On last nights performance and probably shorn of Varane United could struggle against City although I wouldn’t expect United to be as open as they were v Liverpool.

Considering how they completely outplayed Chelsea at their own place Nine, I’m not holding much hope!

We let them Ed, seriously we beat them 3 times in a row playing fluid front 3 but for the last game we left 2 up top got 8 men behind ball and let them boss us in final 3rd. It’s one game I know for sure tuchel got wrong but to be fair he maybe thought 4 wins on a row was a bit greedy and played it much more defensive than previous games. If only that deflected goal hadn’t gone in we be 8 clear of city right now 😞

It was so one sided though Lucky. Chelsea didn’t have a shot on target. If City can do that against a defensive side like Chelsea, I dread to think how our leaky defence will cope regardless of Ole’s impressive record against Pep.

But City can’t do it against Palace, Southampton and Spurs, a Spurs team who Utd put away very easily recently. It all depends on which team turns up on the day best prepared mentally and tactically, plus maybe a little luck too.

Ed, on their day City can outplay any team they were highly motivated for the Chelsea game having lost 3 on the bounce to Chelsea in quick succession inc an FA Cup Semi Final and a CL Final.

I think Tuchel approached the game exactly as Lucky has highlighted ie we can’t keep on beating City let’s play for the draw and not lose any ground on them in the PL table and had it not been for the deflected goal we might well have got away with a draw.

I wouldn’t rule United out of getting something from the game City currently aren’t hitting the heights they did in the Chelsea game but it won’t be easy.

I think United’s midfield would work well against City if they use the experience of Matic as the holding man and somebody to protect the defense.

Play McTominay and possibly Lingaard with Fernandes. Play with Both Cavani and Ronnie and Eric Bailey in defense. I would drop Maguire and play Linderlof. A slight question mark on Van Bissaka for me and would consider Dalot, unless Bailey plays to protect Van Bissaka when out of position.

Fernandes needs to pull his socks up and actually work harder in midfield, defensively.

Just because chelsea have only conceded 3 goals ( 2 pens and a deflection) doesn’t make them a defensive side Ed, it makes them very good defensively! 😀 Also scored 6 more than city so pretty good offensively too, except coincidentally, in the games we played 532 (city, juve and Brentford)

Sure though city dominated that game but has no bearing at all on the Manchester Derby.

😄 Threeps I genuinely didn’t mean it in a negative way. For me, Tuchel falls into the Jose/Conte mould of manager whose primary focus is to not concede. Klopp/Pep are completely different in that their focus is always on their own attacking strengths first, hence why I think most neutrals would rather watch City or Liverpool than Chelsea or now Spurs. There’s absolutely no shame in that and Spurs/Chelsea fans won’t care as long as they’re winning.

Much rather a winning defensive coach than a losing attacking one like Poch/Wenger. Worse still, an Ole/Arteta type manager who play crap football mostly and still don’t win anything 😁

Ed the reality of it is if you score more than you concede you win, the 3 coaches you named are winners and every top football coach/pundit will say you need to be first and foremost difficult to beat and score against before you can be winners. Peps best city sides all been fantastic defensively as have klopps best pool sides just as conte, Jose and tuchels best sides score plenty of goals.
