’t quite think he’s got it to take you back to the top? Take it from a Liverpool fan during all those years as a nearly team – it’s very easy to drift into a pragmatic mentality, thinking you need to take it step by step. But it never works because you just keep drifting. Yes, there’s a bit of work to do there, but a few signings can make a huge difference.

9th December 2020 at 8:25 pm #171788What about Gasperini. His turned Atlanta into a major force with basically average players plus he plays attacking football or not big enough for united!

9th December 2020 at 8:32 pm #171789Blaze, I don’t know if Woodward would dare take a risk on someone like that considering how many appointments he’d have got wrong if he did get rid of Ole. He’ll go for a safe bet and they don’t come safer than Poch or Allegri.
I do suspect though that Poch may be snapped up by the time the Utd job is available. I think it could end up being between Allegri and maybe someone like Hassenhutl.
Personally, I’d like us to go for the Ajax team of Van Der Saar and Ten Hag and let them build something together long term. They understand the ethos of the club in terms of bringing young players through and VdS understands the club as well as anyone.

9th December 2020 at 8:36 pm #171790Real Madrid could still join Utd in the Europa. So, we could realistically have all of the following sides in Europe’s second competition which the sponsors will love:
-Real Madrid
-Man Utd
-AC Milan
-Ajax
-Benfica
-Arsenal_____________________________

9th December 2020 at 9:00 pm #171791Hello Ed, just a thought in kindness as to whether a Man United Own Thread/Club Message Board can be set up, so that these discussions can be filtered through to there.

9th December 2020 at 9:58 pm #171792Is there something in it when City always tend to fly through qualifying, only to be undone later on because there’s more pressure & Pep starts overthinking his game plan? If you put early round Pep in charge of later round games, would City have won the CL by now?

9th December 2020 at 10:00 pm #1717933-0. Good performance
AVB getting more and more frustrated throughout.
Two positives for me. 1. Stones getting better each game. 2. Aguero back and scores._____________________________

9th December 2020 at 10:09 pm #171796Sure Nil, not a bad shout. It was kind of all related to the CL match last night though, but yes something to consider for next time

9th December 2020 at 10:15 pm #171798AnonymousEd, just set it up now TBH. I have had plenty to say about Utd over the years and most of it not actually terrible 😛 whatever about anything, Utd have been very rich subject matter.

10th December 2020 at 8:25 am #171800Ed, good shout re Ten Hag and VDS excellent football, with the AJax history of developing incredible talent.
To be honest I’d be gutted if Poch went to Utd, as I feel he will come back to Spurs when Jose throws his toys out of the pram. I would love to see the football we’d be playing with the current squad at WHL if Poch was in charge, on the other hand would we in the same league position ???????_____________________________

10th December 2020 at 8:43 am #171802You would get some good odds currently on a Poch return to Spurs Shiney maybe not such good odds on Jose throwing his toys out of the pram eventually though.😊
Like you I think the Ed’s idea of a VDS/Ten Hag combo would be good for United plus they are aware of all the best young talent in Holland probably in most of Europe too.
Get Woodward’s fingers out of the football pie at United with VDS reporting directly to the Board and move Pogba on in the Summer and United will be good to go.

10th December 2020 at 10:20 am #171803Got to laugh at Jose bleating because some quality sides will come into the Europa League from the Champions League. I hope Spurs draw one of them in the knockout rounds and totally rile him.

10th December 2020 at 11:26 am #171804Jose would love nothing more than to knock Utd out of the Europa and you wouldn’t bet against him getting the better of Ole. Saying that, Gerrard would surely love to do the same with Rangers!
Yes Nine/Shiney I think the Ajax team would be a dream combo, so it’ll probably not happen 😁.
Shiney, that’s the dilemma. Poch would probably get you playing nicer football but at what cost? Also, you say “imagine what he’d do with this squad”. I’d argue he had better squads available to him and did nothing (trophy-wise) so I’m not sure there’s much in that argument.

10th December 2020 at 11:27 am #171805Chelsea1967. Agreed! Everybody knows the rules. Is he frightened to play a decent team?
Pathetic really. Some draws are tough some easier. He always has some nonsense to say but he’s always been the same._____________________________

Jose’s due an outburst 67.😊
As Adlab rightly says Jose knew the rules when Spurs entered the competition and third placed CL teams have entered the Europa League at the next stage of the Europa League since 2009/10 so it’s not exactly new.

10th December 2020 at 12:38 pm #171808Possible last 16 for the English teams:
Chelsea: Atalanta. Atletico, Barca. BMG, Lazio, Porto, RBL
Liverpool: Atletico, Barca, BMG, Lazio, Porto, RBL, Sevilla
City: Atalanta, Atletico, Barca, BMG, Lazio, RBLFull list attached.
Would love to see a City v Barca game. Has Pep ever faced one of his previous teams? Last City vs Barca was with Pellegrini right?
