Ya, they usually are and look, maybe Im wrong but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I think in this case, they are wrong. I don’t think Barca will be firing Koeman, he’s protected himself incredibly well with the contract he negotiated and they couldnt even sign players without getting it cleared by an administrator.
Maybe they have since improved their finances enough to throw 20m away, now that they let Messi and others go but I think they probably don’t. Their best chance is if Koeman lets them off the hook for a significant sum.

Time will tell but imo there’s too much talk now about replacing Koeman particularly from people like Balague and if Barca weren’t prepared to do anything about the situation why did Laporta and key Board members spend hours locked away in the trading ground after the Benfica defeat if they weren’t planning to take action.
“Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed ‘it’s just a matter of time’ before Koeman parts ways with Barcelona.
He told BBC Sport: “It’s just a matter of time until we hear that Koeman has been sacked.
“There was a meeting between the decision-makers, including president Joan Laporta, after their flight landed back in Barcelona from Lisbon.
“They went to the training ground, which is not far from the airport, and they were putting a plan together.

Despite Balague’s claims we’re all still guessing and only those on the inside really know what’s going on so we’ll have too wait and see.

I saw a video about the various protection clauses that koeman put into his contract. It’s been a long time but I think the total money they’d owe him would be around 20m. Very smart move, knowing how Barca might be quick to try and shift him out.

However, should the Catalan side decide to sack the 58-year-old – or decide not to extent his stay beyond June 2022 – there could be costly repercussions.
“According to Spanish outlet Marca, there is a clause in Koeman’s contract that means should the Barcelona hierarchy opt against renewing his deal at the club, he will receive at least β¬6million.
When elaborating on the clause in the Dutchman’s contract, the report claims that it was included by former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The issue relates to the amount of money that Koeman had to pay the Dutch Football Association to terminate his deal with the national side in order to become the Barcelona manager last year.
On the other hand, should the four-time Champions League winners decide the sack their manager before the end of the season, then he will reportedly receive around β¬14m in compensation.”
But who really knows though.
The Valencia result will have helped Koeman and given his contract expires in June 2022 I suspect Barca will leave replacing him until the Summer when it will cost them nothing to make a change.

Nine, I may be mis-remembering. If I think of it later, I’ll try and find the video and see. 12m is a lot of money that they would absolutely have to pay him. Hence why he still has a job.
