I didnt watch the game but I am going to weigh in with a little something. Utd are out of the Cl in the group stages, obviously but I did check to see if Pogba was in the team. he was on the bench and I thought “ok, Ole might have him marked as an unused sub”.. I just would not play that clown after what his agent said. So now i see that pogba scored a goal, hence was played.
How weak do you have to be to think “Ya but I need him now”? Absolutely pathetic. I never really had any respect for Ole. I dont mean as a footballer or character because he seems like a decent guy but as a manager, he’s so F-ing spineless.
What an embarrassment, when you’re openly disrespected by clowns like Pogba who think they can do better than fucking Manchester United! Then they go and utilize him immediately after? That’s just giving off the very clear message that he’s right.
I know some of you will say it wasnt Pogba, it was his agent but it really was him. he’s not coming out with some random nonsense, this is their strategy and they chose this time to destabalize the players before a must win game. Im really irritated by Ole then not seeing the wood for the trees and thinking anything good would come from giving into the powerplay. Just fire him already, jesus christ.
Ole is not a PL level manager. he’s just a normal guy and not just anyone can thrive in these environments. Does anyone think Klopp, Pep or Jose would play him after that? Jose would probably have to be held back by security. They wouldnt have their authority challenged. Fergie is much the same, it wouldnt be tolerated, nevermind bowed down to. my god what a pathetic situation.

8th December 2020 at 10:22 pm #171758Yeah it’s certainly not peak Pep City this season but you should still have way too much for this lot we’ve seen tonight. Still, it’s a derby and you never know.
There was a bigger difference in quality between the sides last season and we did the double over you so I certainly wouldn’t be putting any money on it, anyway.
Did I mention I’ve always preferred Thursday night football…

8th December 2020 at 10:27 pm #171759Couldn’t agree more Mak. We were talking about Keane the other day. Imagine if he was manager! Pogba would have been on the first plane home. I said on here that it worried me that rival fans were saying things like “Ole seems like a nice guy” & “I actually quite like Ole” (when he was appointed) etc. That really set off alarm bells for me. You need a bit of nastiness and arrogance to succeed as a PL manager. He’s a great guy, no doubt, but a top PL manager he isn’t.
The “problem” is that we keep pulling out one off results against the odds (whether it be comebacks or just big wins) and that papers over huge cracks.

8th December 2020 at 10:29 pm #171760Anonymous“As soft a pen as youβll see that. Adlab, this obsession you have with pointing out every Utd penalty is extremely boring, especially when your team gets more penalties than any other PL side, both in the league and in the CL.”
I will second this. Adlab, you have this conspiracy theory mentality that gets away from you pretty often. We all get carried away from time to time but this is just constant.
United do get the most ridiculous amount of penalties but almost every single time they are actually penalties. Maybe we should start a conspiracy asking why all these teams are giving them away to Utd?
I do find myself though that conspiracy , selective memory and confirmation bias all share a warm bed together. Might I ask why you haven’t remarked on Utd getting an easy group in the CL this season? Does this nullify that conspiracy or did they decide to take a year off?
Im just not a fan of conspiracy theorism these days. its running rampant and destroying the credibility of genuine information.

8th December 2020 at 10:33 pm #171761AnonymousWell Ed, the UEFA Cup early stages are pathetic and uninteresting but I’ve always enjoyed the latter stages. That season where we beat Dortmund in style, knocked out City and then failed to win it in a pretty awful final, still hurts. It’s no CL but it is an easier tournament to actually win.
I remember thinking that UEFA cup final loss might have spelled the end for Klopp. if I remember right, he was getting flak and the press were asking if he might be fired etc. we had missed out on the CL, so had to win it to qualify and by being set back in that manner, i was thinking about Rodgers not getting the backing or patience that he deserved (disagree with me if ye wants LFC lads, thats my opinion :P). things of course changed around though, thankfully.

