6th November 2020 at 11:03 am #169741Don’t know how true it is but Sky is reporting that United have officially approached Potchetino, they normally reliable not perfectly though.

6th November 2020 at 11:13 am #169746Not enough time to get my teeth into, but the route of coaching and attaining an official qualification is the first port of call which is something already in place.
There needs to be a structured programme where you’re trained to be ‘the Manager’, but then have to manage first a lower league club and be seen to have made progress, factually. Next stage then is to work as a Number 2, then by ‘signed’ off with an accreditation to go into a Premier League club with a minimum 3 Year Term.

6th November 2020 at 2:57 pm #169750I think we should remember that the appointment of Ole was only meant to be a temporary one however the run he took United on made it very difficult for United not to give him a chance permanently.
Would United have gone out and looked to appointment Ole permanently without that I would say would have been very very unlikely.
Most players coming into Coaching have passed their Coaching badges or are in the process of passing them.
Clubs must have the right to appoint who they choose to appoint and no Club should ever be saddled with a failing Manger for a minimum of three years.

6th November 2020 at 4:44 pm #169753Waspy-And thats the main problem @ United-money.Too much spent on too many average players, earning too much every week.DDG,Shaw,Maguire,Pogba,Fred,Martial, and the geriatrics in Rojo,Romero,Mata,Matic.

6th November 2020 at 4:47 pm #169754United have a much better squad and team than this season’s results reflect.
They will still be pushing for a top 4 place at the end of the season imo whoever is in charge.

6th November 2020 at 5:02 pm #169757Liverpool signed a few duds in the early 90s under Souness, he eventually ran his course and under Evans who was from the original Boot-room, we stuck with the younger players and a couple of seniors. For some reason in those days, there wasn’t a great deal of players needed to be signed and bigger squads formed.
98 and the joint management in Houllier and Evans turned in the end to be a bit of a mess. We couldn’t attract and spend big on the bigger names that we wanted, e.g. Lilian Thuram.
United just need a Settled Team and a Manager. Too many changes of Both Players and Management. The class of 92 guys should really be a Core of the Club in Front line Coaches.
My personal choice a long time back was Robbo. Seeing similarities to Liverpool in the 90s – just a cycle of rinse and repeat.

6th November 2020 at 5:34 pm #169761Bryan Robson Nil?
That was then and this is now mate Robson hasn’t managed in the PL for almost 12 years he’s a yesterday man mate. Great player for United but nevef a very good Manager and certainly not someone United fans would accept similarly the Class of 92 Beckham wouldn’t be interested and the rest haven’t made a mark on management.

6th November 2020 at 6:19 pm #169763The problem with Prem players is their egoβs, managing and learning a trade in the lower leagues is way beneath them…..Pagan

6th November 2020 at 7:44 pm #169766Nine, I was thinking more along the lines of Fergie’s Successor. Robbo has been out of the picture for a long time and I agree with you.
I wanted to see one of the more legendary former United players under Fergie’s wing to learn the trade and be Ready. This combined with a quality number 2.
Brian Kidd at the time seemed a good Assistant Manager. This is one route and journey to stepping into such a highly valued role or bringing somebody from elsewhere with a decorative CV. The latter has so far been tried and tested, but for some reason hasn’t sustained and there seems to with United a similar pattern and trend of Managers not been given more time.

VAR strikes yet again.
Porto are just a filthy load of diving cheats. They rely on large players from….cant say but we all know where…kicking hell out of everybody with the ref doing nothing. Disgraceful team. Horrid._____________________________

I think at the time myself, Ed and others still said to give it more time though. if we knew, why didn’t they? They also gave Jose a new contract stupidly too.

2nd December 2020 at 2:43 pm #171410Sean…all hypothetical. but Pep would never have gone to Utd….his Management style an operation he needs control of, he would never get that at Utd, ask the managers since SAF left.
Pep does not control transfers, that is Tixi’x job no doubt with some suggestions though_____________________________