8th December 2020 at 10:37 pm #171762AnonymousYa Ed, I can see that we agree on so much there. Ole pulling off these big or shock wins when the chips are down would be great, if they werent happening all the time. The whole idea of saving yourself at the last second is that you get away afterwards but Ole is bobbing in a rough sea. he’s up, he’s down.. but not quite sunk.
This is all resolved by the appointment of a competent football man above ole. I mean would fergie not consider becoming a director of football? jesus he’d be perfect and ya Keane would have Pogba out by the bloody ear. I would love to see that TBH.

9th December 2020 at 4:28 am #171763A tepid performance by Chelsea in a meaningless match. Iβd be disappointed as a match going supporter with that. Abraham was typical Abraham with little anticipation or awareness. Not a performance that would earn him a starting spot at Everton. Anjorin did a few nice things. Overall disappointing .

9th December 2020 at 5:28 am #171764AnonymousThat was basically Chelsea’s 2nd 11 which I thought was great of Lampard to give them some game time having won their section. If I was a United fan I would be ok with playing in the Europa they have a chance where in the CL they had no chance.

9th December 2020 at 10:14 am #171766Obsession on Utd penalties? Probably Ed and Critical. Comes from half a century of ify decisions! I accept its me but im too old to change. Its instilledππ
On a serious note, and I suspect I’ll regret saying this after the weekend but ever since Maguire’s arrest in Mykonos he has looked a very ordinary player. I think that incident played on his mind and never quite got it back together.
Also is it time to give Dean Henderson a go in preference to De Gea.Also Im hoping we make 10 changes for tonight where the result is unimportant. I have a sneaky feeling the derby, like so many, will end up a draw.

9th December 2020 at 11:14 am #171767Great performance from Gilmour almost 5 months out after an operation for a serious knee injury and he comes back and plays like that in he first game back. If he stays free from serious injuries this boy has the potential to become a Chelsea great.

9th December 2020 at 3:20 pm #171768MM a couple of years ago when Chelsea didn’t go through the group stage I was OK with it cause I knew they couldn’t win the CL but had a good chance to win the Europa which they did and that’s where United stands now.

9th December 2020 at 5:40 pm #171771Poch or Allegri for Man Utd? Iβd be thinking more along the lines of Allegri now. More charismatic than Poch and probably lets the players play a bit more off the cuff. Would Pogba suddenly have a change of heart if he walked through the door too?

9th December 2020 at 5:56 pm #171772Every chance United could make a fist of winning the Europa League. They’ve got a few things to sort out along the way though.

9th December 2020 at 6:30 pm #171774Was struggling to get coverage sorted, but finally there; by the looks of it, we’ve been playing generally well and good to be in front.
In saying that, Midtjylland came close and have upped their game.

9th December 2020 at 6:41 pm #171776Is Allegri charismatic Mikus? Can’t say I’ve seen a great deal of him but never thought that of him whenever I did see him. Always thought his Juventus sides were well organised, though, and played good football. I do think Poch has a fair bit of charisma though.
Still, I’m completely torn on who I would want to come in. I have always had my doubts about Poch. I never once felt Spurs were a threat to my own team winning anything when he was there. They played nice football but that’s it.
Allegri has more pedigree but I’d argue we maybe aren’t ready for an Allegri anymore. We arguably are more in need of someone who can come in and reshape the playing style, steady the ship and make us a regular top 4 side again. On that front, Poch absolutely delivered for Spurs. I’m not sure if that makes sense. What I’m trying to say is that I think Allegri is more suited to coming into a decent team and turning them into a top team whereas I potentially see Poch as the one to bridge the gap between the state we’re now in and a title winning manager.

9th December 2020 at 6:49 pm #171777AnonymousDont get United fans wanting OGS sacked. That United side were never going to win the champions league. If you want to see a team in decline, check out Barcelona.
United are 5 points off top spot and starting to hit some kind of form. Tighten up the first half and a run as seen at the end of last season is a real possibility. Fernandes in midfield, Cavani, Rashford to hit form, Martial scrubbing around the mud for any kind of form… Lots of players yet to hit top form.
The top four will be a crowded competition this season. Not sure why United would appoint a manager with little to no track record in trophies… Would rule Pochettino out, and Allegri… Probably the best shout, but would he want to go? outside those two, who else?
